Double check you have set up portfast on the interfaces. XP may be trying
to do the all the domain login faster then the switch is willing/able to
start forwarding packets while doing STP. It will forward the packets
almost immediately with portfast on.

that you don't need to know how to configure it. There are things such
as ILMI/QSAAL with auto pvc discovery that may not function the same on
a point to point link versus having a switch in the middle. Just a

of a route table?
everyone could get confused about anything :). especially in some
2 or 3 am morning. first sorry about that.
There can't be the same route for BGP and a static in the
active routing table

I understand now that my local loop is T1. My question was about the
Telco's last mile I believe. Now I know that it can be T1, E1, 56k, or even
DSL.
