Priscilla and Cisco_Maniac,
Well, I have been tinkering around with it a bit more (which is
pretty much how I got here) and here are my findings. First, I went
ahead and did a 'debug span events' on the 2948G-L3 and noticed no
convergence issues... actually no events at all. A quick 'show
nfigured ISL between all of the
switches, and since I have the 100Mbit module on the 3620, created an
ISL trunk to it with a sub-interface for each VLAN and began providing
inter-VLAN routing and internet access through it. Well, on high-speed
switches, hitting a 100Mbit bottleneck at the rout
You may want to verify the version of RIP that you're running on all
routers.

Hi group,
Have posted this problem before and some members wanted my configs. Here

I am going crazy trying to figure out what I have missed.
I am following the lab on Vlans from Hutnick and Satterlee 1st edition.

There's a used 2621 that I may be able to get. Would it run ISL and 802.1Q
and how would I know? I know the hardware supports it. How about the
software?
Here's all I know about it:

Priscilla,
I think the most reasonable and versatile choice would be a 2600. Keep in
mind that you need an IOS and Feature set release that supports both. I
think IOS 12.1(5)T supports both ISL/802.1q trunking and you have to use IP
PLUS feature set at a minimum.

As far as I know, the 2620 is the cheapest router out there with inter-vlan
routing capabilities. The 1700 series router also has fast ethernet, but
can't route between vlans.
You could probably pick up a 2620 from ebay for about $1000 if you got a
week or 2 to wait for a good deal.

I'm studying inter-VLAN routing for a project. I have a few $$s to spend.
What's a good low-end (low-cost) router that would do ISL? How about 802.1Q?
Any thoughts?
Thanks!

the following packet match the same rule will be directly switched by the
L3-Swtich or MLS-enabled Switch.
Inter-Vlan Routing: This is kind of routing. This first packet and the
following packet will be routed by the router, not switch. So you will find
the Inter-Vlan routing can not provide

When using PDCs on a different VLAN to the client you sometimes have to add

find the PDC (as netbios is not a routable protocol). This file maps the
netbios name to the IP address. To do this copy the LMHOSTS.sam file and ad
