I hv a questionwhen I do #sh ip int brief I get response as up / up
that means interface is up & line protocol is up. but still I cant ping to
my internet. if I power cycle the router everything works fine. Can it be
possible that even if my link is down I'll get status up or is it

Block). It specifies the max number of interface the router can have.
Anyone knows which IOS command can check the IDB number of a router?

I need to turn on NAT in a 2500 running Firewall IOS 11.3. It's been a year
since I touched a router, so I wanted to run the config by the group for a
sanity check. (addresses have been changed to protect the innocent)

When I use LANE, how can I trace what is the path I take in the ATM
switches. In ATM switches, if I don't do any config, it will use PNNI,
right, so that can I know the path exactly.

Hi,
lane uses svc's to build data-direct connections between LECs,
so in principle you can trace the path through all intermediate atm switches
by simply doing show atm vc and writing down all the cross-connects
on the NNI switches. Needless to say, this may take quite a while...

For Router A to B I would use /30 subnet instead of using all /24

Dosnt sound like they want the ISDN up all the time, if they did why mention
not allowing broadcasts to bring the link up?
Definitly sounds like an ACL is what they are looking for.

I've run into this situation while doing some practicing with the 3550s and
some routers
2611--3550---35503640
all ethernet ports are set at full duplex 10 megabit speed.
the 2611 and the 3640 are connected via a vlan tunnel.
everything is working fine, until I turn on l2protoco
All I can say is KEWL.. I love that. I hate jumping in and out of config
mode to look at my Runnning Config.

This is an excellent addition to the IOS. I have been anticipating a
command with this functionality for quite some time as Juniper has had this
capability from the beginning of JunOS.
By the way, it works on a 2500 series router with 12.2(8)T5 code!

Yes, I'm not sure what platforms it does work on, I tried it on 2500's,
2600's and 4500's with no luck
