I went north to Seeley Lake and saw, in addition to some of the above, one
snow goose mixed in the the hordes of cackling geese and a few Canada geese.

I checked out Glenmere Park in Greeley and found 2 snowy egrets, 5
pelicans, and about a dozen cormorants. None of the nests looked complete

, I looked north toward Ryan Gulch Reservoir and saw on the near
shallow area another swan. Again, I could not see any orange on the bill.
If someone with a scope is in the area, I would be interested to hear what
kind of swans those are. My thought was that they are trumpeters.

I was at the Poudre River and ponds west of 35th Avenue in Greeley and saw a
mute swan, lots of snowy egrets, some gadwalls, a great egret, some terns I
could not quite ID for sure, GB herons, several BC night herons and some
geese. Nothing spectacular, but an enjoyable walk.

It was just the kind of night I had hoped for. A partial moon, sky full of
stars, little or no wind, and almost no traffic on Highway 14. And most
importantly, I was successful in hearing a boreal owl (a lifer for me) to
the west of the parking lot at Cameron Pass.

numbers are drastically reduced. The few survivors look good, and hopeully
can begin the repopulation. The owls prefer to nest in active colonies and
the plovers require low vegetation, a service the pdogs happily prov
Lots of activity in
there. Many juniper titmice were observed and many were singing. All three
nuthatch species and both chickadees in CO were observed. It was beautiful
day to get out.

Pueblo a broad-tailed hummingbird has been around for a
couple of days (juvenile from the quick views I had). It is visiting the
feeder and the late-blooming flowers in our yard. Will be curious to see
if it is still there later today.
