FYI, my "random songs" doesn't work as you describe. From the remote
and the web interface each time I press "random songs" a new list is
generated, with old ones removed. As each song plays another gets added
to the list.
The only unusal "feature" I notice, is when you stop slimserv

For a while, I used a Seagate 300Gb USB2 drive. There weren't any
functional problems with it - Slimserver didn't

I'm using a WD MyBook 500GB drive connected via Firewire to my PC. It
works perfectly - but when its powered down it can take 10-15 seconds
to wake up properly and start streaming.

Good question. AAC is supported through transcoding. In a typical
SlimServer + SB scenario transcoding works well and there is no
problem.

I know that you do not want to link iTunes to SlimServer, but have you
considered using the "Unchecked Songs in iTunes" feature under
Home/Server Settings/iTunes?
To do this you would set the feature to "Don't include unchecked songs"
and then only check the songs in iTunes that you wish SlimServ
Why can't you convert the album you like to flac and put a copy in your
flac libarary?

Erland, you are correctly describing bug 4824, it is an issue when you
browse -> genre -> artist, and yes you must select an artist to
reproduce that bug. However, this is not what Club1820 *originally*
described.

I wouldnt know the albums anyway to be able to populate this field for
them. My library is sorted by Genre. I have directories for each
Genre only. I have very few directories set up by Album.
I guess I can tag the tracks the same as the genre. ? All Jazz tracks

check it out. It should be able to fix your tags based on the online
db.

Neat little media adapter from Sony, I really like the looks of it.
However, it only connects to their Bravia systems and is extremely
restricted in the formats it supports - AATRAC, AAC and WMA.

That socketwrapper is effectively the latest that overcame problem in XP
with security s/w. A number of Vista users have found that it seems to
fix a similar problem with Vista. If it is a problem related to McAfee
- disabling is not enough to undo its effects - you have to uninstall
it.

I can hear their other channels, but not the Eclectic channel which is a
favorite of mine. Any ideas why this one channel is not working? I am a

That six-month-old thread made me realize that SHOUTcast offers two of
Otto's 1FM streams, Baroque and Classical.
And since they're MP3 streams, they include the track information.

At one point in time I too suffered like you.
Then I noticed it was only when playing music that I was suffering from
dropouts. Make that when streaming music it was most noticeable.
After numerous tech support calls, I found out that it had to with the
network dropping packets.

It *could* possibly be DNS issues. A similar symptom happened to me a
long time ago (FreeBSD), when my cable-modem provider was having all
sorts of trouble.
I've never touched a mac, but you might try looking into setting up
your own local DNS, at least

Hi,
I know this has been asked before. I have selected the option under
audio to disable outputs when off, yet the optical stays on when I turn
the device off. For my switch to recognize my other devices, I have to
unplug my sb3. Is there a way around this?

Yup It seems Like SD finally figured it out with 6.5.2. I installed
the beta release a couple days ago and BINGO... all is working... Of
course they still have not figured out how to get Slim Server to start
automatically as in XP without editing the Services Start Up feature to
delayed.
