I recently acquired ReadyNAS Duo. Love it. It's brilliant. Solved 90% of
my SlimServer problems and is a brilliant NAS. HOWEVER, the 10% of
problems I have are big: my M4A files do not play properly. Each song
in this format plays through to the end of the track, but then stops
with 1 second left
With SC7.0 I never had a problem. With 7.0.1 my SC server wakes up after
an undetermined ammount of time. I don't know why, maybe it is the SB3's
new firmware. Could be the controller :-(

and Foobar only seem to be available for PC which is a bit
shortsighted.

Mac, PC, whatever. Surely there are music library managers for the Mac
that can be used to build playlists. Even iTunes.
Having everyone's music on the nas means we are all backed up and it is
in one central location. The ReadyNas is advertised as the machine for
the job - it should be able to do it.

My son and daughter each have a mac with their own music on it.
Therefore, for all of us to be able to access a single music library,
it needs to be centrally stored. That is why I bought the ReadyNas (as

Bottom line is the ReadyNAS is NEVER going to make a decent Slimserver
host, no matter what you do, it simply doesn't have the grunt for the
job. If you're after a fast NAS that can comfortably handle SC have a
look at the Thecus N5200PRO - my library is now 90k tracks and SC
remains pretty
You might give some thought to saving the tag(s) that are about to be
overwritten to oldtagname_tmp (or whatever)before overwriting. Then if
you don't like the way things work you can get back to where you
started pretty easily.
The downside, of course, is that it's an extra step to get rid of

Have you -ever- had a Symantec anti virus product installed on this
machine?
I had a very similar (possibly the exact same) problem and it turns out
that Symantec A/V products don't completely uninstall. I ended up doing
a complete reformat/re-install, which solved the problem.

lower left corner, you'll see a drop down widget that looks like a
windowpane. Under that dropdown, you can select various ways to view
albums. Artist, Year, Album will get what I think you are asking for.

I'm experiencing the following problem when upgrading from 7.0 to 7.0.1
After I've installed 7.0.1 and rebooted my pc, I open SC and it tells
me that my players firmware must be upgraded.
I go to the player and the player says press and hold the brightness

When I look in the music library-Genre-Christmas on SC I can see 5
albums where 4 of them is under Various Artist. But when I check music
library-genre-Christmas on the SBC the list contains 6 items where 1
is Various and another one is the same but in Danish (Diverse
Kunstner).

It's never turned off, but I have noticed that the SB3 seems to take a
clock signal from the server, which would certainly keep the server
awake. Try changing the screensaver when OFF to something other than
the clock.
