and after a year made a decision on one that was head and shoulders above

system (win7-64) errors when starting it. Contacted N2BC and he had me
download a newer version - it loaded OK, but caused other problems with

I have been using N3FJP's AC Log for a while, both with my K2 and now
my K3. I haven't had any trouble at all with DX spotting and clicking
on a spot to do a frequency change with either rig. I can take a look
at my settings if you like.
So, basically, clicking on a spot doesn't work?
I enjoy my K3 very much, but I am not overly impressed with the level of
user support offered via the forums/groups/reflectors.
To me, it is very irritating the amount of private reporting/discussion
that goes on regarding the Elecraft products. It should ALL be out in

any length of time on CW above 250W the SWR would jump up and the
KPA500 would fault.
The problem was a too small torroid 4:1 balun. I bought a 5KW balun
from Hy Power Antennas and the problem

vee for 40 meters, but I will set it up with a dummy load to check just in
case. And I will try the dummy load at the antenna end of the coax as a test

Look at the Low Pass Filter.
The PA transistor cannot really go to 10 watts output - I suspect the
relay on the LPF board is not being activated on 80 meters and is
allowing a low of 2nd and 3rd harmonic energy get through. A 'scope
would show that, but for some reason or another, that
I bypassed the tuner relays, but makes no difference. I left the one turn link
in ckt.
I thought maybe maybe the tuner being in place was affecting the drive rf into
the output xistor,
but it looks like the same rf drive on the scope with the tuner in or out...but

Fixed.
It was a solder connection on the low pass filter board. When the ATU
pushed a bit on the LPF board, the power took a dip.
I re-soldered the two 2-3 junctions on the LPF.
The power is constant now, about 3.6 or so on 7 thru 14
and about 4.1 on 80M with the tuner in or out.

In normal use the microHAM unit is in-between the PC and the K3 or if
there is a P3 it is PC - P3 - K3. BUT when having to do FW update to
the P3 or K3 or screen capture off the P3 the PC needs to be connected
directly to the P3 or K3.

I'm curious, what sort of information would you expect to see on a cheat sheet
for the KX3?
I have to say, I find the KX3 user interface very well designed, intuitive and
easy to use (once you understand the whole tap vs hold philosophy).

Beta 4.51 and the computer just filled through all the attempts to connect
on different ports at different baud rates, and could not connect, next
thing I know, the transmit light just keeps on flashing the dial lights

brownout--and has to be retried.

it. The computer serial port has an A/B/C/D switch that connects to
each of the A/B switches, the programming cable for the XG3 and for
now the LP-100 (but normally my general purpose test port).
