Use an Ohm meter and see if pin of the Foster plug is connected to the center pin of the 3.5mm jack on the AD1-K (DC connection). It is entirely possible that the adapter has a blocking capacitor as the AD1-K was designed for use with Heil's dynamic microphones which do not want DC on the mic

Stan, Try a test - put a bare stereo plug into the adapter and check with your ohmmeter to see if there is continuity between the ring and the shell of the plug. If so, that is the reason - the adapter is using a mono jack and the CM500 has a stereo plug. The tip and ring of the CM500 mic
