there is such a thing as triple channel memory, I
believe that is what is indicated by the DDR3 designation.

Keep in mind, if you put in three matching sticks it will run in
triple-channel mode; two matching sticks will run in dual-channel mode,
and four matching sticks will run at a speed inbetween dual &
triple-channel.

Is there an elegant way to filter the incoming air in a ppc G5 tower?
A long time ago I read a post by a man who used his wife's old stockings
to filter the air.
I make no claims to the feasibility of doing so. ;-)

the manual says I can, but I just can't find a reason to do so

those using G3, G4, and G5 desktop Macs - with a particular focus on Power Macs.
The list FAQ is at http://lowendmac.com/lists/g-list.shtm
as well - small pics shows me how to,
but the devices aren't other computers, and the manual doesn't really
suggest that it's something to be done - doesn't advice against it either
though
so...?

If you zero out a hard drive with Disk Utility to map out the bad

reformat lose the bad block "map."

No need to 'split the baby' by forgoing modern supported browsers that
are unavailable for Tiger.
Or you can use Tiger and the modern TenFourFox:

I've not had good luck with Migration Assistant in the past either,
however Carbon Copy Cloner & SyncTwoFolders have worked very well for
me. If you do use a tool such as this be sure the settings are exactly
what you want, one wrong setting can create a nightmare.
