First, apologies for (sort of) re-sending a thread, but I realized that
asking about the best packages to install for a web server was jumping

So, is anyone on this list running a gentoo web server and if so, could

First, -all desktop settings, a short example should be:
-X -gnome -gtk -gtk2 -kde -qt
For security (I recommend read about the Gentoo Security Proyect):
pam ssl tcpd
Then, for webserving, you have to choise between apache or apache2 use

Other importants are maildir -mbox imap (for php)

rely on others to tell you what you do or do
I have another linux machine which has a printer connected and exports the
printer to SMB. Now I would like to configure my system to use this printer. I
configured CUPS to send the print to the remote machine, but apparently there
is something else to tell it how to process the stuff because what
I noticed that there is quake2-data in the portage. Are these the real data
files with graphics and everything? I wonder about this, because I know that

When I emerge quake2-icculus will this be, along with q2-data, the full game

No, you'll need the stuff from the CD such as pak0. If you have a
windows install you can merge quake2 then bring over the windows stuff
into ~/.quake2.
