I did some additional testing and was able to confirm that each player
requires (worst-case) just a bit
The maximum updaterate and cmdrate are 30 (because the server fps never
exceed 30 on L4D), so setting them to 100 shouldn't make a difference.

Ah, I've been looking at it strictly from a server pov not a client,
indeed
the client appears locked at 30 up/down.
So the bottom line is that a 4-player server
to look at latency issues myself.

This server is different from the other valve server. You can see your
server is a 14 slots, but you can not play with that lot. I think a
dedicated server can host more then 1 game at the same time. If a player is
making a lobby he needs to host it at a random dedicated

What's your startup command? Were you getting the steam library error

I don't have steam installed on the server, no. I've always just used
hldsupdatetool to run my cs:s/tf2/dod:s servers
You need to run srcds.exe, not left4dead.exe.

Gotchya, was just confused there for a minute. I've never installed the
steam client on this server. I double checked, I do have
/bin/steamclient.dll, it's up-to-date, and also is the exact same version as
my game client.
Are we doing something wrong, or should we wait for an update?
