Is Bering GNU?
I'm beginning to have my doubts. Where is /usr/src/linux/.config? Where

Hi everybody.
I am after a few clues as to where I should go with a problem (?) with my LEAF router.
I am happily running an Eigerstein based router but I feel I should update to take
advantage of newer, more secure and maybe smaller packages.
So the story is, when I run Dachstein on my

Does RC3 still use pump by default? If so, is "pump -s"
what you're looking for? It enumerates DHCP interfaces

Hi,
I've been making .lrp's touching rsyncing dding calling remote hands to
swap floppies and reboot *all* day, so please forgive me if I've missed
something obvious.
There doesn't seem to be any /bin/sh in Bering rc3?
Should /etc/passwd read /bin/tinylogin for root???
Okay, I see there is a /

The dhcp-client programs only allow for receiving a lease on one
interface. This fact eliminates this plan.

Jim,
I'll take a look if you send it. I can understand the
sleep for regular ethernet cards, but might a better
place for it be in the bridge script? don't know what
kind of problems this would cause.

I want to add Snort to my 2 floppy Bering RC3 setup. I found the package Charles has

Hi Craig, many thanks for your reply.
I am using Windows 2000 pro with Nero 5.5.4.8.
I have done all what is said in the Bering User's Manual and I have
created the 'lrpkg.cfg' file on my Bering box with 'ae' editor and
copied it in the \BCD\diskcontent\ directory.

I'm negotiating with the local cable company for fixed IP's. This results in
a lot of "adjustments" and "training", as they have not ever done that
before, and my network topology is a bit wierd.

How about I send you a working floppy image that I use. You can run that and
see what you see. I can send you off list tonight. If there is interest from
the group I can post some of the floppy images that I use in our wireless.
Plus a pcmcia.lrp for Dachstein that includes Prism wireless drive
Hi,
I don't know why but it was already like that on dachstein CD . I moved the
cipe file to /cipe to make cipe work

Hi all,
I am not quite finished yet and still need to do some
testing. But I am way to excited to wait.
Things that are working as we speak.

And accessing file shares through the cipe tunnel.

One other thing are you loading shorewall? If I remember right I had a

shorewall on my bridge setup's. The laptop you mentioned should not be a
problem as you can prove it works though normal setup. I also use RC2 just

Hi Harold,
As I understand it, to make Bering work with IDE you would have to download
the appropriate modules and put into the /lib/modules directory if not need
on boot, or somewhere else if they are (/boot/lib/modules I believe).
You have to be careful with the /boot/lib/modules area, as you
Would someone please tell this guy where to find Bering

Hi all,
Especially the bering crew, is there any reason why /etc is
no longer owned by root?
Reason I ask is because I had to change it to make cipe work.
