To answer at least part of your question, generally when you import an image
with importFileInto command, it will default to 24 or 32 bit, never seen it
default to 16 bit, but perhaps it depends on what the bitdepth of the
monitor is. If your using Director 8, you could convert these images

Here are some graphics issues in Director that I am embarassingly unclear
about and am hoping someone can clear up. Thanx in advance.
1. Say we're doing an interactive where we need to import some members at
32-bit cuz we need the alpha channels. But we're running the movie in 16 bit

I created a small projector (.exe) that quits in just a few seconds after it
starts. It also does it as a movie (.dcr). None of the other files that I
created have this problem (yet). What am I not putting in the .dir file. I
am using D8 with Win 2000.

Hi Ian
You might want to make sure that you are using a field castmember and not a

Is this the same movie or are you changing movies? If it is the same, then
you can use postNetText to call, in your case, an ASP. The ASP would return
a text stream with the data you need.
If it is a different movie you can write the shockwave html in the ASP and

Does Lingo have any function for getting UTC?
More specifically, getting the time in seconds
since 1/1/1970 ?
It's a pretty standard function in other languages
but I'm not sure about lingo.
Thanks!

Try putting both QT's into 1 file with 2 video tracks and then use
setTrackEnabled to turn them on and off as needed.
ie.
on mouseUp me
sprite(1).setTrackEnabled(2, TRUE)
sprite(1).setTrackEnabled(1, FALSE)
end mouseUp
