Could you please provide the loadlin option? Thanks
*** This option has the advantage that you need not format a hard drive
and can easily implement it on an existing Wind$ze machine. However, this
option doesn't work with all Network Cards (works fine with 3com, doesn't
work with a Compaq Nic).
Hi, I am back with a new question:
After having fixed my dhcp-server and lots of other things in my local
network, time has come for making that thin client boot something.
I have a 3c905c-tx-m (i guess) with PXE. I would like it to load
grub, and then load a ltsp-kernel.
I have read the PXE-
Giorgio,
Try in the server:

This is for cups. You must have the cupsys running.
Login as root, and configure the printers. Just choose the HP Direct Jet
printer, and write to the device:
socket://host:9100
for example:
socket://ws001:9100

Is there a need for Dutch manuals? If so, I volunteer to contribute to
the LTSP community by doing my bit of the translation work.
I seem to recall from previous messages that Docbook is used to
produce the manuals. Is that so?

Jim's question, I suppose.
Kernel source is 2.4.9 (Torvalds, not Cox) but where can I find the patch
set you use? lpp, swap-over-nfs, others?

I have partially solved the problem :

After this you must reinstall cups and cups driver.

I'd take a piece of it.

I'm using etherboot along with ltsp to make a diskless X workstation.
The problem is that the DHCP server and the TFTP server are two separate
machines. The booting machine gets the kernel image (2.2.18 from the ltsp
website) from the TFTP server fine, but it seems to autoconfigure itself
to use
I'd go for a dual p3 board as well (tualatins) get one that will take 3 gig
of ram and put 1 or 2 in for starters.
Nic for the clients
If you don't already have client machines build you might look into getting
a motherboard with integrated nic that supports PXE I played with a few and
they seem
It says compressed OS. Why does does a thin client need an OS?

CPU power is not nearly important as RAM. Get a board that can take
as much RAM as possible.

Okay, I'm at a loss here. I have one final box in this network that
refuses to do X. When I had v2.08 deployed it worked fine. So, I know the
box is good. However, here is the spew I get from X before it dies:

Hello!
I just subscribe in this mailing list and I'm very much interested with the LTSP.
Actually, I just knew this LTSP last month and I find it very interesting to learn.
I am actually planning to develop my own LTSP for our Public High Schools here in our
country as my thesis topic. I hop

Hi,
I just f
All,
have upgraded from 2.08 to 2.09pre4 and have one slight problem
Workstation boots ok all looks good except I am getting vertical bars
instead of fonts on menu items, terminals sessions etc..
It is like a system font is missing. Server is all ok.
i used the lts_x_core and lts_x_fonts for 2.
Hugo,
I do not run KDE because of the amount of memory it requires for each session
and also I cannot lock down the desktop (don't know how at the moment).
Instead I use IceWM -- very light weight resource wise, and is compatable
with gtk (gnome) applications and many qt (KDE) applications.
It might be a video config problem.
I had the same with same video card i810.
However, if you wait or press space, it should go forward and finally
boot, but without the ltsp logo or the progress bar.

Hi,
I am new to this LTSP thing and I am having a problem. I tried to search
the archive but it wouldn't let me.
Basicly, the client boots, and starts x and then a black screen.
The X server is correct, as if I use any other it. I think the modelines
are correct as if I use any other it dies.
