I have been running 14.04 with no problems yet. The lack of a shutdown button is not a huge deal especially for ex-windows users, as they are used to opening the applications menu to shutdown any way, and I simply made a desktop file called shutdown.desktop with lxsession-logout as the exec...

Hi, The non-pae version of lubuntu 14.04 is now available for testing. Whilst it is a community release, it will be supported as an LTS. What is now needed is for some people with non-pae machines to check it works okay on actual hardware... There's only so much testing that can be done

The way to do this is to open pcmanfm. Which is in menu under Accessories File manager PCManfm. Or there by default is a folder with the panel that allows you to on the left.
