Hi!
I just switched from my TerraTec DMX to a Soundblaster Live 1024 Player (at least
that's what it's called back here in Germany) and a hoontech digital bracket, and I
have to say, this card is awesome for - well for anything. I'm not sure whether the
analog outputs are as high-quality as

Two more things: 1) Where can I get the best price for a soundblaster live! value
card? 2) Are there more than one "version" of sb live! value card? and if so, will

I have the Hoontech daughter board. I think it was about $37 by the time I got it
shipped into the country. http://www.votronelectronics.com/hoontech/sbio3.htm

Jim,
First off, thanks for the advice...
My card is coming out of a relatively new gateway with an SBLive!
card, and the reason I don't know much about it is because it isn't mine,
I can't seem to find any other info on it in the device manager, I don't
know what is actually
A possible stroke of light though, I seem to recall somwhere back
a post about using the SB Live to get a digital output. Was that
true?
From what I've seen on their web-site, yeah, but I suggest that you (and
possibly a few others here) check out this web-page here. Go to;
Greetings once again,
I am living at a new place, using a new computer, and
unfortunately I am without a CD player with digital out. Translation: I
can't make MD's! The worst part is, I have tons of CD's, plus my roomates
1000 to make mixes, but all I could do is analog. :(

You need an optical output header. The most popular one among the MD

Hi
I've got a SoundBlaster Live 1024 (OEM version) which I want to connect to
my Sony JB930 deck. I've bought some connectors and the Toshiba optical
connectors to experiment with. I've just soldered together a cable to
connect one of the digital outputs from the "Audio Extension" connector to
Craig,
I notice there wasn't any responses to your question and thought I would
jump in. I'm not an expert but up until a week ago was using the SB Live
and the hoontech DB. I had your same problem and others. At first the SB
would
pick up noise from the VIA pci bus, solved that by changing
I have a SB Live value sound card and just got a hoontech addaptor board. I
see a red light from the optical out and my MD recorder says digital in. but
when I try to record it doesn't do anything (like auto-seance the audio
playing) there is no volume control for the digital out in software
I have a SB Live! full version with both daugther
cards and have found your guessing at the problem to
be rather interesting. However, let me give you the
real problem. The problem is that the sound card is a
PCI device and as a result has to share the pci bus
with lots of other devices.
Hey just a quick question ... what is the best way to record mp3's to MD if
i have a SB live with optical hookup. I need something that handles track
marking etc etc.
Unfortunately, no consumer audio card seems to be able to
do that (track marking). Does anyone know if there is _any_
kind of

The software should be easily obtainable and free or shareware.

I found this on the following web site :

I can't seem to get my CD ROM to work with the sb live value card
digitally. It is an ancient vintage 1995 CD ROM made by Panasonic I
think. Does anyone have a list of CD ROMs taht the digital out
actually works? It seems like there was one floating around when I
wasn't interested in the
False alarm, it just wasn't turned on in the mixer. I have both the
digital and the analog connections made and the mixer will enable or
disable either or both.
Now the thing I can't figure out is why the mixer doesn't show balance
controls. When I record form the CD inputs, either
I just got the SB Live Value and the Hoontech cards. I was wonder if
there would be any point to connecting both the digital and analog
cables between the SB live value and the CD ROM? It isn't clear in the
instrutions if you should use one or the other, or both.

Hi,
with the digital I/O daughter boards. There is a bank of pins on
the right hand side of the board labelled AUD_EXT (usually 12 pins
on the value cards, but mine has 40 like the non-value edition SB
