So I was at the U-Pull yesterday, and both 190E's they had there
were newer and had the double-acting sunroofs. Both were closed
and looked like they might still be intact. Does anyone know if
it would be worth grabbing one in order to repair the roof on our

I saw one of those also. My guess is that before the divorce, MB
licensed Bluetec to Cummins so all the Diesels in the fleet would be
Bluetec. Remember, in 2007, there was to be a whole fleet of Diesel
vehicles available to us from Dodge/Crypsler with MB Bluetec engines,
including Cheeps

Have a small gasoline engine from an old go-cart. It's a Tecumseh with a
horizontal crankshaft. Was thinking about pairing it up with a generator to
have a small mobile power source, but not sure how easy it will be to govern
the engine to run at the proper RPMs. Any ideas?

Looks like the perfect opportunity for powering a small internally regulated
alternator. Can't be much though - a large alternator will choke the engine.
Then you need a deep cycle marine as a buffer and a power inverter and you
have a emergency generator set to run a few lights in the house.

Most small engines that run equipment that is left to run unmonitored that I
have seen use the wind off of the fan blades on the flywheel, assuming it is
an air cooled engine, to blow against a vane inside the flywheel housing.
The vane has a spring that counters the action of the wind on

This morning's status report:
The repaired key seems nice and strong. Good. I replaced the
rear-view mirror, that went well. I then removed the passenger-side
B-pillar cover, and the belt assembly was indeed entirely missing.
The proposed replacement bolted in neatly, though the mount at the

Well I know the farm, and it is kinda long and narrow, between the road
and the marsh, and they have about 20 different conveyances running

I used to have this '89 Astro van and one day my wife drove into the side of a
S-10 with it, totaling the s-10. The van front end looked like hell but we had
no money and only liability insurance, it was perfectly driveable so we didn't

Finally got my 85 190D where I can drive it, so have been driving that
for the last couple of days. It seems like it has less power than the
84's I have had. I really have to rev the piss out of it to get it
going sometimes. Anyway, I put a set of wheels at tires for a 124 on
it, and the
I just returned from inspecting over 10 different vehicles with 61x
engines, all of them had a crush washer under the bolt. That, and given
the fact that the epc lists a part number, would say its a safe bet to
assume there is supposed to be one there.

Exactly, so the aspect ratio has to change inversely with the width if
you are changing sizes and want to keep the same diameter. Correct
tire size for a 124, if you want them just a little wider on stock
wheels with no risk of rubbing, is 205/60, which is still not exactly
the same sidewall
