Ok there was a lot of talk about this IDE so I decided to go poke around and
look at it. I had been using Netbeans (Forte too) for a while, but always
found it to have either way too many things you can do with it, and

Did you actually try it out or did you just check the prices? If you
spend more than one hour a day writing java, I would say that IDEA is
worth that money, even if it has to come from my own pockets. Naturally
I would always try to get someone else to pay for

edition since the upgrade is a comparable price)?

Hi,
I'm evaluating different tools for developing J2EE apps with Orion. So, I'm
asking this excellent list which tools that supports Orion regarding
deployment, debugging and so forth.
I know that Kawa Enterprise 5.0 with SP1 do, but maybe there are other ones
that work as fine as Kawa does ??
I use ANT and JIKES to compile.
The tags work for me. The only gotcha there is with it is that the entire
runtime expression has to be enclosed in <%= %>, not just a part of it.

Is anyone of you able to compile your own custom tags which take runtime
expression values as input?
I have been trying to compile my tag library with "Forte for Java CE release
2.0", I keep getting internal compiler errors. The errors only show when I
work with tags which use runtime expressi

I for my part can still see a significant potential for the orion crew
writing documentation before delving into tools and stuff...
other when it comes to the
integration against orion, but i can see potential for the orion crew to
make a couple of modules for forte to get an "ide" that has ejb generation
and so on matching Orion. This way orion application server would allso have

Subject: JBuilder as an IDE for Orion -
Can this work?
Like many
participating on this list, we are in the early stage
I can't speak for JBuilder, but Kawa works very well, so it should be easy
enough to configure JBuilder similarly. You basically set up breakpoints
in your code and configure the IDE to launch the Orion application server
once in debug mode. More detailed instructions can be found at
ilder as an IDE and
debugging environment. We are trying to figure out:
1. Is there any way
to connect the JBuilder debugger to the Orion app server?
2. If so, do you
need to use the Enterprise edition of JBuilder to accomplish
this?
3. If not, what are
folks using out there?
