Go for the SMC Tak 105/2.8 or the SMC Tak 85/1.8 if your looking for something in the portrait lens range. The 85/1.8 is somewhat pricey ($300 or so) but may well be the best screwmount lens of them all. The 105/2.8 usually goes for $140 or so. In longer lenses, the SMC Tak 300/4 is excellent and

There's nothing inherently wrong with having your B&W film developed by a lab. It was good enough for Cartier-Bresson. You do, however, have to make sure it's appropriate. You have to do one of two things: find a lab whose standardized process is appropriate for your film and exposure preferences
