Lightroom and backed up catalogue question

So i finally made it to a Future shop and picked up an external HD to use as my LR back up drive. I managed to get my catalogue backed up, at least i think i have them all, it did not ask that question. Now, very soon i will have to remove my photos from my ibook hard drive, i'm down to 7.5 gig.

I've been asked to scan a whole bunch of old photos for my boss, using her scanner here at work. The glass is pretty heavily smudged and needs to be cleaned. Is it safe to use 70% isopropyl alcohol on it? How about Windex? I don't have a lot of other options here at work, but if you have other

I'm happy with a 200 gig pocket drive that I make my 3rd backup to, which I keep in my car in the alley. A. I have all my master images with me wherever I go. RAW & Jpeg. B. It's offsite, but only 30 seconds away. C. Being USB powered, any computer can access it. D. It's not that expensive.

I would guess that dish soap and fingers are a good combination for cleaning optical glass. Nothing abrasive there, and dish soap will remove any oily film, which is sometimes a challenge with other lens cleaners. Paul PS: I'm SURE I didn't have to put a smiley on that wire brush and kitch
