I have MARS_NWE running here. I had some probelms at first with it not
seeing our local servers. As it transpired, it was because we had so
many servers, they didn't fit into the table it stores the server names.

This is really relatively easy.
First make sure you do have network continuity between your machines.
Second configure each win98 machine to have a gateway address of the Linux box.
Third turn on Ip Forwarding in the Network Config.
Forth configure the IP Fordwarding/Masq.

Recently I installed RH50 on my Hitachi visionbook. Every thing
seems to work fine! Even the Iomega Zip works!! :-) However, the
pcmcia modem card doesn't dial. In the Xwin control panel I set
modem to NONE, and when i configured my interface I directed it to
ttyS2. Any ideas?

I wasn't aware of '/etc/nsswitch.conf'. Changing the default(?) entry from
'files nisplus nis' to 'compat [NOTFOUND=return] files' for the group
and passwd entries did the job.

And when I issue a command like mt -f /dev/st0 rewind or tar -tf
/dev/st0 it spends ages making a few clicking noises then drops back to
the prompt with the following errors :
