I haven't thought about THIS level of flexibility: I meant just the simple way
to create new datatypes and set up sorting rules in PHP code. Your
proposition makes a lot more sense from the user's perspective but

There are not many hooks in SMW at all: you can try to scan the
extensions/Semantic MediaWiki directory on wfRunHooks occurences. So
you'll have to modify the type or add the hook yourself.

The current version of SMW is 1.8, but in gerrit I can see the
branches that are called 1.9 and 1.9-features. Plus of course we have
the "master". WHere is the most recent code and how all these branches
