I would say no. It would be no different than a drain valve, which isn't
required to be tampered. I would however use a model that doesn’t have a built

allowance. So what I am gathering for these posts is that I should
have accounted for 104000 gpm? Even at the number of buildings we actually did
it would have been 5200gpm. I'm sorry but this really sounds way off and
definitely not covered by 13R.

n the situation of a community subdivision where the city main is tapped once,
then the water main runs throughout the project feeding hydrants, domestic and
fire lines, and the same arrangement as figure A.6.5.3(b) is used, would this
require domestic demand to be accounted for?

It's unfortunate that two fire fighters were injured, but the article doesn't
say any residents were. Being a 13R system it did it's job. Everyone egressed
the building. Imagine what the losses would have been without the sprinklers.

The 2002 edition of NFPA 13/13R/13D doesn't address ceiling pockets in
residential occupancies. It is first addressed in the 2007 edition of 13R and
D. Section 6.8.1.5.4 of 13R and in section 8.6.7 of 13D, 2007 edition that is.
Hope this helps.

Take a look at NFPA 13 2002; section 8.14.6.2 or NFPA 13 2007; section
8.15.6.1
I would try to approach it as a platform and your situation defininetly
meets all the requirements listed.
