We have a distinct category of Experience that is community service learning to
emphasize that type of experience. Placements and assignments tend to be
highly specific. Other types of experiences tend to be more hit and miss in
terms of that relationship you are talking about--making it"work.

It's not a classic but The Alienist by Caleb Carr could work for
psychoanalysis. I also like Hard Times by Dickens and that would be considered
a classic. I think bits would work for cognitive, humanistic and maybe
behavioristic or sociocultural perspectives.

For those of us who live in earthquake prone areas a 5.5 is tiny but in places

Anyway, I highly recommend either or both of these exercises. I think we have
developed a much better working relationship with our adjuncts this way. They
are not just those folks who show up at night and that we never see because we
all teach during the day.

require some paperwork to be filed but it goes from minimal for exempt (which
stands for exempt from full and complete review, not exempt from any review),
to expedited which might require specific informed consent.
