the audio pathway in only the loosest sense of the term. Your
schematic omits the real audio pathway, which is what happens starting
from the Touch's outputs.

workaround is setting a reserved IP or static
DHCP via your router. That's not a true static IP, but good enough
most of the time. Or to get a true static IP you can ssh into the Touch
and edit the /etc/networking/interfaces file. But you may need to
re-edit the file after a firmware update.

Interesting box. I don't understand why they call it barebones when it
includes RAM, HDD, and DVD drive, but whatever. I don't think you'll
regret having more RAM and HDD space than you think you need now.

In his OP he said he was listening to music from the PC on the Touch
using the Touch's headphone out, so it sounds like SBS is running. But
you're right that it's good to make sure, because there definitely does
seem to be some confusion about how SB actually works.

That's an interesting way to use a SB Touch. You could install
SqueezePlay on your pc and then control SqueezePlay using the Touch.
But why not use it the way it was intended, which is to connect the
Touch to your stereo using either the analog or digital outputs?

I don't think they're in the wiki, certainly not anything comprehensive.
To make things easier you may want to install SBS on a computer --
temporarily at least -- and play with the settings in the SBS gui and
then see which values change in server.prefs.

You may prefer WinSCP (http://winscp.net/). It's a free graphical
interface that looks like a dual-pane Explorer window (or
Norton/Midnight Commander). One side is the pc, the other is the Touch.

You'll find settings for SQLPlaylist under Extras on the SBS web ui. But
for RandomMix you have to look under My Music Random Mix. For
DynamicPlaylists you can find the settings under Settings Plugins.

So the main thing is, are you _sure_ that the Touch sees your USB
library as /media/sda1? And if it does, are you sure the playlist
folder has adequate permissions for user 'squeezeboxserver' to read and
write to the folder?

There are good options that don't require physical access to the Touch

Press the small hardware reset button on the back. It's on the lower
left side as you face the front of the Touch. If you hold it for ~15
seconds it will do a factory reset of the Touch, and the screen will
confirm that it is doing a factory reset.
