I am just curious why people are using certain IDEs. I am really excited when I am reading (and learning) new stuff (for example the cool plugins you guys sent). Never knew there was a Darcula theme or the Jeddict plugin. I want to use the content for my new talk “The Battle of the IDEs”.

If you already have a platform project, then you already depend on some NB modules. Per what you mentioned about Python, I'm assuming you mean to have the Java editor etc, and as NB already has this ability built in, you can depend on it. It's default is to use javac if nb-javac isn't available.
