subscription based service via the Apple TV, but if this ever happens it would

There is. This is covered in the latest edition of my Apple TV book available

I also demonstrate it in a podcast for AppleVis. But essentially, Apple TV
behaves differently in username and password fields, and you can dictate
character by character.
