I have an iMac, a MacBook, and iPad mini, networked and all using a common
Dropbox account.
The iMac and the iPad show no symptom of power drain (I can of course see
visually on the iPad).
The MacBook (OsX Lion), when connected to Dropbox, warms up, the fan comes on
and the battery drains

When you install Dropbox, a folder appears in your top level, unsurprisingly
called Dropbox. Everything in there sync’s with your cloud Dropbox whenever it

A couple of months ago I installed Dropbox because iCloud does not look after
off site backup for my Word, Excel and PDF files.
I understood that as I created or changed files in folders on my Mac they would
automatically synced to folders in Dropbox with the same name. So I created
Dropbox creates a folder in your directory called /Dropbox/
It will sync what is in that folder.
It doesn't matter what the folders are called.
If you make changes outside that folder (in the /Documents/ directory for
example), Dropbox will not sync it.

Was the new iMac linked to your Dropbox account or was it showing your old iMac
linked to your Dropbox account?
You can run only one installation of Dropbox on a single computer and it can
ONLY be linked to a single account!
What you needed to do

I've transferred the data from a 3.06 GHz Intel core i3 4GH 11333 MHz RAM

NO
I would start by going into 1Password on your Mac and having a look to see
if in the main window under sinking if you can see dropbox sinkings tab if
you can't see this you don't have it configured correctly.

Hi All
I have tried everything trying to sync the above. Changed password from
keychain to agile password, moved to dropbox. Iphone says failed to find data
file in dropbox Try to Reset dropbox settings in Account screen. I cannot
seem find this area, not sure if it means on Mac

as they have improved their Dropbox syncing interface.
