Yes Brian, I had this happen after a new logic board replaced in my 17-inch MacBook Pro. Normally the technician changes the serial number to match the new logic board, but some times they 'forget' to :) Took it back to MacWorx and they 'flashed' the correct serial number. You'll need to take it

Hi Chris, If your wife used your Apple ID (email & password) to make any purchases, those purchases will always be linked to your account and that cannot be changed. The purchased apps are tied to the Apple ID which she was logged in with, at the time of the purchases. You cannot merge Apple ID

the link is kosher (or at least matches password resets that I've done) so without knowing what your apple ID is and if it's close to some one else's it's most probably a result of some one with a very similar apple ID mistaking your ID as their's and having failed to login with their password
