Tired of mucking around with spreadsheets and word processors just to keep
track of all your important data. Got an idea for an iPhone app but don’t know
how to get started? Heard of Filemaker Pro but don’t know much about it?
Filemaker has been around almost as long as the Mac and is powering

Is there any way FMP can be used real time by both computers.
I have tried putting the database in Dropbox. Both computers can access it but
changes made on one cannot be seen on the other.
Any suggestions?

Filemaker has Sharing that can be set up. So you can set up the database to be
shared via the local network.
(Should be in the sharing settings in the File menu from memory).
Re Mail. Sent will only stay in sync if you use IMAP for both email accounts.
IMAP may only work if your

I have made an error. I thought FileMaker Mobile was for use with iPad or
iPhone. It appears it is for Palm OS or Pocket PC. I am sorry to say that I
have neither of those devices.

I have a task that requires transferring details of academic papers
from PDFs into Filemaker Pro ( Ver 11).
I have found that no matter what I do, the last step will not work
with a Preview PDF but will work with Adobe 8 Pro PDF.

It sounds like you have the field defined as a number field (in which case
leading zeros would be meaningless) - a text field would allow leading zeros.

FMpro 8 that will calculate ages accurately - all the options/
permutations of DATE functions i have tried have a problem with leap-
years ie they will calculate ages accurately for birth-dates _not_ in

Application Icon. It will open a wizard to match fields and away you go.

I think it displays .fp5 so it'll run on FM server 5.5 . There is no
Server version 6, it jumps from 5.5 to 7, and version 7 converts the
databases so that FileMaker 6 can't use them.
In a less confusing nutshell:
- FileMaker 6 files work with FileMaker Server 5.5
- FileMaker 7
