Myt Mighty Mouse (I know, yuck!) has developed a problem with the
little scroll ball. It will scroll UP, LEFT RIGHT but not DOWN. Any ideas,
or is it time for an upgrade? It would be a pity to trash the thing as it has
worked very well for me apart from some Bluetooth

Our current one came with our iMac, I will never go out and
deliberately buy one again.
We have given it to our iBook for light duties.
My hope is that there have been improvements in the design.

widgets but mighty-mouse somehow brings up the dashboard and dulls
down the screen and I cannot work out what I am doing with the mouse
that opens the dashboard. Any ideas for me on this one?

In simple terms, the terminal is a way to access to unix side of Mac
OS X.
The terminal is located within /Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app

Thanks to all those who replied. I used Paul's instructions and
disabled the dashboard using System Preferences under Keyboard
Mousewith the pull down menu to off. Seems to have worked.

I'd recommend getting a Microsoft or Logitech mouse, much more reliable as
well.
Only advantage with the Mighty Mouse is the buttons on the side to get
Dashboard, Expose etc but you end up inadvertently pressing them when you
don't want to!

get a new one - mine similarly lost scroll(up) recently and was
replaced under warranty - no problem.
(it had to be replaced through an Apple service centre although I had
bought it from the on-line Apple store but that wasn't a hassle)
the fault _was_ terminal ie: restarts etc didn't fix
Mine does that on occasions, Clive. A vigorous clean of the scroll ball
with cotton buds and some alcohol (surgical spirit, isopropyl alcohol)
does the trick for me.

With it being PC compatible I'm wondering how hackable this mouse is
