While preaction systems are one way to appease the fears of the anti sprinkler lobby, I have major philosophical problems with the rationale of taking a simple, effective system with an incredibly high success rate and very low failure rate and then making it more complicated and trebling the failure mode probability. (As an aside, UK insurers have largely withdrawn their support for pre-action systems and new systems are becoming rare in Europe as a whole). Why not ask those who are objecting to the presence of sprinklers to justify their decision based on evidence/experience of false alarms/ leaks/system failures ? Point out that major museums, galleries, libraries are national archives are all sprinkler protected. Tell that IBM sprinkler their factories and their own machine rooms. Given the time of year, it makes me wonder if someone is suffering from low blood sugar(pre Iftar) or an hyperactive gall bladder (post Futoor). Eid Mubarak !
