When the engine is not running, vacuum still sometimes shows. When I
remove the gauge, it should drop to zero. It's on my list to verify that.

the existing insulation. I removed the galley sink and cut a section of
the adjacent bulkhead away to inspect. The insulation was about 1 1/8 inch

Like Josh suggested, a good machine shop can probably help. Failing that,
I'd take the exchanger to a good radiator shop.
I had corrosion and leakage on the sealing surface of a side plate of the
Atomic 4 that was in Touche' when I bought it. Repaired it with JB Weld
and a flat file.
Had my air conditioner intake plug a few times when in a slip in a
stagnant corner of a marina where trash accumulated. Things stuck in the
elbow on top of the thru hull. I have a tee with garden hose hookup and a
valve on the discharge so I can blow it out.

strainer on Touche'. It's accessible from the starboard lazarette locker.
The strainer is a Perko. Mine has a short glass, not the standard length.
With a standard glass, it would be too tall.

one assumes you sail 0.5 miles from the rhumb line between the upwind and
downwind marks and the arbitrary waypoint is only 3 miles away, then 0.5/3

the simplest ones in the unit requiring no special tools. As I alluded to

Just a reminder to all to check the hoses on your engine. Just completed
an 11 day cruise on Touche'. Once in the home slip, I smelled coolant.
Investigation revealed a pinhole leak in the hose that runs from the
exhaust manifold to the heat exchanger on the back of my Universal 25XPB.

Second Lew Townsend. He rebuilt mine after another Navtec rebuilder
botched it. Excellent to work with.

Touche' has a 1000 watt inverter. I don't run any sensitive electronics
from it, just the coffee maker and the Admiral's low wattage travel hair
dryer.
The unique thing about Touche's inverter system is that it can power all
the 120 AC receptacles throughout the boat. I have a rotary isolator
I have a Vintage Melitta percolator. Uses 900watts. Just under my 1000
watt inverter rating. I have resuscitated it several times.
I like it because the pot lifts off the base. Easy to carry it out of the
galley to pour.

I suspect you'd have to prime it with 545 first. After sanding and prep,
my painter applied 3 coats of high build primer to get the smoothness he
wanted.

The paint got scuffed during Hurricane Ida in 2021. I can see the primer

Long weekend. Took Touche' from its home slip in Mandeville, LA to
Pensacola to get bottom paint and topsides touchup.
Friday - Mandeville to Gulfport uneventful
Saturday - afternoon weather looked really nasty so we just moved a couple
hours down the coast to Biloxi. Squall line hit us about 4
You'll need two dead end bails (eyestraps).
Suggestion, consider standing the jam cleats off the mast with Starboard or
teak pads. Why? So your crew can easily grab the up/down haul line. If
it's too close to the mast it will be hard to grab or your crew will scrape
their knuckles.

As others have said, juxtaposition of the clutches and winches is
critical. I have triple clutches ahead of Barient 22 winches. I aligned
the starboard side of the winch drum with the center clutch. You can probe

I have a 35-1 and did like Richard (your green option) for the
knotlog transducer. I wanted it forward in undisturbed flow.
It's mounted under the V-berth step. Note the white circular inspection
port under the shoes in this pic:

Lewmar genoa car system and hard to find Harken parts. Not cheap but good
customer service.

Ditto. I hoist Touche's main by hand from the cockpit then finish with a
cabin top winch. The halyard runs through a Lewmar rope clutch which is

Sometimes, if you're lucky, you can install two hole saws on the same
mandrel. One the size of the existing hole as a guide and a second one the
size of the hole you want to drill. Otherwise, use Chuck's method.

recognize the convenience of being on the route from the Northeast to the
