 Hello fokes,

I'm just curious to know how many days/weeks/months usually to get our
first information after our case has been numbered with Disability
 Commissioner?

I'm asking this because, I've lodged my banking complaint with them more

than a month before and I was told that my case has been registered and

 the case number is "30/1102".

Whenever I'm calling them to know the position of my case, to their
phone number (011-23386154 Extension 19), an english unknown fellow is
picking up, telling me something in hindi, and putting down the receiver

rudely before I'm asking my next question.

I wish they will place someone kind and english known person in that
 place.

 Regards.

Subject: [AI] Circular/order on providing training to government
 employees
 with disabilities

 Hi all,

 Greetings from Eyeway Helpdesk!

We've been receiving queries on a regular basis where people in
 government
jobs express their desire to get some training to improve their
 efficiency
at work. Section 38 of the PWD Act asks appropriate Governments and
 local
authorities to formulate schemes to ensure employment of PWDs, and such
schemes shall also provide for training of such employees. We have
 however
not been able to find any circular/government order in this regard. The
detailed circular of DOPT on employment issued in 2005 also doesn't
 have
 any such provisions.

If you know any such document of any state/central government, do
 forward
 it to us on helpd...@eyeway.org.

 Hello Friends
Have a nice day to all of you
Today I would like to divert your kind attention towards the "Self
Appraisal" report to be submitted by each of the officer in all cadre to

get further promotion in Indian banking system
A few days ago, Government of India has released the new guidelines to
give promotions in all cadre of officers. According the new guidelines,

each of the officer has to earn average 60% marks in last 3 years for
 appearing the further promotion test

I think that this is a very crucial situation for the disabled,
specially for the visually impaired employee. This is equally true that

he even will not get minimum qualifying marks in Self Appraisal report
because most of them are not able to work properly in the banks due to
 several reasons.

 With Warm Regards

Hai Mohit, what Ajay is telling is also right to some extent You
should try to become more independent, you take driver only till
college gate and back home but inside college premises and classroom
try to be independent why I am telling you this is because now you are
still student but when you get maried if you do not have proper
mobility it will be verymuch difficult your wife cannot assist
everywhere with you and your driver cannot escort everywhere, this
problem with late blinds even I also went through same problem but try
to become independent as much as possible.

[AI] Vacating Disabled coach in New Delhi Railway Station.

2013-04-29 Thread vivekananda
Friends, Here I would like to share a bad experience of Disabled Coach
of Karnataka Express (New Delhi to Bangluru) in New Delhi Railway
Station. I had went to see off one of my visually Disabled friend to
Bangalore through Karnataka Express on 26th April, he had Waiting list
ticket which was not confirmed, I tried him to get into Disabled Coach
which is attached behind Engine, before our arrival the coach was full
of general passangers, we went and complained to Railway Police who
was nearby he threatened us (Agar Jana hi to Jao warna bagh yeha se)
if you want to get in go otherwise run away from here, we went and
even requested the guard also his reply was (I am having other work
also I can't do anything) at last my friend got into the Disabled
Coach and when the train moved he noticed that railway police persons
came in and collected Rs.50/ from each general passangers they also
told my friend you give us Rs.100/ we will get you upper seat inside
the disabled coach so that you can go to bangalore without any
problem. Disabled coach was totally packed with general passangers
until it reached Bangalore. My friend said in future he will never
travel in Disabled Coach. So I request mail members to send complaint
numbers of northern Railways to whom we can complain this matter he
also said in many stations public even threatened him if the situation
of Disabled coach in New Delhi Station is such a manner then what else
the situation is in other station. Please send railway complain
numbers regarding this issue.

Re: [AI] Online concession tickets

2013-06-18 Thread vivekananda
Dear Hitesh, Here is full text of Railway SMS ticket booking.
Railways to try out ticketing through SMS
Jun 18, 2013, 03.58AM IST TNN

There will be a dedicated number on which a text message can be sent
and there will be no need for internet at any stage — booking,
payment, cancellation etc.

NEW DELHI: In a bid to further simplify the ticketing process, Indian
Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) will launch a pilot
project for ticketing through non-internet based mobile phones from
July 1.

This will enable people using non-internet based mobile phones to
access railway ticketing services through SMS or Interactive Voice
Response (IVR) or Unstructured Supplementary Services Data (USSD)
systems.

The scheme, aimed at improving access to ticketing, will be
user-friendly, secure and also eco-friendly, as no printout would be
required.

The objective is to tap the potential of the mobile phone market and
help the common man by providing anywhere, anytime and hassle-free
booking option, an official said.

There will be a dedicated number on which a text message can be sent
and there will be no need for internet at any stage — booking,
payment, cancellation etc.

One will have to register the mobile number with IRCTC as well as
one's bank (one time password) for authorization of payment.

The passenger will have to type the train number, destination, journey
date, class and passenger details like name, age and gender on the SMS
box.

The sender will receive a transaction ID and then make payment by
sending another text message by typing PAY followed by the transaction
ID and the bank password.

On successful booking of ticket, a message will be sent to the user by
IRCTC which will suffice as valid authority to travel along with photo
ID card in original.

Cancellation of tickets can also be done through the cancellation
option available.

The scheme will be on pilot basis and will not be available during 8
am-12 pm for booking ARP/tatkal/general tickets.

Re: [AI] behing humiliated at the railway station

2013-09-15 Thread Vivekananda Doddamani.
Friends Here I would like to add another thing now a days ID proof is
necessary while reserving Railway ticket, I faced a problem recently
while coming from Hubli in Karnataka to New Delhi, by Goa Express I
had showed by Office Government I card while reserving the ticket at
Old Delhi Reservation counter but while coming from Hubli TT told that
in the ticket in ID proof column it is written driving license I
argued and showed my office card but still TT did not agree at all and
told me to pay penalty of Rs.3600/ double the normal ticket of AC 3
tier of normal rate after long argument he left me, my question is
though I have reserved the ticket on Blind Concession how can ticket
reserving person can write Driving License in ID column of ticket so
my request is to all of you is to check their ticket after reservation
immediately.

Re: [AI] how to activate talkback?

2013-12-16 Thread Vivekananda Doddamani.
Friend, first go to samsung settings by pressing left bottom corner
there is a finger touch, then search for accessability which is I
think third last in 30 items of samsung galaxy then inside
accessability the fourth option is talks back double tap on that when
you go inside talksback on right cornor upper side of the screen there
is on & off double tap on it it asks would you like to start talkback
double tap two times on OK then your talksback is started, but first
time you should take help of a sighted person, for me shop keeper
himself switched on the talks back,

[AI] New technology aids the blind do yoga

2013-10-29 Thread Vivekananda Doddamani.
Scientists have developed an innovative software programme that
watches a user's movements and gives spoken feedback on what to change
to accurately complete a yoga pose.
"My hope for this technology is for people who are blind or low-vision
to be able to try it out, and help give a basic understanding of yoga
in a more comfortable setting," said project lead Kyle Rector, a
University of Washington doctoral student in computer science and
engineering.

The programme, called Eyes-Free Yoga, uses Microsoft Kinect software
to track body movements and offer auditory feedback in real time for
six yoga poses.

Rector wrote programming code that instructs the Kinect to read a
user's body angles, then gives verbal feedback on how to adjust his or
her arms, legs, neck or back to complete the pose.

For example, the programme might say: "Rotate your shoulders left" or
"Lean sideways toward your left".

The result is an accessible yoga 'exergame' a video game used for
exercise that allows people without sight to interact verbally with a
simulated yoga instructor.

Rector and collaborators Julie Kientz, a UW assistant professor in
Human Centered Design & Engineering, and Cynthia Bennett, a research
assistant in computer science and engineering, believe this can
transform a typically visual activity into something that blind people
can also enjoy.

Each of the six poses has about 30 different commands for improvement
based on a dozen rules deemed essential for each yoga position. Rector
worked with a number of yoga instructors to put together the criteria
for reaching the correct alignment in each pose.

The Kinect first checks a person's core and suggests alignment
changes, then moves to the head and neck area, and finally the arms
and legs. It also gives positive feedback when a person is holding a
pose correctly.

Rector worked with 16 blind and low-vision people around Washington to
test the programme and get feedback. Several of the participants had
never done yoga before, while others had tried it a few times or took
yoga classes regularly.

Thirteen of the 16 people said they would recommend the programme and
nearly everyone would use it again.

The technology uses simple geometry and the law of cosines to
calculate angles created during yoga. For example, in some poses a
bent leg must be at a 90-degree angle, while the arm spread must form
a 160-degree angle.

The Kinect reads the angle of the pose using cameras and
skeletal-tracking technology, then tells the user how to move to reach
the desired angle.

Rector and collaborators plan to make this technology available online
so users could download the programme, plug in their Kinect and start
doing yoga.

Re: [AI] Accessible voting machine!

2013-12-05 Thread Vivekananda Doddamani.
it's true Gorge Sir, until & unless we know the list of candidates and
their serial number then how will we come to know to which number we
have to press the button, on EVM machine if the names are provided
against the buttons it will take long time to read where there will be
more candidates, for example in Timarpur constituance there were 12
