You get the picture. In order for that to work, a couple things have to happen: (1) the host you are connecting to has to be configured to allow X11 forwarding. This is set up in the sshd config file in /etc (sorry, I'm having system trouble at the moment and don't have it installed, but I think it is called sshd_config.) The default value is no, i.e., do not allow X tunneling. (2) you need to make your ssh connection so as to request X forwarding. With the Linux ssh client, this is done with ssh -X -l userid host. I was about to reply to this, but see that HaywireMac beat me to the punch. My brother didn't seem to have any trouble setting his DSL up. [newbie] LONG-Machine locking up solid altsysrqsresiub no help
Greetings list members, Recently, I have been having problems with my system, evolution and opera 7.11. It has caused me to recycle the machine several times causing corrupted files that couldn't be repaired by me. So, I saved my home directory and reinstalled the system according to a fellow list member's post I set up all my partitions as Reiserfs except for the /boot that I made ext3. Originally, when I upgraded to 9.1 I wasn't paying proper attention to the install and before I knew it.. well you get the picture, not what I wanted. This problem still occurs after the system reinstall and occurs when I click on a link in opera and the machine locks up just as opera tries to load the new page or in evolution when a strange font appears in an email. I tried the system request key combos and got it to reboot once in this fashion, but still didn't properly save data to disk. I just had to do it again a couple of days ago and it corrupted /dev/hda16 which is my /boot partition leaving 2.6% of the files/space fragmented. I read some posts on the opera mailing list about 7.11 locking up on the vendana font and another locking with nvidia video cards. I am seeking comments about my system locking up and why the system request key combo isn't working for me. But running xine and then running mplayer even in command line doesn't produce any idea what wrong is happening after running xine. Further in mplayer I don't get menu of DVD as in xine. What to do to get menu in mplayer? -- L.V.Gandhi 203, Soundaryalahari Apartments, Lawsons Bay colony, Visakhapatnam, 530017 MECON, 5th Floor, RTC Complex, Visakhapatnam AP 530020 INDIA Want to buy your Pack or Services from MandrakeSoft? Re: [newbie] Files disappear from CD
Been intending to look at rox ever since you first mentioned it to me, months ago. When I tried it tonight, though, there were quite a few packages that it wanted to uninstall first. Do you have IceWM installed? Were the probs with the gtk packages? I always had that problem. Evidentily i eventually broke it, since iceprefs doesn't run now Want to buy your Pack or Services from MandrakeSoft? Go to http://www.mandrakestore.com
