I had to do it the hard way with RedHat 5.2, but since using Mandrake 6.0 and 6.1, I have been able to use sndconfig to set up the card. The "no boards found" line tells us that pnpdump is not seeing your card (obviously). Your sound card has the same chip set as mine. I read somewhere something about edge detection with respect to setting up the card, so I went into my BIOS settings, and changed the setting for detection from "level" to "edge". Then I was able to set up the card. I am not a technician, and I have no training whatsoever, so what I usually do, is a lot of reading, and a lot of trial and error. I think I would check the BIOS settings to see if your (I can't remember the correct name) detection mode is set to level detection, or edge detection. I don't know if this setting really did anything for me or not, but if the pnpdump utility is looking for edge detection, and the BIOS is set to level detection, then pnpdump may not be able to "see" the card, hence, the "no boards found" line in the isapnp.conf file. I'm just shooting in the dark, here. Maybe someone with more know-how can lend a hand. Good luck, Ernie On Fri, 22 Oct 1999,R_Yeo wrote: | "Ernest N. I discovered the source of the problem and the solution, and you might want to pass it on, because, judging from the traffic on Dejanews, a ton of people are having the hassle. It is based on a conflict between Win95 versions ending in B or C and AMD K6 cpu's running faster than 300mhz. Both AMD and Microsoft have a patch that cures it. But first, you have to reset motherboard jumpers so your chip is running at 300mhz or slower. then you download the patch, install it, reset your motherboard, and you be done. adios, Steve w. --- Axalon [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: If OS's Ran the Airlines UNIX Airways Everyone brings one piece of the plane along when the come to the airport. I think your swap file is too big although I don't know if that affects speed or not. The maximum is 128mb. You can make two swap files, though. [newbie] dual boot with lilo problem
I have linux on one hard drive(the master drive) and win95(the slave) on another. I set up lilo to let me choose between the two systems, but when I select win95, win95 claims there is a non-system disk in the floppy drive and then it hangs up. There isn't any non-system disk there, so what to do? At present, I switch between the two by changing BIOS. I am considering this solution: 1. Reinstall linux, putting the boot stuff on the win95 hard drive. Change this drive to the master. 2. All the rest of linux goes on its own hard drive which becomes the slave.
