I've tried some messages before, but I don't know if they have been blocked. I
have a very simmilar situation that the one described in other notes.
We have zSeries 800, 4.5G and 1.5G expanded, and we have a guest SuSE 8, 2G in
size, Oracle 10g. The SGA in Oracle is fixed to 1.7G (this is

The file corruption you see is probably caused by some filesystem corruption.
When a filesystem is corrupted you may see a system hang when the file is
accessed, although you should not. You should see some messages on the console
or in syslogd.

I'm not sure what Adam's arrangement was, but I've run Bochs on CentOS
3.4 for S/390 (RHEL 3 Update 4) under Hercules on Fedora Core 3 x86
I entirely agree, but outside those of use who know better ;>, there is the
myth that the mainframe is this unbelievable cpu workhorse. Therre are some
here who equate mainframe with supercomputer. It is difficult to dispose of
these ideas. Sometimes proof is the only antidote.

S/390 computer cycles are expensive.
