The fuel line leak I had in a W115 car was where the metal line rubbed
against the chassis entering the engine compartment from below. Check the
whole length from the tank to the engine.

Thank you all for your advice on the fuel filters. I replaced them and the car
runs fine now. Definitely a stream of bubbles in the inline filter so I will

That is the best way! Then you can unplug the electrics and it won't
run your battery down! I am proud to say I have no Hirschmanns
plugged in. I quit putting new masts in about 10 yrs ago.
BTW, I have new in the bag antenna masts for 123, 124 and 126/107
cars. If anyone wants to buy one,
Antenna is broken, stuck up.

I had a leak between #3 and #4 IFIRC, on the old 300D, discovered
when I pulled the head. Also leaked in a couple of other places --
PLEASE use new head bolts when you do a gasket change! The bolts may
not have stretched too much "by the book", but the failure rate is
too high to suit me
If the gasket is blown between the cylinders, you will have very low
compression on both. BTDT.

Did you replace the two o-rings on the center bolt in the oil filter
housing? When those go bad, they let the oil drain out of the oil
gallery overnight, and it takes ages to re-fill the tappets.
Otherwise, they do go bad, and you may need to replace them.

The headlight wipers was an option actually. I have seen quite a few
without them. In fact, more without than with.

You're correct on the mpg -I get about 31-32 on my 90 300D 2.5t. Mine does
not have the headlight washers-but most I see around seem to.

I went to Lowes and got Rustoleum primer, and some silver. Turned out

Well replacing #3 glowplug with manifold in place went alot easier than
#2. I think I will be able to replace any of the 1-5 with the manifold
in place now. Next, moved on to replace the oil pressure sending unit
