I had a leak between #3 and #4 IFIRC, on the old 300D, discovered when I pulled the head. Also leaked in a couple of other places -- PLEASE use new head bolts when you do a gasket change! The bolts may not have stretched too much "by the book", but the failure rate is too high to suit me

Did you replace the two o-rings on the center bolt in the oil filter housing? When those go bad, they let the oil drain out of the oil gallery overnight, and it takes ages to re-fill the tappets. Otherwise, they do go bad, and you may need to replace them. Takes a few weeks of driving to ge

I don't see why not, they are adjusted that way with the electronic tool! Lots of noise or very quiet and smoky? If you run it til it warms up, late timing will give you excessive smoke at high speeds but quiet idle, too fast will give you excessive idle noise warm and smoke at low speeds, ty
