My records are at home, but I would be more than glad to put together a
top 50 of the summer for you guys.

I will also state that Kent, or ANYONE else, if you want to know what Im
playing, ask me when i'm playing it. I have NO idea what I played that
night! I probably would not even been able to answer that question 5 mins
after I played!

I DO know I played 3 tracks off that Samuel Sessions on Klap Klap. The new
Klap Klap is really great too!

Also, Petter's Some Polyphony on Border Community. Probably a Rekorder
record or 2. *shrugg*

Um... I don't really understand what you're talking about. Are you
talking about Serrato, or what Google tells me is a South African
PsyTrance label?

Derek was playing records when I saw him in NYC, and he's played
records every time he's played in Iowa City. Maybe Derek does Final
Scratch sets sometimes, but it's not because he can't play records.
Derek is one of the OG midwest DJs*, and it's always a good time when
I've seen him.

If you want to beef with someone about music, that's fine but I
thought we already had the big fight over technology.

Nice slow disco dub mixes by Mark Ernestus. Nowt too ground breaking but

Re: (313) records in the basement (was late again)

2006-02-22 Thread Michael . Elliot-Knight

A dehumidifier would be a good place to start.
Also - get your records up off the floor and preferably into wooden boxes.
Getting the records further away from the cement basement floor will help
avoid any moisture/dampness that the cement attracts.
Boxes made of pinewood would be best as they are more porous than a hard
wood like oak - the wood will absorb the moisture that might otherwise
penetrate into the paper record sleeves.
Cool spaces are fine - cool dry spaces are better.

I can see the plastic milkcrates crates being useful in that the open
spaces allow for air flow but it looks like your records are pretty well
packed in them so that negates the benefit of the milkcrates. Plus,
plastic will repel moisture. Which means that it will have nowhere else to
go but into the paper sleeves of the records.
Get wood!

You could also add a small fan to keep airflow moving. Vornado makes an
excellent small fan that really moves air eventhough it doesn't oscillate.
They are a bit pricey as fans go but when the days get hot humid you'll
be glad you spend the extra cash.

have to say this is prime fl work. The ian o'brien remix does not
disappoint either.

Just a side note... I enjoyed fabrice's new stuff in the cold dank of my
basement. I've had to transport my entire setup from the attic, as we are
expecting a new addition to the family. I know that I will have to deal
with moisture issues when the climate warms up. Anyone have any thoughts

preserving vinyl in a mildy hostile environment? You can see the setup

Hey Francis.

I did a 'review' of it a week or so ago.
Everyone's bugging out on this record!
It's Duncans fault, he bought one first.
Even Ashley just asked if I had one!
Ashley doesn't recommend me a techno record too often, so it must be
catching alot of ears.

I think it's very good too.

And I'd like to know more about Jamal Moss if anyone knows. I've heard a
grand total of 3 tracks by him, evryone was killer.

I thank you...

shadow of an illuminati pyramid. it's a speech by some guy who outlines how

one and the same and are planning on taking down america!

what i've picked up recently:

Matzo Pauli EP on Viewlexx -- special order; i had been looking for this for
months. This must be a repress as my copy is on plain ol' black vinyl instead
of the translucent red from the first run. :( it's still a great record -- i
love the slower, melancholy disco A-side.

Rhythim is Rhythim Beyond the Dance reissue

A Certain Ratio - The Graveyard and The Ballroom CD reissue. I can't believe
I've never delved into their backcatalog earlier. Great combination of albums
to put on one disc, as you get the archetypal Martin Hammett production on the
first half and a really good live performance on the second.

Syncom Data Solid Industries on Bunker -- solid indeed, very dark and sparse
and slamming. bet those responsible have been listening to a lot of Rob Hood
records lately...

UR Windchime -- two sides of greatness. gorgeous Strings/Jaguar-esque A
side, dark fast electro on the flip. both sides scream Detroit louder than a
photo of Hart Plaza.

Don't really know myself. If anyone on the list has more info on this
release I would appreciate it. Picked this up from Wilhite's store...it
came with an insert that has some anime characters on it.
On FXHE records (OAS #1). There is a message printed backwards on the
insert that sez 'The First in a series of Limited Edition one-sided
recordings from Omar-s and S muffuka'. It's a dark-sounding house track
that sounds almost drexciyan with this underwater synth loop and weird
scratchy wind-like effects over it.

Well, not new by any means but the B.E.F. (British Electric Foundation)
record I found, Music for Listening To, is pretty damn cool - Martyn Ware
and Ian Marsh doing the Sheffield sound proud

also found Heaven 17 Penthouse and Pavement and another B.E.F. record
Music of Quality Distinction pt1 which has to be one of the stranger
records to feature guest singers (Tina Turner and Gary Glitter?)

Dajae's Higher Power LP and Fakes Phonies EP with remix duties by
Gemini, Paul Johnson, Glenn Underground and Johnny Fiasco - all on Cajual.

during that same hunt I found New York by the Micro Chip League - a late
80s electro synth-pop thing with quasi-industrial style lyric delivery
talking about NYC obviously

I quite like that new Kevin Saunderson record on Ante Zenit...classic KMS,
and a great party record it's $16 though.

2003-09-23 Thread O.L. From The Basement
Other than the new Submerge releases, the following are doing it for me:

K-Led Tomorrow In The Morning 2x12 (Force Inc. Germany) -- pure sweet
Detroit techno!
Arne Weinberg Cupola EP (Keynote/ Groundzero Netherlands) -- pumpin'
melodic Detroit techno!
Scape One The Future ... It Will Never Be The Same (Kone Switzerland) --
dark moody electro.
Jacek Sienkiewicz The Evidence (Recognition Poland) -- pumpin' minimal
techno house.
Bangkok Impact Featuring Kassen Colour Over Taste (Vynalogica
Netherlands) -- italo disco with a twist.
Decal Brightest Star 2x12 (Rotters Golf Club UK) -- pumpin' dark to
melodic electro.

 Hello.

 So folks, what's hot?

Not bought many new records lately - have I missed much?

Picked up Vainqueur/Tikiman's 12 on a new? label called 'Stay Tuned'. Not
a particuarly new sound or anything, just some very nice deep
 business..
anymore releases on this label I may have missed? or is this the first?

oh, and I just caught up with my mail, the q from Charles? regarding US
 radio...
Surely there's only one man to recommend - Mr Macqueen out of Chicago! But
 you sussed that already right?!
