RE: (313) stuff on discogs for sale

2008-01-30 Thread Odeluga, Ken
Hmm.

This guy is also verging on getting banned from some 313-related lists on
Discogs and has also caused probs on the UR forum too.

He seems to have a dispute with Pacou, to whom he often refers obliquely:

(PACman Overall Universal)

...although I don't know what it is specifically.

Unfortunate chap.

Berlin is well worth a visit if you can make it over. Tresor is
absolutely massive, the upstairs room could hold 1000 people with ease
and the sound system downstairs is one of the loudest we've ever
played on. It's also one of the strangest, the bass is complete
separated into it's own stack and when you fire it up everything in
the room that isn't nailed down vibrates like mad, it just fills the
air with dust :) The room has clearly been set up for madness,
watching people struggle down the long corridor raised a few smiles.
The people where great and the only thing we struggled with was the
menus, our German is rubbish so each meal was surprise :)

Berlin in so saturated with ex-pats from everywhere else, you won't
need an interpreter. English is by far, the 2nd most spoken language
there now, you won't have a problem.

RE: (313) stuff on discogs for sale

2008-01-24 Thread info
Please don`t start a flaming war on here, I'm NOT interested in this issues and
cases.

I know, that I've been a victim of their actings actions.

I don`t hurt anybody or crash anybody`s life and business due my own serious
sucessfull networking or anythings else.

I`m not interested in people like pac or whatever and their own business for
real.

I just take care on myself and my own business and this is just eveybodys own
right freedom.

I please you to stop with acting like this everywhere and keep calm in everyway.

the music media business mainly in dj business is NOT a battle field of war
zone, but friendly competition and a contest in a sportsway ( so if you`re not
a sportsman like me with skateboarding in my youth besides djing and record
collecting, you don`t have a clue what really a competition is and you act with
unfair methods, there fore you recive the red card and even harder) with your
talent in djing or whatever.

Me is just a techno house electro 3 turntable Diskjockey (dj since childhood
for real, grown up with motown and vinyl as well as direct drive
recordplayer in public since early youth started in school at summer
festival 1990 and professional techno club dj since 1996 officially) AND
professional Manger (graduated occupation in Industrial business management)
NOT a producer / live act, very different, just respect this.

thanks in advance.

regards.

i swear- the postal service got slower after that stuff went down.

one thing i've learned- whether sending or recieving from the us, it seem
to go a lot quicker if you fill out one of those silly declaration tags at
the post office. a pr budddy in montreal was sending me stuff and taking 3
weeks at least. then he started using the forms and it takes 3 days.

How much did you have to pay in shipping to get that though? When it
comes to shipping I admit to being a complete [EMAIL PROTECTED] Standard
surface shipping from the US usually takes about 4-6 weeks whereas the

I use global priority - it's usually CDs and I can pack 4-5 in a jewel with
art, bubblewrapped, for $5 (small, flat rate GP mailer)...and about 9
jewels packed (4-5 CDs apiece) in a large flat rate mailer for $9. Not bad

I have stacks of flyers from the Cisco people for the Transmat releases so
if you're in Oz and would like one, send me your mailing address (privately)
and I will post one to you... (If I can overcome my dreaded hate of queues
in post offices, he he. I owe someone else on this list a big parcel too.)
There is some good info on there.

Cisco has exclusive distribution. The Japanese market is hugely supportive
of Transmat artists and the people are really dedicated. I am sure that the
releases will find their way out there eventually.
So many major distributors in Europe have gone under that it's difficult to
get things out there these days in current circumstances.

I believe the Derrick May Edits CD on the Movement package is only available
with the Japanese edition and that is because Derrick didn't want people on
a wider level thinking it was a mix-CD, per se.

Microworld album on transmat is faaantastic!!!

Minto told us it was great, so my buddy Dan picked it up at the Festival
that day. We listened to it in the hotel room that evening (goes well with
whiskey and cokes). Next day I picked up my own copy at festival. Following
day I told another friend it was great, so he picked up a copy as well. We
listened to it a couple times on the drive back home after movement.

My favorite tune is DB. So catchy, smooth, and beautiful! Also, is that a
Talking Heads sample in the song TV?? Exotica is lovely as well, great work!

Will this be released on vinyl?

Making us WORK!
I brought that issue up also, about a month ago I think. Transmat seems to
have some deal with Cisco records in Japan to distribute their music (at
least the CDs).
However, that means that they get released primarily in Japan or imported
to the US/UK with huge import fees added. Is the Japanese fanbase bigger or
more likely to buy?

Then again it comes with all the cool looking Japanese text and maybe those
nifty Obi strips (although on CDs they're more like folded pieces of
paper).

If they release in the worldwide then everyone
would order via the web from the US, and just
order multiple things pay a cheap shipping cost
for example a US released 12inch 6.99 average
plus 5.00 shipping equals 11.99 one imported
12inch in the US is 11.99 base price...

Well they're pretty nuts about detroit techno (any Japanese listmembers
on 313 want to chime in?)

It's all about money for the label, and the distribution.. and wait,
before I get jumped: I don't mean that in a bad or insulting way
either. i mean in the past with Detroit Techno getting global
exposure, it was the UK and Belgium (Network Buzz labels
respectively, later RS too, also Tresor/Hardwax) who worked deals to
license or publish or distribute Detroit artists that were outside of
Detroit. Now Japan is taking interest.. and actually has for some
time now. If you are a detroit label and someone wanted to help you
put out a whole mess of your music and pay you nicely for it... I can
see it's an attractive model to someone like Transmat who has a really
great reputation for music but not always the best mechanisms for stock
dissemination, exposure, pressings, CDs, etc. etc.

I'm just happy there's so much new music coming out... looking forward
to that Microworld too.. Also what were some of the other artists I
remember seeing at the Cisco tent at Movement? There were a couple of
names I didn't immediately recognize... but I didn't want to get the
CDs without hearing them first actually.

had brand spankin new reissues of the first Planet E Designer Music 12. They

Both of these have that characteristic West London vocal
chorus. I think
I may be getting tired of it.

yeah, im not sure how i feel about broken beat stuff right this
minute. perhaps im just being unintenionally reactionary, but it
seems like theres a huge push behind it right now without any new
stellar tunes to back it up. afronaught and g force spun here on
friday, and while they were good, they werent mind blowing. and as
for records that have come out, i guess its just like everything
is sounding sameish. there hasnt been any tunes that crush any
dancefloor like hold it down, loose lips, or this aint tom
and jerry anytime recently. i was massively dissappointed with
the bugz rmx of the phuturistix track after a few listens, and
alot of their other stuff has just been mediocre. ive been feeling
john arnold's stuff alot more than the west london cats recently.
perhaps its because his stuff sounds more raw. the west london
stuff is rapidly approaching over production IMO. some of my
favorite broken beat records of the last year have been the
twisted funk releases simply because of their rawness. recently it
seems to be the concensus of people i chill with all the time that
broken beat is best mixed up with other genres, and i feel like it
might be because theres just not enough stellar material to play
unless you dig out every anthem or semi anthem the scene has
produced.

Kinda cool, but I dunno. Didn't sell me for some reason. Way
more into
that Kelley Polar.

ill be getting my copy of the kelly polar tommorrow. if that rmx
is the same one that was on the verve rmxed LP, then yeah i was
totally underwhelmed as well. i guess the concept of metro area is
better for original material than for remixing.

Someone please yell at me if any of these are grave mistakes -
before it's
too late! ;)

i feel you on your passes. i hope youre feeling that new mahogani
more than when you picked it up. that tune is year end top 10
material for sure. what a beautiful record. and i picked up that
ron trent rmx of the amp fiddler, and while its probably my least
favorite amp related record thus far, its still pretty nice.

Agreed 100% with all that, and the stuff above it that I snipped out. Even
'Got Me Puzzled' (which I think is wicked) has not really found its way into
many of my sets lately. Mostly just Domu stuff, and Titonton, but they're
really doing their own things, and Domu might even be getting a bit similar
to himself, but I'm just not sick of it yet.

Yeah. It has grown on me, but I'm not sure that I'd rate it quite that high
personally. I just think it's really nice and definitely beautiful - but
maybe it's just not different enough from the pack to really knock my socks
off. I'll definitely be playing it for a while though. No complaints with it
really. :)

Thought this sounded nice too - but just not different enough from the
standard Ron Trent style to justify a purchase. Think I'm going through a
'bought too many records in the last three months and want something really
distinct' phase maybe.

its not the technology, its the way people use it. it has the potential to
produce something that sounds like music with minimal human input. i that
people are right be be wary of new technology which even further remove
coarse, unpredictable, human input which in turn may result in something
fairly sterile and uninvolving. not to say that it won't produce good

its not the technology, its the way people use it. it has the potential to
produce something that sounds like music with minimal human input. i that
people are right be be wary of new technology which even further remove
coarse, unpredictable, human input which in turn may result in something
fairly sterile and uninvolving. not to say that it won't produce good
results as well. anyway it's all pretty abstract at the moment.

Philip you are The Man. That's what I was trying to say.

Well John has 60 tracks stored on his apparently, so that's a lot of tracks.

Still some people are missing the point. It is an extra, something you can use
to play ot new tracks.

I know some of you who make music and spinn, might consider it to use to test
their tracks (alltough you can do that on CD Too ;-)).

And For the guy who posted that it didn't belong in a François K dj set, I'd
say
have you seen him play out recently. The man used CD's, and a laptop last time

Well my, my, that's news to me! I had no idea!! Whatever next! I eat my
vinyl.

Cheers

A lot of the Body and Soul folk are using cds these days: Danny Krivit, if I
remember correctly, does. FWIW, I can only picture myself using something
that has some kind of creative incentive. This Final Scratch, if it is a
straight imitation of yer technics doesn't offer that to me, it only seems
to offer the laborious task of recording thousands of MP3s from records. (My
little brother, on the other hand, has his entire music collection solely on
his hard drive in the first place. It'd perhaps be of more appeal to him.) I
like to think that if someone showed me the creative advantage to it, I'd
have no problem, mind... (like showing the early 60s me the sonic
possibilities of Robert Moog's piano emulator.) Just now I don't see it. And
if I may speculate, there's all too many people working along the obvious
analogy lines: Coldcut's Video mixing stuff - if that isn't just a complete
lack of imagination then surely it's a pretty poor joke.

I think CDs could come in more as it allows people to play a greater range
of music and access to the latest sounds - it costs a lot to get an acetate
done, it's so easy to burn something. I thought of this today, so it could
be that, on that basis, it becomes cool. If you can sell it to the public
that's ultimately the test, isn't it? At the end of the day the wider market
decides.

The difference comes with your approach to DJing... For hip-hop or techno
DJs, turntables make perfect sense because they're trying to keep the music
flowing. Francois and Danny Krivit are a bit more about keeping the *mood*
flowing, basically playing out records to set an atmosphere, like David
Mancuso at the original Loft parties (he used turntables, but usually
refused to mix records at all).

Perlon and Playhouse are both record labels. I guess they get lumped
together because they are both German and put out quirky house and techno.
Check:

http://www.mad-net.de/data/labels.html

...and Luomo is aka Vladislav Delay (not a record label). As has been
mentioned, his Vocalcity LP is very good, and his latest ep on Force Tracks
called Carter is some really beautiful vocal dubbed out house, which for
some reason (probably its laidback style) reminded me of Promised Land.
Long and dreamy.

Whaaat? I heard from hardwax that it would only be available
through them! Grrr

Oh well. I've had it for a couple weeks now it's choice, though as my
friend put it there's really not any techno in it, so if you're
looking for stuff more like the Burial Mix records, it's not really like
that. Basically, it's super, super deep reggae, very rootsy actually.

Cheers,
