I would love to hear the story behind how you realized the founder had
taken it as far as she could; how you found the person that could take it
farther; and how you convinced the founder that you could take her baby and
do a better job raising it.

I understand you likely don't want to discuss that in a public forum but I
am still curious. Really good job and I wish you the best.

I click through the 500 channel wasteland and most of the time can’t find even
one thing to watch/record, much less 16. I think that’s one reason for the
popularity of streaming, there’s nothing left on broadcast. Although honestly
I go through the “new releases” on Netflix and can’t find anything I really
want to watch either.

I had hoped that after the election and inauguration, it would be safe to watch

I am working on this for a campus that takes care of abandon and abused

We have Epmp for outdoor infrastructure and Mikrotik for all Indoor

We are setting up radius with a portal to allow the parents to disable
service on a schedule or manually if needed. So far a great challenge
but I am about to pull what hair I have left out trying to figure out
these certs and getting the server to pass authentication to Capsman.

If you have commercial vehicle insurance and are not currently doing
pre-employment drug tests and drivers record checks, I think you will find
that the fine print of your insurance contract states that your coverage is
null/void without pre qualification of every driver. Not a thing you want
to discover when somebody crashes a 3/4 ton van and causes $45,000 of
damage plus liability for third parties' medical bills.

The Shark Tank guys were never in. The actual deal paperwork we got
wasn't even close to the deal they proposed on the TV show. It's called
reality TV.

Almost every single deal now comes with royalties, commissions, and no
real money up front... they just want an option for 5 years to purchase
at the same equity level. It's actually quite a scam, but we got some
publicity out of it and have moved on. :)

Re: [AFMUG] background checks for potential employees

2017-01-27 Thread Ken Hohhof
Just one minor piece of advice - see if you can specify what information you
do and do not want to see. It's hard to unsee it once you've seen it.

There's a lot of data they can easily include like credit score,
bankruptcies, convictions, etc. Some of this information may be relevant -
you may not want an employee with burglary or drug convictions going into
customer houses unsupervised (or driving your vehicles or handling your
expensive equipment). Or you may not want to see some of this information.
If they include it in the report, you may have a hard time arguing in the
future that you didn't look at it. I would argue if you're not going to use
it in hiring decisions, maybe you don't want to see it. On the other hand,
if it would look bad in some future lawsuit trying to explain why you hired
this guy despite XYZ, then maybe you did want to see XYZ.

Some places go out of their way to hire ex cons, like Felony Franks, home of
the Misdemeanor Weiner:

https://felonyfranks.com/

Jon Oliver has done some shows on the difficulties facing released prisoners
trying to re-enter society and hold a job.

Define low cost... Something like the 256QAM Lumina, yes, or the Exalt
ExtremeAir G2 some of their resellers were running a promo on. Something
suitable for 250-300Mbps FDD links.

Not used or refurb equipment, just something basic and single polarity that
costs more than an AF11 or B11 (because we need 18 or 23 here, 11 GHz will
be hard to coordinate), and for shorter distances.

Re: [AFMUG] 11ghz vertical separation

2017-01-27 Thread Mathew Howard
Yeah, the B11 is in MiMo mode, so this is assuming that we'll be able to
get sufficient frequency separation. I was mostly wanting to know if I need
to be concerned about the dishes being too close together because of the
B11 using both sub bands - If I keep the dishes where they currently are,
there's only about a foot between the two (the new link will be replacing
an existing 3.65ghz dish). I can probably lower the new dish some if I need
to, but I'd have to get up the tower and make sure I'm not going to be
getting too close to any trees if I go lower.

My 18 year old son can type crazy fast on his iPhone with two fingers...
but he is crazy slow on a regular keyboard. LOL

Compare that with my 24 and 22 year old daughters, who are both crazy
fast on a regular keyboard AND crazy fast on their iPhones. I can still
beat them on a keyboard (just barely), but it's fun when we race. :)

Maybe assume he is abbreviating "Usted" which is the more polite or honorific
form of "you" in Spanish.

In which case, you deserve at least a 20% raise. Or he could go back to "you"
which is short for "hey, you" and keep your pay the same. It's up to him, but
if you're an Usted, you deserve to be paid accordingly. It's a small price
for all the typing he's avoiding, not to mention the prestige of having an
Usted on the payroll.

If you are operating the B11 in MiMo mode, you will need to have sufficient
frequency separation between the B11 frequencies and the AF11’s since the B11
will be transmitting in the same half band (high/low) that your AF11 will be
receiving in at the same location.

I’m with you, but this is the way the world is going. Things and devices. No

People even complain about needing a router. They don’t even want a wire, I

I understand there's many more mobile devices but I don't understand how a
household doesn't at least have one computer. A cheap $200 chromebook even
would make life so much easier.

Sometimes you just need a keyboard and larger screen instead of a tablet or

What did you do with the customer with the TPlink that could stream netflix but
not surf?

Re: [AFMUG] OT: Why does txt spk bother me so?

2017-01-27 Thread Jay Weekley
You're old like me. I can almost understand some abbreviation in text
but when I see things like ur in emails or other more formal
communications I cringe as well. Even worse for me is when people
actually verbally say things like LOL or that just TMI.

I would ask SAF for the older Lumina Series.

Anyone recently get a great deal for an 18 or 23 GHz (single polarity) licensed
link? Looking at various options for something full ODU, single polarity,
1024QAM.

Would also consider an older tech 256QAM radio set if the pricing is amazingly
good.
