I don’t understand the mind of some people, who call them to be an Illayaraja fan and who talk more about A.R.Rahman and how bad his music is than about how great Illayaraja’s music is. I don’t understand what is their real problem with Rahman, is it the music itself, or its popularity. Irrespective of who is the composer, Music has one single purpose. Is it so difficult to understand the oneness of music? And who can better teach you the oneness of music than Illayaraja, who has covered every possible genre of music in his repertoire and yet makes us feel that it is all music, just Raaja’s music? I guess if you are a fan of Illayaraja, and if you have really understood his music and its purpose, it is so simple to accept and appreciate anybody else’s music. If not, then you fail Illayaraja, his music hasn’t educated you enough. (In this particular case I am so devastated that he who commented about the music doesn’t know what background score in a movie is meant for, and he calls himself Raaja fan) I get as exhilarated by that worldly interlude in ‘Dil Gira Daftan’ from Rahman’s Delhi-6 as I get in the thundering coda of ‘Om Shivo hum’ from Raaja’s ‘Naan Kadavul’. The kind of music in the songs that I compare here has nothing in common in its sound and yet the purpose is the same. Illayaraja is a way and A.R.Rahman is another way to attain a musical Nirvana. Everybody has the right to choose his own way but the one who foul talk about the other ways is no different from those extremists who in the name of religion, do things which their religion itself doesn’t preach. I don’t believe in religion but I believe in a God and in the same way I believe in music and I take the best of both to pave my own way to reach its purpose. I am both a devotee of Illayaraja and a Rahmaniac and I find it perfectly normal and rational to be so. And some call it incomprehensible and eccentric? I don’t know how to answer them because they never really explained to me why they feel so. When A.R.Rahman wave was spreading all over India, everyone told that A.R.Rahman’s popularity is not because he is a genius or he has any talent but because he borrows heavily from western music but it is the westerners who now say that they have never heard a music score like that of ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ before. And so where did Rahman borrow all this long? Nobody seems to be talking about this. And what is this cry about Illayaraja deserving many International Awards and not A.R.Rahman? These are utterly ridiculous arguments. Oscar or Golden Globe is not given to greatest music composed by the greatest music composer of all time from a country. Why can’t we be practical and realistic about these awards? Raaja is contended in whatever he does in Indian films and if he gets a chance he will definitely do it right in an international movie too, I believe in it more than any other so called Raaja fan. And do you mean you want Illayaraja to win an Oscar for his background score in ‘Naan Kadavul’ to prove that he is the best background score composer in, the country? An Illayaraja doesn’t want that because he has no intention to go global or is in no contention with any Rahmans out there to prove his genius. Now if both Illayaraja and A.R.Rahman were nominated for their respective scores in ‘Naan Kadavul’ (though Raaja has slightly overdone it in Naan Kadavul) and ‘Slumdog Millionaire’, and if I say A.R.Rahman deserves it, then I can be crucified. I had recently seen the Hindi version and the following are my comments on hindi vis a vis tamil versions: Only 2 songs are good in Hindi: Tu meri adhuri pyas si Gujarish and another one a solo number. But the climax in Hindi version is excellent and some touches in Hindi is excellent than Tamil Version. As said by Murugudass in one of his interviews: Aamir was a professor while Surya was just a student. Hindi version is more appealing than Tamil Version. The story is the usual one.. I love ARR's bgm.. He rocks.. When it comes to songs, choreo is a bit bad.. imagine if it was done by rajusundaram or brindha ... taxi is good.. The usage of graphics is unnecessary in chinnamma.. or he must have used them effectively.. hero is dancing, ghosts are flying.. they are not related.. if we compare this with Porkalam Enge from Thenali which had similar visuals / themes,KS Ravikumar did justice for the song.. Camera, dts mixing by sivakumar (for the first time, i think), art direction, rerecording are really good.. the vehicle (story) which carries all these things is a bit weak.. even if the story is weak, rerecording takes care of the movie.. i love the first english song.. A technically sound film from a new director.. When ARR's name was shown on the screen, there was a great applause.. ARR rocks!!! The story is a oft repeated and done to death boy sees girl - falls in love at first sight - girl does not reciprocate but later is convinced - another girl loves the boy - misunderstanding between the boy and the original girl - patch up - second misunderstanding - original girl pretending to sacrifice her love and asking the boy and second girl to be together - boy mouthing some cliched ' love cannot be measured in percentages ' dialogues and finally boy and original girl walk into the sunset. That's the story in 2 lines. You still want to go and sit in a theatre for 2 hours ? Maybe yes... And that's because the driver is cruising full speed and completely in control. No need to wear seatbelts. You are in safe hands. Each song barring (and this is a personal opinion) the Meenaxi re-hashes are an absolute delight to listen to in Dolby. Pump up the volume !! What's more, there are almost 3 english tracks as part of the BGM. Two tracks play upto the end of the 1st stanza while the 3rd only plays 4 lines. R B, Hip Hop genres :):) Ya ! you may not close your eyes and end up seeing the song picturisations and compare it to the difference in quality between an asterix / tintin comic book to a chacha chaudhary. LOL. The young director seems to have got his hands on some special effects package and has gone overboard using them. Or he had plenty of moolah still left over. A lot of them though are again oft repeated - like the graphics in 'Marudhani' may remind you of the film 'The day after tommorow'. 'Chinamma' may remind you of some of Shankar's works though this looks pale in comparision. ' Taxi Taxi' comes on twice, the second one being towards the end as I guess they reshot the song as an afterthought. I was very happy to see my friend Blaaze on screen in the song. I personally think he has a lot of potential which still remains un(w)rapped -:) Sakarakkati is strictly for the dozen Shantnoo fans, the dozen what's her name heroine fans and the millions of A R R fans. - Vijay Iyer

Speaking at the launch function of the film (Yelelo), Rahman said that director Parthiban had narrated two stories to him. He felt that there was ample scope for folk music in the second story, which he had accepted and is titled 'Yelelo'. Rahman said that for this movie he has decided to blend the local folk music elements with Irish folk music songs. He hoped that this experiment will present these styles in a new light. Dear Friends, It's true. This is my experience with KM Music conservatory. It was hot sultry afternoon. I had already got permission from my boss for getting the prospectus of KMMC.A car was heading towards Anna Nagar, so i toogot into it. I told the driver, i will get down at Vadapalani, but the driver was kind enough to drop me at the holy gates for us. Yeah the gates of Rahmanji.I called up KMMC Office. Due to some network problem i had to keep on calling them thrice. I told them i'm waiting at gates of Rahmanji's residence. I was told to wait there and they will send a person to take me. I wonder if anyone would send a person to pick us, if we fail to make ourselves. When i entered, the reception showed me a warm smile and cognized me as i called them thrice :) I was then introduced to this Noble Lady Mrs.Jothi Nair Belliappa. She was very soft spoken and she attended all her calls with lots of patience and with same tempo. It's difficult to repeat the same details again and again. But she was maintaining her cool. Wow!. It was at that time Mr.Rajeevan had called. She was so humble, in replying him about his travelling all the way from Malayais. Instead she asked to send a demo tape. She then enquired about my personal details and musical background. I told her everything what i know. it was nice meeting them. Hi all, Here are some things i feel special @ the concert: - Many guys and girls from our fan group wearing ARR tshirts attracted the public.. - Nithyasree's Kannodu Kaanbadhellaam.. - A new guitarist STEVE in our Boss's team played the prelude for Girl Friend from Boys.. - ARR's voice in most of the tracks.. - Humma Humma by Shankar Mahadevan, Blaaze and ARR.. - A man from the public was carrying two big photographs (with lamination) of ARR and he was dancing among the crowd.. Our boss noticed this while singing Dil Se Re.. The sad thing is that the security people didnt allow our members to enter the seating area.. It has combo of two beautiful healing raagas Natakurinji and Sahana. and next would be 'Ennuyir Thozhiyae' rendered by Unnimenon Sir and Chinmayi. I like the taans by Chinmayi after the pallavi. Also the starting music has no match till date.
