I guess that is the name of the character, the girl whom the guy sings about in
the movie. I'm guessing this song is between Faizon Love and Kali Hawk. It
would be interesting to see how this song is going to appear on screen. Don't

I am honestly sick and tired for the entire industry drooling over

the achievements India has had in the past. Frankly, I am disgusted

It is disrespectful, inappropriate, and frankly quite insulting to

The first Indian to win a Golden Globe was the Producer/Director Mr.

for the
special Samuel Goldwyn Award in the year 1959. V. Shantaram is one
of the
most highly regarded directors in the history of Indian cinema. He
was not

 of
Indian cinema. Yes, we have made films of that caliber way back in
1959 -
something that Aamir Khan has been trying very hard to achieve.

So please lets stop the nonsense of first Indian to win a Golden

and just appreciate Mr. Rahman for bringing such honor to the film

I'm surprised that you only observed this now.. :)
This is one way used by MDs in songs of the movie to contain a refrain
from another famous song, so that the feeling will be there and also
to popularise the song.

Obviously, ARR's songs don't need that since they are already popular!

[arr] Re: Ghajini Song Analysis

2008-11-20 Thread noorulwahid
Vithur, the theme I was referring to the bit that I heard in the
trailer (probably it's part of the theme).

The other instrumental is one of the semi-pathos(?) number Kaise
Mujhe.

And besides, it would add to the thrill if it releases together with
the movie instead of releasing in the audio CD itself.

And rivjot, I hope you are not referring to me, since I have clearly
stated that this is not a review but only what I can make out of the
samples. Of course, like Jehanzeeb Farooq said, people might even
write detailed reviews based on the 15 sec samples if the audio is
not gonna release soon.

Latoo Main = Rahatulla (from the sample, follows the original's
wave)

Guzzarish = Suttum Vizhi (Comparing picturizations, I think it's
more
  or less, it.)

Behka = Oru Maalai (Me thinks it's this one since Karthik sung the
original and it's well...inclined to be it, 80% sure).

Aye Bachchoo = X Machi no doubt. From the tone of the song
Suzanne's
  vocal patterns, definetly X-Machi's counterpart.

Kaise Mujhe = It's more inclined to a depressing song. Kismat is
popped up from the sample version while the instrumental gives it
a
sad tone. This is likely to be the Bonus song that Murgadoss had
revealed to us in the Behindwoods.com interview. The song likely
takes
place during Aamir's present short-term state, remembering
memories
with Asin prior to her death.

While Guzzarish is neat, I'm not so warmed up to the others after
looping them for over 10 times today. Still, I'll wait for the
audio
release and then conclude my analysis.

I dont think its a letdown, but the numerous repetitions of the
phrase is quite irritating. If not, the lyric would not be thought of
in such a way.

This goes in line with Gomzy's post but this is the past.. just read
on to get a feel of it.

A day in 1993
- Gopal Srinivasan starts a notice board with a welcome message and
Next day - Some passers by spotted it

First notice - Vithur : Mani's combo with ARR rocks! Its different
from the usual Mani films, and mark my word, this composer is set to
shine!

Next day - Overwhelming response in notices, Gopal rents two
additional boards
Notice #352: Some new member - ARR Rules! Vithur rocks!
Notice #353: Vithur: I am very much humbled by the humble comment of
the humled humble (Gomzy, this line of yours is classic!)

Some days later -
Some random member : Where can I get pirated cassettes of A R
Rahman's Roja? And it should have a combination of 1993 hits (if
possible, it should be below Rs 10.)
*** Gopal immediately adds to the group policy that piracy is not
encouraged in the group, and also replies to the member on it***

Months later -
Some new member : Bombay Theme is a direct lift from a French movie
Next hour - A member clarifies that the french movie was the one that
lifted from Bombay.

***Internet develops, mp3 becomes an everyday issue***
Gopal starts the Y! group and after some time
One day
-The same member posts again, this time with a link, and tries to
prove that the Bombay theme was indeed copied, but fails as he gives
a rehash of Beethoven's Fur Elise

One fine day,
New member: When will Padayappa release?
Vithur: It is already released
Gomzy: He meant the movie, vithur :)

[arr] Re: Vairamuthu Neram - July 18, 2008 ( 5 songs of ARR explained )

2008-07-18 Thread noorulwahid
good one vithur

--- In arrahmanfans@yahoogroups.com, Vithur [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:

 In Vairamuthu Neram today,

 *Uppu Kaaruvaadu SONG ( Mudhalvan ) *

At times, a lyricist is compelled to write lyrics to suit the
story, the
time , the song comes in the picture, and his creativity is stalled
to a
certain extent. When I was writing lyrics for Mudhalvan, the scene
was like
, One Day CM wants to ease out, of his official side, meet his
lover in
the village, spend some time with her, and share his love for her.
I started
writing lyrics, and for which Rahman composed a superb melody tune.
Dir
Shankar also liked it, and he called me at 12 AM in the night, and
congratulated me for the same, and told, that I have done an
excellent job,
and the same could also be picturised using all Visual Effects, as
the way
he wanted. The next day morning, the same Shankar called me, and
apologised
with me saying, that he wanted a new set of lyrics, as the tune
itself was
undergoing a change. I was very upset with him, and didnt talk to
anyone for
a day. He called me later, and explained me the situation,

Dir Shankar told me , Sir. Actually, this song comes in a climax
in the
film, when the hero goes to see his heroine in the village, and
this comes
in the fag end of the film. If a melody song, was fitted at that
moment, the
audience would be compelled to leave the film, at that juncture, as
a slow
song, at that juncture would have made them loose the feel of the
speedness
of the movie. So, he wanted a Kutthu song ( A song with fast
beats ) at
that junction, and thus came out, Uppu Karuvaadu Oora vacha
Sooru . After
seeing the film, and the song, I agreed with Shankar and told him,
that his
decision was the right one .

Many a times, The lyricist is compelled to change his skills to
suit the
timing of the song in the movie.

 *Nadhiye Nadhiye song* ( Rhythm)

I was on flight to Singapore, and was supposed to go to Jakartha for
attending a Tamil Awards Function. I received a call, asking for an
urgent
song. They wanted it very urgently, and that the picturisation of
the song
was the next day. On way to Jakartha, from Singapore, I wrote the
lyrics of
  Nadhiye Nadhiye for Rhythm

 *Sahaaana Saral ( SIvaji ) *
 **
Azhage Azhage Nee Aaradi Pani Thuliyaaa , The song is like the
hero
singing this song on the heroine, praising her, to see, if she is 6
ft in
height.. When this song was to be picturised, the sets of the song
was put
up in Hyderabad. The set was made like that of a glass building.
This song
was echoed in the sets. When everyone heard it there, the song was
good, but
it didnt suit well with the set put up there . They wanted a song ,
to suit
the sets. The sets expected a different type of a song. Dir Shankar
came
back to me, and requested me saying that the song was good, but
didnt suit
the set arrangements fixed over there .

I replied to Shankar saying, What is this Shankar ?. Till now, I
was
writing only for Mettu ( the tune of the song ) , and you have made
me write
lyrics for settu ( the Set Arrangements ). If it doesnt suit the
Metttu (
the tune ) , I will change it and give, and if it doesnt suit the
settu (
the sets ) , what am I to do ?. I grumbled, and along with this
grumble,
came out the Sahaana Saraal song .

 *Rasaathi Song ( Thiruda Thiruda ) *

Maniratnam came to me and said that , You have poured out your
feelings to
a greater extent in this song. The expectations are very high now.
This song
has raised the expectations of a big Love Epic ( kaviyam in
tamil ) . But
in the story, I dont have that much to tell. If a film fan who
comes with
high expectations of wishing a big Love Epic, and doesnt see that
much
impact in the film, the film flops, and doesnt become a success.
So, he told
me to write lyrics seeing the story, seeing the actors in the film.
Dont
keep love lyrics which have a deep influence in light subject
stories.. This
was the request made by Maniratnam to me. When Bharathiraaja saw
me , he
jealously asked me, That song should have been written for me.
The song
was expected to raise the film, the song which impacted me, and in
the same
way, impacted the movie in a negative sense.

*Evano Oruvan song ( Initially to be in IRUVAR, but then came out in
 Alaiypayudhey ) *
 **
With the help of Manirathnam, I was called and told, You have
written the
lyrics of the song, Just start and come. I went to Rahman studio,
and to my
surprise found that my song was already composed. A. R. Rahman had
composed
a song out of my writings ( Vairamuthu Kavidaigal ) . Evano Oruvan
Vasikirran, Iruttil irundhu Naan Yaasikiren. I experienced the
bliss of
this song, when I heard it with the tune from Rahman, and the bliss
was more
enjoyable, even when compared to the happiness that I got from
writing it. I
was very very happy. That song was picturised for the film

[arr] A R Rahman in Yuvan's release?

2008-07-10 Thread noorulwahid
The yet to be released 'Saroja' movie's audio launch is touted to
feature both A R Rahman and Yuvan Shankar Raja on stage, 14th July, as
reported by Indiaglitz.

Is this true?

[arr] Unreleased Sivaji Song

2008-07-03 Thread noorulwahid
My song didn't suit the set
3 Jul 2008
from remo's blog www.r-e-m-o.rocks.it

Vairamuthu said in a function here recently, that he had made a
beautiful song in place of the now Sahana, it had entirely different
and beautiful lyrics.. I remember it had something to do with
gloryfying black colour very beautifully.

All was ok and the song was recorded.

Then Shankar called me, and said, Er.. the song's nice, good song.
But it doesn't suit the.. set.

Vairamuthu: Mettukkaaha thaan ennala paatezhutha mudiyum. Settukaaga
ellam eppadiya ezhuthurathu
(means, I can write only for the tune, how am I to write for the
sets?)

Then the audience burst into laughter.

I believe this is the extra song that was supposed to release in the
BGM CD.

===
Now, Vijay or Gopal, please update on the status of the CD. Will it
ever release?

They are also devotional songs (not sure about all of the songs

Rahman To Take Rs 10 Cr For Robot
When it comes to big banner films, one can only talk of top notch
music and
talking about top notch music one can only think of the one and
only musical
genius A R Rahman who has created a revolution in the film
industry with his
unique tunes and scoring great hits with his music. But then
quality comes
with a price and if you want to afford Rahman then you really
need to have a
  fat purse.

It is known news that Rahman has been roped in to compose the
tunes for the
ambitious venture of Shankar 'Robot' which stars superstar
Rajinikanth and
Aishwarya Rai in the lead. Reports say that Rahman is said to
have charged a
whopping Ten Crores for churning out the tunes for this project.

Given the nature of Shankar and the magnanimity of the movie, it
looks like
every penny is worth spending on Rahman and the musical maestro
has already
got on to the job of composing and creation which means that his
mammoth
remuneration has been accepted. It now remains to be seen how far
will
Rahman justify his fee for this heavy duty film.

[arr] Gautham's ARR's (exact) words

2008-06-13 Thread noorulwahid
I know that everyone of us know of ARR's humble words but this time
it comes straight from an interview rather than a cinema website, so
I take it to be more accurate..

Here it goes..

Speaking of Rahman, there's been a lot of talk about the switch from
your regular, Harris Jayaraj.

It's not a switch, because I am doing a film with Harris in December,
which stars Ajit (for Sivaji productions). We work really well
together. I think we're the only team that works really well
together, because I know how he works with the other guys, and I know
how I work with him. But I always wanted to work with Rahman, right
from the word go, right from when Minnale happened – and Harris knows
that. Yes, he said, People will think we have a problem. Why do you
want to do this now? But I told him I need to do this because… You
can always do a film with Surya but you still want to work with Kamal
Hassan. It's like that. When I pitched it to Rahman, the first thing
he asked was, You have a great record with Harris. They'll think
I've done something to that. I don't want to get into the bad books
of people. Are you sure it's okay? Secondly, he said, There's bound
to be tremendous expectation. We need to live up to that. Do you
think we will do that? I told him. Come on, let's not worry about
all that. What the film demands, we'll do. He's pretty cool – very
humble, very nice. I think we share a great rapport.

[arr] Re: What's the best encoding to listen to a rahman audio cd on portable?

2008-05-31 Thread noorulwahid
I repect ur advice but I'm more towards the audiophile type and found
that when Rahman's music was ripped lower than 320kbps, especially at
a low 128kbps, the quality was lacking.

For casual listeners, it wouldn't mean much a difference and may even
find it an amazing quality, for the difference is very little.
However, I feel that I need to listen to his music in the best
affordable quality, so I opt to rip only ARR's music and a few

Superstar Rajinikanth saw two things when he watched the trailer
of the
  animated movie 'Sultan The Warrior'.

For the first time he saw himself in a movie in which he did not
act but
still was able to enjoy Sultan as he is called in the film.

He also saw the talent and potential of his own blood in its full
 glory and
splendor revealing in front of his eyes.

The actor after watching the trailer was moved and appreciated
his
 daughter
Soundarya who is the creative force and director behind the
first of its
kind animation project in India where a film star is being
featured in a
full length animated movie as an 3D animated character.

Ocher movies, Soundarya Rajinikanth's company is
producing 'Sultan The
  Warrior'.

*As usual in Rajinikanth movies, S.P.Balasubramanium has given
the
 voice for
the intro song in this film composed by the music wizard
A.R.Rahman.*

*Three other songs composed by A.R.R. also add elegance to the
film
 which
has the duration of one hour and fifty minutes.*

For Thotta Dharani, the acclaimed Art director, the experience in
 working in
this movie turned out to be entirely different as he did not
have to
 work
with physical resources which are used to construct a set but
just
 had to
come out with designs which got the material and texture in the
 hands of 3D
animation artists working under his guidance.

This attempt is sure to find followers once it gets released and
 Kollywood
can be proud that the idea of 'Sultan The Warrior' was conceived
and the
effort to make it true was dared in Chennai.

Even if the film shows a Rajinikanth made up by animators, the
 opening and
the hype to this movie is going to be the same as like any other
 film of the
  superstar.

That also is an honour that is meant exclusively for Rajini.

  Who can argue on that?

Well, ATM song is also nice since it has a similar style and lyrics.
Both are excellent intro songs, but Ah Aah really wasted on SJS.

Anyway, you can read the news on Jaggubhai on

The scoop is that JB is revived and Sarath is playing the hero. Music

Rahman did excellent music and scores for the movie but since the movie

Now, Vidyasagar has given average scores for the movie but it will be
made a hit by the folks.

Re: [arr] Kuruvi Theme copied from ATM BGM

The one i'm referring to is the one where the Bad Vijay is first

The same style of Come on come on was used, in same tune, in the

The original did have good and effective BGMs and songs
And this leaves Rahman with an even more challenging job since he is

Try not to compare, since Bollywood is another league and its
mainstream movies are much more different from Tamil movies. Though
the same story is being remade, some changes might have been done
here and there. We, as fans of ARR, let us just wait and enjoy the

[arr] DTS 5.1 or Dolby?

2008-02-05 Thread noorulwahid
As we know, both of the above are excellent sound profiles.
But is there a standard difference between the two?

I tend to have a feeling that since DTS was produced later, it might be
superior to Dolby. I may be wrong.

I noted that Sivaji DVD will be releasing in both formats (DTS Dolby)

Can snyone explain if which is better than the other

The quality is simply amazing, (pls note that im talking about quality
and not about the music itself, which is sure also mindblowing) much
better than his previous albums, for which we were complaining abt the
quality

You all have supported me well for my remix videos.

ANNIYAN - All of us were sad to know that ARR wasnt the composer for
the mega movie Anniyan. Now, no worries. I have virtually tried to

This is only the cover of Kelly's previous album - which does not
consist of the song Shakalaka Baby.

However, I did check out the cover of her latest CD which has the
song. Credits are usually not made on the exterior covers but in the

Yes, we've sought permission, I don't want to be sued Catchy
  track in
Kelly Poon's new album based on hit Indian composer's tune

By Avis WongOctober 03, 2007

IT'S a catchy song that looks set to rule the airwaves. But
Kelly
Poon's new track, Shakalaka Baby, from her latest album seems
mired
  in
   controversy.

Kelly says that by adapting the original Shakalaka Baby, into
  Chinese,
it would make more people appreciative of the song. Picture:
  JONATHAN
CHOO For one, some have questioned the song's copyright and
whether
Kelly's label, Ursa Major, has the rights to use the song.

A reader, Noorul Wahid, wrote to The New Paper: 'Kelly Poon
has
  simply
reused the tune without actually seeking permission from the
  copyright
   holders or the composer.'

Likewise, a Netizen who wanted to be known as
TruthandReconciliat
  ion
also said in an online forum that he 'would like to see the
original
composer's name to be credited for it'.

The song was originally composed by Indian film composer AR
  Rahman in
1999 for the Tamil film, Mudhalvan.

In 2002, he improvised the track for British musical theatre
  composer
Andrew Lloyd Webber's production, Bombay Dreams.

Shakalaka Baby has been reworked into Mandarin by famous
Taiwanese
   composer-producer Yao Chien.

In an interview with The New Paper yesterday, Kelly explained
  that if
her label had not sought permission or cleared the copyright
  issues, she
wouldn't have been able to release the album.

'It wouldn't also be used as the main track and I may even be
  sued,'
said the 24-year-old singer with a laugh.

Yao Chien also gave his assurance that his company Ursa
Major,
  which
signed the 2005 Project Superstar female champion last year,
has
  sought
   permission to use the song.

'Songwriters usually have agents to help them take care of
the
  rights
to their work. So we liaised with Universal Music which takes
care
  of AR
Rahman's works,' he claimed during a phone interview yesterday.

Copyright issue aside, Kelly admitted that she has read some
  reports
from India saying Indians there preferred the original version.

She added: 'But I think it's good to adapt the song anyway
because
then Chinese people will get to know this Indian song.

'Music has no barriers and it can be shared with people of
  different
   races.'

Kelly's second album, In The Center Of The World, was
released
  during
a regional press conference here last Saturday.

It is aimed at launching her singing career beyond local
shores to
China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Malaysia.

To do that, Kelly has spent the past six months living in
Taipei
  on
   her own.

And solitude is what the Kuala Lumpur-born singer has been
facing

I am glad that they have published this news and have credited me.
Am even happier that the people now know of the original composer,

composer's tune

   By Avis WongOctober 03, 2007

IT'S a catchy song that looks set to rule the airwaves. But Kelly
Poon's new track, Shakalaka Baby, from her latest album seems mired
in controversy.

Kelly says that by adapting the original Shakalaka
Baby, into Chinese, it would make more people appreciative of the
song. Picture: JONATHAN CHOO For one, some have questioned the
song's copyright and whether Kelly's label, Ursa Major, has the
rights to use the song.

A reader, Noorul Wahid, wrote to The New Paper: 'Kelly Poon has
simply reused the tune without actually seeking permission from the
copyright holders or the composer.'

Likewise, a Netizen who wanted to be known as TruthandReconciliat
ion also said in an online forum that he 'would like to see the
original composer's name to be credited for it'.

The song was originally composed by Indian film composer AR
Rahman in 1999 for the Tamil film, Mudhalvan.

In 2002, he improvised the track for British musical theatre
composer Andrew Lloyd Webber's production, Bombay Dreams.

Shakalaka Baby has been reworked into Mandarin by famous
Taiwanese composer-producer Yao Chien.

In an interview with The New Paper yesterday, Kelly explained
that if her label had not sought permission or cleared the copyright
issues, she wouldn't have been able to release the album.

'It wouldn't also be used as the main track and I may even be
sued,' said the 24-year-old singer with a laugh.

Yao Chien also gave his assurance that his company Ursa Major,
which signed the 2005 Project Superstar female champion last year,
has sought permission to use the song.

'Songwriters usually have agents to help them take care of the
rights to their work. So we liaised with Universal Music which takes
care of AR Rahman's works,' he claimed during a phone interview
yesterday.

Copyright issue aside, Kelly admitted that she has read some
reports from India saying Indians there preferred the original
version.

She added: 'But I think it's good to adapt the song anyway
because then Chinese people will get to know this Indian song.

'Music has no barriers and it can be shared with people of
different races.'

Kelly's second album, In The Center Of The World, was released
during a regional press conference here last Saturday.

It is aimed at launching her singing career beyond local shores
to China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Malaysia.

To do that, Kelly has spent the past six months living in Taipei
on her own.

And solitude is what the Kuala Lumpur-born singer has been facing
there.

'Frankly, it does get lonely. My hand phone is switched on

24 hours a day and it's fantastic when I have people to chat with
via SMS,' she said.

So she was especially happy when blind singer Kelvin Tan was in
Taiwan recently to promote his album.

'He messaged me that he was in Taiwan and we met up for dinner.
But I haven't kept in touch with Hong Junyang or Sing Chew,' she
said of her fellow Project Superstar alumnus.

 INTENSIVE TRAINING

Kelly was in the Mandopop capital for intensive training in
singing, dancing and media management.

'Besides going to the office and attending classes, I would head
home and watch TV.

'Even that is part of homework too as I'm watching variety
programmes so as to prep myself on what to expect,' she added.

Indeed, she is already putting what she has learned to use.

A local Chinese newspaper had speculated that a guy spotted at
her press conference on Saturday was her boyfriend.

She has previously admitted to having had three relationships.

But Kelly remained blase when asked about the guy and suggested
we talk about her album instead.

She says she would draw the line at what to reveal to the media.

'It's okay to admit to having a boyfriend, but I don't think
there's a need to tell the world about my private matters.

'Besides myself, I have to consider my family members' feelings.
They will be concerned and upset over reports (over my private
affairs).'

[arr] A R Rahman credited for Shakalaka Baby - Chinese

2007-09-26 Thread noorulwahid
The artist has credited A R Rahman by means of a small wording at the
bottom of her MTV Asia music video (you can follow to a link from this
page www.davimcicode.blogspot.com this is a Singapore Tamil Radio DJ's
blog)

But not sure whether she has bought the rights or sought permission
from the copyright holders. If not, she is in trouble.
Because BOMBAY DREAMS cd itself clearly credits the copyright holders
of the audio of NAYAK for reusing their tune. Kelly Poon oughts to do
so.

Please bring this matter to ARR as people should not make quick bucks
from using ARR music without doing the necessary,
for now we can be proud that our Rahman's music is reaching newer
hights.

[arr] Listen - By A R Rahman

2007-08-14 Thread noorulwahid
arr4music website reports that a project by a r r called listen was
announced but status of the project is unconfirmed.

I would like to recall that an album by Mohd Rafi (one of A R R's
programmers, has done additional programming in Maramkothiye in the
film Ah Aah starring SJ Surya, also a Singapore local singer who is
currently not in the limelight. Has also sang the song Jumbalakka in
ARR's En Swasa Katre movie and for Harris Jayaraj in Pachaikili
Muthucharam - Un siripil)

The posters of the CD called Listen by Mohd Rafi state that the
project (was/to be) launched by A R Rahman in very bold letters.
I got to chance upon the content of the CD and I found that nothing of
the sort of Beethoven music was present. Instead, there were some
original tracks by Mohd Rafi and remixes of yesteryear popular folk
songs.

Can anyone shed light on the Listen project?

[arr] Re: Munbe Munbe Vaa is a complete lift of a sample!

2007-07-31 Thread noorulwahid
The loop used in Munbe Vaa is much different from the one you have
posted. What I think he is referring to is the hip-hop like, clap-
like beat that is repeated throughout the song. This one sounds
similar but the one A R R has used is similar.

It ain't an offence to use a loop beat as the base of the song.

Even Harris Jayaraj is guilty of it
-Mazhai Mazhai from Ullam Ketkumae
When I say this, you would instantly remember that he had copied
Muthu BGM for the starting, but I am referring to the repetitive
beat at the back throuhgout the song, also found in another song by
another MD

-Kadhal Yaanai from Anniyan, Kannum Kannum Nokia from Anniyan
This is the worst case of loop usage. The whole song (almost) is
made out of club loops and techno loops which I found easily in
other songs from other movies and even in ads.
Even A R Rahman himself has used a small portion of the loop found
in Remo song, in Mayilirage if you listen carefully.

So guys, loops are made to add spice to their songs by MD and you
see that Munbe Vaa, only the beats are formed by loops.
The beautiful Rango Rangoli show's ARR is a gem

Jodi's songs were used (or is it reverse?) in
a HINDI remake of the movie Kadhalukku Mariyadhai. The Tamil
version had music by Ilayaraja, starring Vijay Shalini.Whereas the
movie Jodi starred Prasanth Simran.

Does anyone know the name of the movie?

And luckily ARR did not work on Thullal, considering the star cast
(weak), story(negative) and commercial success potential(???)

Remember how Star bombed at Box office though songs were super hit?
Same goes to Ratchagan. Not sure abt Jodi though

[arr] Nephew inspired by ARR

Kreedam, a song in GV Prakash (ARR's nephew) has a song Kanner Thuli.
Has anyone noticed that the song is very similar to Poongatrile from

Another song Vizhiyil Unthan Vizhiyil is very good and ARR influence
interludes has made the song enjoyable.

But the album does lack a catchiness found in Rahman's albums.

[arr] It is George Peters for Sunlight song

2007-03-29 Thread noorulwahid
SIVAJI

1. Oru Koodai Sunlight -

It is definitely George Peters, Guys do u remeber when Kama Kama song
was released (Enakku 20 unakku 18), evry1 was talking abt the shaggy -
like voice which was done by G peters. There was even a topic started
with something like ARR's obsession of Shaggy voice or somethin
similar, when ARR continued to use g peters in a hindi movie for the
similar shaggy effect.

But if what i am thinking is correct, i wonder how true the report
that claims to be from Media Studio, (saying that Shaggy, Blaaze
Tanvi sang sunlight). I believe it was just made up/

So. I think the Singers are

-George Peters, Blaaze Tanvi

2. Sahaana Saaral

- Udit's voice is definitely a surprise to any1 listening for the
first time. Remember, in an online chat long ago, Rahman said I have
stopped using Udit in response to someone's query on why he used him
when his pronounciation was so bad. Rahman has also said he was
forced to forego his policy (i dont mean insurance ones of course ;))
to suit Shankar's determination to make his movie a super hit.(in a
different interview on Sun TV last year)

So you can make out how Udit came into this song

BTW Udit goes along so beautifully in this song..creating a wonderful
ambience.. Just listen to the En vinveLi thalaikku mel ... Vennila
veetukkuL nuzhainthadho.. only udit can do it..

even his pronounciation is taken care of. im sure he must have gone
thru a thousands of takes b4 he got it right.

so i dont think this singer will be replaced after all the effort

this also raises doubt on the report saying ARR chinmayi sing in
the original version

I am still unsure of the Female singer.

3. Vaaji Vaaji _ Hariharan Madhushri (and not SadhanA)

This is a catchy track definitely belonging to the album. But the
interludes def need improvement. They end so abruptly (Esp the 2nd
one, when the interludes chorus get so mindblowing but cut abruptly
by Hariharan's voice)

4. Others

Expectations grow on the other songs of the movie. After so much
doubt on the report, I begin to wonder whether DayLight Dude
exists. I think they (media) just heard the sunlight and came up with
a similar title.

Other surely existing songs are the folk (karagaattam) song - the
still was out with Rajini posing like a karagattakkaran.

The only way to find out the truth is to wait until 2nd or 4th April.

BTW did the Telugu sivaji audio release? I bet not. since the cat wud
have been outta the bag...

Best Regards
Wahid

[arr] Requst Vote for Innisai (godfather)

2006-03-31 Thread noorulwahid
www.oli.sg/
OLI 96.8 FM

Request your song in accordance to the DJ at the time.

The top 10 in Singapore does not rely just on the online poll.
Godfather has only 1 song (Katril) at 5th position.

Pls request for Innisai. Katril is a song which immediately gets u
humming, but Innisai is a song that grows on u, typical of ARR.
Request for it a few days and the others may just begin to like it.
Some might not even know there are nice songs other than Kaatril...

I believe the song and Movie would become a great hit when it releases.
With songs like Vaazha Meenu aasai dosai dailamo at 1st
position, one should really wonder where tamil music is heading.

... Waiting for JOK ...

Subject: [arr] Godfather Audio CD (International Edition) - Kudos!

Just wanted to say a HUGE THANKS to the team behind the
international
edition of the Godfather CD. God knows how long we've been waiting
for
something like this - that one of our group members (Vijay Iyer,
MASSIVE THANKS!) was involved is extremely heartening. I couldn't
wait
to listen to the songs so I went ahead and bought the Indian
edition
first, which in its own weird way was attractive (appealing to the
target audience in TN I am sure, though the '8th Wonder of the
World'
tag was patently unnecessary - gosh the extent ppl will go to sell
 their stuff).

But the International version - God almighty! - I couldnt recognize
it
at first on the shelf at Oli's M3 in Singapore, 'cos I was looking
for
the usual garish cover; but then, there it was, extreme right of
the
first row - stunningly elegant, and oh-so-totally-cool! For the
first
time in a long time, I felt good about buying a Tamil audio CD in
Singapore (which usually gets the horribly designed cover versions
from Malaysia). As if the picture of ARR in a trance-like smile on
the
back cover was not stunning enough, the superb poster of Rahman
behind
the lyric sheet is an invaluable bonus. But let's not forget the
immaculately designed package as a whole - well-chosen fonts,
clear,
crisp printing, eye-pleasing colours, cool montages of Ajit, and
the
elegant CD label artwork - the whole package looks and feels like a
production from an international record label like Sony-BMG or
Warner
Records. A lot of thought has gone into its design, and it shows!
So
here's a huge, huge, kudos to those behind it (Sumeru Design house
must be a major fan of ARR to have poured so much love into this
package). I only wish I had a scanner so that everyone can see this
beauty. The manufacturing quality is top-notch (thanks to Agi Music
who seem to be leagues ahead from other Malaysian music labels like
 Alai Osai, Five-Star, etc).

At S$12.50, it's considerably underpriced compared to international
CDs which are normally not less than S$18. But I guess the price
will
be of some concern to the non-discerning buyer (used to the S$10 or
less Malaysian versions) who may not see much value in the package.
It's a risk, but a justified one. I only hope Agi and KM Musiq make
a
tidy profit so that they can keep up the great work. Here's to more
 such!

PS. I would hesitate to add this, but I think the 'appeal to
respect
copyright' message could be avoided in future productions - it's
the
only 'unprofessional' aspect of the CD - but perhaps an
understandable
one considering it's the first such production. It takes nothing
away
from the wonderful feeling of owning the CD though!

[arr] LOTR musical - CD?

2006-02-22 Thread noorulwahid
Hey guys one thing struck me few days ago
Will there be an audio CD for LOTR Musical that's happenin in Toronto?
I have the doubt becos BombayDreams was filled with lots of songs, so
it had a CD. But LOTR? It is mostly Background Score,,

I went to a Music Shop and asked for a LOTR audio cd, he was ready to
search his database asking me Soundtrack? I stressed on the word
Musical and he said no.

So any info pls? Will there be a CD or is it limited to the viewers of
the musical to enjoy the music?

Thanks
Wahid

[arr] Kamma kama...

2006-02-22 Thread noorulwahid
I cant help hearing
-Innisai (all 3 of them!)
- kamma karaiile
-Ilamai
-Katril
in my mind...
Why I like Kamma is the unusual kuthu song it is. Where else can u
hear a kuthu song so melodious fast music in the background.

Guys im referring to the music that is very soft that plays softly and
redefining kuthu music (from the part when kamma karaiyile..
starts ..until the end of the song ooh ahh) unlike the ones we hear
now. That really reflects ARR Style
Please tell me if u can understand wat im talkin bout.

And one more

Hi tech 2006 music in Innisai Chorus (towards the end)
Tremolo effect in A kuthu song (kamma)

Re:[arr]mp3

2006-02-07 Thread noorulwahid

hi u have put ur point through brave enough :) i believe the point
where u compare downloading mp3 with hotels might cause a roar with
those who [believe strictly that ONLY original should be purchased
and if u can't u rather not listen to it.](this is NOT my view)

take me for example.. I am a student and I dont have big allowances...
I wud have to fork out from the money for food If i were to purchase
an original cd.. Even though, I still have bought a number of CDs,
and most are by A.r.r. Namely BOYS -this is a must to get original,
BOYS DTS 5.1 (this costs exactly the same as the normal one), BABA,
ENAKKU 20 unakku 18, and AH AAH.

I appreciate good music but I can now only afford the basic daily
essentials.

So this should be left personal. But it is not appropriate to ask for
mp3 in a fangroup publicly. So, bro, if u want ask personally or
search as you wish and this would not cause unpleasant views by
fellow fans..

That's my opinion..
U r welcome to agree/disagree

[EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:

 hi all
i have a feeling for some guys who are after these mp3s short
cuts. i m not for criticising them. One should also realize that most
could afford to buy original cds for whatever the cost but there's
also a fact as some cannot afford and still they are interested to
listen to songs. So we donno whose position (financially) is how in
this regard and cannot force them. Our refusal to help them is equal
to saying If u cannot afford to check in a big hotel then don't eat
at all but there are many small good hotels too who serve the same
quality dishes equivalent to big hotels for such people. So these
fans request of mp3s etc. is amounting to look for small good hotels.
So nothing we lose if we help them and we need not bother about sales
as it belongs to market strategy and so the producers and music
distributors know well what has to be done for this is all my humble
opinion. Thanks Pankaj :-)

[arr] Do you Know? - Lots of facts... about a r r

2005-12-18 Thread noorulwahid
hey..

A.R.R had said earlier in a radio interview (singapore) when he came
to laucnh a shop here.. (before baba released, bombay dreams)
That he likes the compeition posed by Yuvan (thats how he said),
Vidyasagar and a few others but not Harris- perhaps he had not made
his mark yet by then.(still one of the newcomers)

He agreed that BOYS had 16 tracks and each would be different.
Now we know its been changed to 7 tracks. But thanks to being in this
group, I found that Anarkali - KKS was actually a song composed for
boys and a few other tracks were made too - but Shankar wanted just 7.

(the below are from sun tv interview with pa.vijay)
and about the song Ale Ale egiri kuthithen... is only 1 line of the
60 the lyricist wrote. A r r had to carefully choose 2 lines out of
the 60 and use for the song

I would like to start something different from the RDB posts, how
about Theenana Munana from Desam(swades) for Rajini? The voice, the
starting, the lyrics all suit Rajini and his image. (I always feel
this when I listen to this song - from the time Desam audio release)

Would like some comments

[arr] MTV Asia talks about ARR (Aug 05)

2005-12-18 Thread noorulwahid
A.R. Rahman's World Tour Comes To Singapore

August 18, 2005

Singapore - September 24 looks set to be a wondrous night of
Bollywood glamour and Broadway glitz right here in Singapore.

A.R. Rahman, the musical genius behind Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber's
Broadway musical Bombay Dreams, is bringing his eagerly awaited world
tour to Singapore, his only Asian stop.

Hailed as the man who revolutionized the Indian music industry, A.R.
Rahman has sold more records than any other artist in history, and
has written scores for more than 50 movies, including the stage
musical adaptation of the Lord Of The Rings.

Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber has nothing but words of praise for the
musical wonder: This man is a fabulous, brilliant composer, one of
the most exciting today.

Having made its way to London and Sydney, The Third Dimension World
Tour, described as astonishing, is a musical extravaganza of more
than three hours featuring classics from blockbuster movies and
soulful ballads performed by some of the most well-known Indian
singers of our time.

The concert will be held at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on September
24 at 8pm. Concert tickets from $50 are on sale at all Sistic
outlets.

[arr] Re: Player settings for each song

2005-12-14 Thread noorulwahid
Hi, DTS 5.1 is a way that allows songs to be heard the same way it
was meant to be. But now, I think only BOYS is in that format.
ARR himself said about 70% is lost when making a conventional CD.
And in the CD inlay, it is stated that it will sound exactly the same
as in the recording studio.. Amazing isn't it?

And about the preset, I don't think 1 preset would suit all of ARR's
songs for eg. You use a certain preset for secret of success from
boys. May be that preset would help bring out the electric guitar
strongly,, but u cant use it for ale ale from the same movie, which
is a melody..

[arr] Re: Rang De Basanti - A Lowlight

2005-12-14 Thread noorulwahid

Do you guys remember Ah Aah CD, (tamil) with 6 wondeful mindblowing
tracks, but too much of bass in the programming of the CD quite spoilt
it (you won't be able to feel it unless you listen to it on headphones)
It had such nice songs and I wished the bass was lower. It never
happened before in an ARR film.
Anyone knows why it was that way. The CD credits both Shafee 5 and
PAncahatan records inn. Perhaps it is due to the process in mixing both
equally

[arr] BOYS 5.1 - Done!!

2005-11-28 Thread noorulwahid
Hey, remember I was talking abt 5.1? And asking for some help?
Now I'm done, thanks to Vishwesh anyway, though your tips (excellent
if i had a DVD drive) didn't help..

I have used the latest Power DVD 6.0 to play my DTS 5.1 Cd and used
Audacity to record it directly from the Stereo Mixer.

When I tried STEREO in the Player, it felt bland. But I used Dolby
Vitual Speaker and it was superb. You would be able to hear all the
minute details which are lost during making a conventional CD.

I have made 5 song samples (abt 2-3 mins. each)

They are in MP3 format... so u can listen to it anywhere!

For those who wanna get the full experience, please get yourself this
5.1 CD it is on sale for Rs125 and $8.90 in Singapore,

Email me if u want to buy this CD and u cant get it
This only plays on DVD player with DTS or the latest power dvd 6 on
your pc.
