everybody is recommended by someone in this world. ARR cannot know everyone and
call everyone to sing. Even Blaaze was recommended by Shivamani. For the
Semmozi

people in tamilnadu were unhappy with his style of singing in that tamil song.
even ARR's pronounciation was questioned.

Yep. Thats right Vithur ji. Even when we started celebrating 2008 ARR's

It would be an orphanage Visit, a full fledged one, wherein we go, spend time,
sponsor food, have a music session, give gifts, cut a cak for Boss..

The Details of the Orphanage etc would be discussed soon..

  Hi all,

In today's Dinakaran Chennai Supplement, there's a news item about ARR's Oct-11
Chennai concert where it is mentioned that songs of many composers including
Illayaraja will be performed in the concert!

Screenshot of the article from Dinakaran Epaper - http://tinypic.
com/r/2j2u890/ 4

No offence to IR, but I'm hoping this news is false and hoping this is a
goof-up by Dinakaran. I would rather attend any other concert if i want to
listen to other composer's songs... For me, an AR concert is something SPECIAL,
some thing RARE and something TO BE TREASURED, and it should feature ONLY songs
of our Boss... Those 3 hours are always MAGICAL, and each minute is PRECIOUS
for me. I would want it to be filled only with ARR and only ARR!

Gops/Vijay can you please confirm this is false news!
 ;)

Translation:
It was a fine Sunday morning, when I got a call from my friend, cinematographer
Rajeev Menon, asking if we can meet!

The meeting happened at 5 pm that day. I was then the sub editor of India
Today, and was handling movies section too. Those days, Rajeev was working
more  on Ad films, than for movies. He told me about a youngster who was
composing for his ad films - His name is Dileep. He has tremendous music
sense. He's extremely talented in playing and handling all modern instruments.
Moreover, Mani sir has signed him on for his next movie, after listening to
some of his jingles.

Wow.. thats something new, I thought, and collected a pic of Dileep shot by
Rajeev and his phone number from Rajeev. Next day, I called up Dileep and he
answered. I introduced myself and asked for a meeting with him. He immediately
refused saying No sir... No Interviews now! Mani sir has asked me not to speak
anything about the project!

I retorted - You dont have to speak about the movie; speak about you! I would
be pleased if India Today publishes details about the new music director who is
Mani Ratnam's new find.
I also told him that I'd already collected his photo from Rajeev Menon.
Finally, later acceded to my request!

The meeting happened at 4 pm. He was not a school kid. He was not yet a college
student. He seemed to be just in that transition phase, with a shy smile on his
face! His mom and sister were with him. His mom offered me cake and savouries
they had purchased from the neighbourhood bakery, for me. Coffee followed.

Then, we started talking. He told me a lot - about his father RK Shekar, about
how music became his full-time job after his father's death, about the family
background, about the conversion to islam, about his name change! He mentioned
that the Mani film was a God-given gift for him. He conversed with him as
though we're very close friends for a long time! He took me to his studio and
played 2 songs from his new film.

One of those songs was Chinna Chinna Aasai. After listening to it, I requested
Rahman to play it once more. He was overjoyed and played it again. Just this
one song is enough to take you to heights of fame, I told him and wished him
all luck. Other their Mani sir, others connected with the film hadn't listened
to the songs. I played it just for you. Your words are very encouraging, he
said and thanked me. When I was leaving, he came out till his front gate and
bid farewell to me.

One week later, Rahman's mom called me - When can we see my son's photo in the
magazine, dear brother? I could sense the eagerness and excitement in her
voice.
It will hit the stands in 2 days, mother. I'll come and give a few copies to
you, even before that, I told her.

En-route to my house from office, I visited Rahman's house with 5 copies of
India Today, and gave it to them. The images of the proud mother and sister,
smiling and sharing their happiness on seeing Rahman's photo in the magazine,
still remains fresh in my memories. But, Rahman took this big news in a calm
and composed manner. With a smile, he thanked me. His humbleness was there with
him right from that time.

After the release of Roja, there was no magazine which didnt feature Rahman's
photo. After that, I met him a few more times as a reporter. Much to the envy
of other reporters, he would approach me personally and talk to me like a
friend. Once, in a press meet, he openly said He's the first person to
interview me How can I not be close to him?. He hasn't yet lost that
closeness to me.

8 years later, I'd moved from the press and started working for TV and movies.

As of me, rahman is the only person in bollywood who really gives the regional
touch in all his film. mostly all music directors would give their special
attention, if the film belongs to their own state...

but a.r.rahman gives all kind of music according to the requriement of film...
be it

gujathi - dhandia music in dil he dil mein

bengali - durga pooja festival music in Nethaji -the forgotton hero

kashmiri - BGM of roja

rajasthani - songs in Meenakshi as well as Mangal pandey

Hydarabadi - songs in meenakshi

punjabi - songs in Legend of Bhagat singh

Rural Kutch - songs in Lagaan

Ultra modern kolkata - Fanaa in Yuva

malayali - Jiya jale in Dilse

pure classical - songs in Kandukondein, Indra

rural Folk tamil - songs and BGM of Sangamam, Kizhaku Cheemaiyele

1940s filmi style - Songs of Zubeidaa, Iruver

For english people but of bollywood style - Bombay Dreams

Pure English style - Lord of the Rings Elizabeth

and los and lot.

I think nobody in india had given these much different styles.
and also people who belongs to that regions would feel really about their
nativity while hearing the songs..
we can discuss detailly about each style in many weeks.

Hello all,

Can anybody throw some light into AAR's music that had flavours from different
regions of india? For example, any song that had marathi flavour, gujarathi,
rajasthani etc.

Thanks!

There are many brilliant artists in this world who achieve great, long lasting
success. But, there are very few who are able to control their success and
instead, their success controls them. ARR is someone who always stays in
control. How?

When someone achieves great heights, great fame, fortune, recognition, etc.,
it's extremely easy for the human mind and spirit to get caught up in the
frenzy and taking that success too seriously, ultimately, succumbing to that
success and surrendering to the ego. Take a look at Himesh Reshamiya as an
example. I don't listen to his music, but I have to admit, he had the guts, the
energy, the vision to carve out a nice niche for himself and he has achieved
great success, built up a huge fan base, etc. etc. An ordinary artist cannot do
what he did. Unfortunately for him, he took his success and himself way too
seriously and is now in my eyes a victim of his own arrogance and narcissism.
Sure, he still has his fans and he may continue to belt out commercial hits,
but let's face it, the party's over for him.

Look at it this way: When you climb up against gravity, the more weight you
carry, the harder the climb becomes and ultimately, you stop climbing and if
the weight you build up becomes too great to handle, you could fall, and fall
hard. If you climb without a lot of weight and don't accumulate weight on the
way, you will keep going, God willing.

Now, look at our man, ARR. Despite being in the industry for years and years,
he has always maintained a dominant and successful position in his career. Yes,
he has had peaks and valleys in terms of commercial success along the way, but
his general status, the respect he's given and earned, the goodness that people
associate with him remains the same. ARR has done what not many artists are
able to do, and that is to create some space between himself and his success
and to not let his ego become too heavy. It's his strong family values,
incredible faith and spirituality that allows this type of detachment. He never
lets his success control him. He is always wary of overexposure and takes
nothing for granted. He has the ability to generate a healthy, broad
perspective on his career, his life, his relationship with the ultimate divine
that he does not allow himself to surrender to his own worldly success. It
takes a very unique combination of personal
elements and life experiences to maintain this attitude and strength of mind.
But, his is an example that we can all learn to apply to our own lives.

If ARR has taught me one thing about life, it is the value of detachment and
not taking too seriously those things that are worldly and temporary. ARR has
reinforced to me the value of creating space between ourselves and our actions
and consequences, thereby helping to create a strong anchor against the winds
and storms of life. ARR is surely enjoying the ride that is his life, but he
remains in the driver's seat of his own success, while ironically, surrendering
to the almighty. He maintains control of his success despite surrendering
himself to permanence and because of that surrender at the same time, helping
to create that healthy detachment.

Thanks to a good friend with whom I had a discussion about this with last
night, helping to stimulate these thoughts within me and posting them here.

All western vocal students did a very fantastic live drama with live Piano and
Cello playback. It was such a beautiful occasion that K.M Conservatory will

He gave brief introduction about himself. He said two mantras for the music

+ You should think out of the genre (means that you shouldn't bound yourself to

He explained musical stuff extraordinarly. He went to core physics to explain

He played a piece which contains more than 10 genres I guess (might be lot

Hi All Rahmaniacs,

I read this mail saying - The security gaurd saw A R Rahman's photo in the
car, and he told your car doesn't needs to under go security check as you are
Rahman's fan

Don't you guys think this is too much.. Its good to be ARR's fan, but keep it
at that level. Being a Rahman fan doesn't fill our belly!!

Music is for us to have a good time at our leisure, so keep it at that level.

I accept that A R Rahman is a genius when it comes to music and ask him, he
would definitely attribute that to his hardwork, intelligently making moves,
applying to right academies to appreciate his music - like Academy Awards, and
associating with best in the industry so that all of them benifit by that.

So, all that is his strategy, which we too should learn and apply in our
respective fields.

There is no reason for us to go on mentioning in every mail that I am a Die
hard Rahmaniac. Just say I like his music.

Instead of saying You know what? Today I was very lucky, I saw HIM at the
airport
You know, the security guard said you are Rahman fan so you can go without
security check
kind of things are very stupid.

I am sure that even A R Rahman would not expect these things from us fans.

If you ask him personally, he would say what stupidity his fans do.

Thats what he told in a Sugar-Coated way during Felicitation of ARR by Chennai
Music Directors Association that
Don't abuse anyone's music, every music director has his own way of doing
things
Same way he would also say about the stupidity happening here

Finally,

I TOO AM A DIE HARD FAN OF A R RAHMAN. I RESPECT HIM FOR HIS TALENT.

But guys, dont act stupidly!!

Discuss about his compositions,

discuss what you liked in it,

let the other person also remind you of other composition that you might have
forgotten,

try to enjoy the nuances of his music,

focus on lyrics,

musical instruments used,

the way he switches from one Raga to other,

get more technical,

teach other who don't know the basics of music like Ragas,

discuss those things,

share your renditions,

let others give their feedback
 - These kind of healthy discussions shud be there. Not saying I saw him here,
there, kind of things.

Vithur and other co-ordinators please understand my point and explain it to
other Rahmaniacs.

One final thing, by just talking about the genius of A R Rahman, nothing good
is going to happen to us.

We will just keep seing how high Rahman goes each day. He has shaped his life
very well. He is planning for what he wants and he is achieving that. But what
about us? When will we be like that

So just admire his talent, aspire to be someone like him, or if music is not
your cup of tea, use that inspiration to become better in you field.

Just use his acheivements as your motivation and ofcourse his music will be on
you side to support you
 (morally).

IF WE DO THIS, NO ONE WILL BE MORE HAPPIER THAN A R RAHMAN HIMSELF, because he
will he happy for he inspired many for their own development and progress.

And A R Rahman, if you are reading this mail - do something about this
stupidity - just let them know not to be so stupid.

Thanks,
Ranjit

Re: [arr] Can there be a better human being than AR, ever???

2009-02-11 Thread !--Sri Balaji--!
Atlast.which is the one I am admiring for a very long long time has
strucked in our Rahmaniacs mind.

There is not doubt out that ARR is the reincarnation of Swami Vivekananda.

You know guys, Swami Vivekananda is very well knowledged in Indian Classical
Music. But he dedicated his life to uplift the country.

Certainly ARR is followed by many people in their livesLong Live ARR

As i always say, ARR is the Musical Vivekananda. . A life so pure
and so divine.. No wonder why he has so many followers..
A listen to the AR's rendezvous wit simi garewal is enough inspiration for us..

Hail Rahman sir.. He's DIVINE..

Thanks Rakesh. This heartening, and AR inspires us to be socially
responsible.

His humanitarian principles, the human values that he believes and follows
makes him more , more, more lovable.

Music comes later. The MAN is more loveable, adorable, respectful always.

In short, we can say His LIfe Is His Message

Hail ARR..

Every assignment is a fresh one for me. I will consider myself as a fresher,

The lady who interviewed our Musical Whizkid at A.M.Studios has no words to

Rahman is destined for something incredibly unpredictable.

[arr] A memorable lovely moments happened on Jan 6th(today evening) at ARR's home

2009-01-06 Thread !--Sri Balaji--!
Hi Dear Rahmaniacs,

Here goes a greatest moment for every Rahmaniac at Kodambakkam on Jan 6th at
ARR's home. Thanks a lot to Nazeef who got the appointment(between his busy
schedules) with ARR for celebration.

The Musical Whizkid asked who is designed/ordered this cake?

We fans mentioned Anees(who always deserves to work for ARR as a great fan) and
ARR cut the cake and fed it in his mouth. Everyone sang Happy Birthday when he
cuts the cake.

Venkat is another die hard fan who made a slam book for ARR. All the fans
penned their wishes it. ARR saw the wrapper of the book and asked him where he
got that printed photo(ARR's photo)?

He said it was taken from the internet. ARR got excited and responded casually
with great pleasure. He thanked everyone for their wishes.

One of ARR's associate served Sweet(Gulab Jamoon) to all the fans at
celebration.
This is one of the lovely, wonderful, memorable moment of my life.

ARR is a very very sweet person to admire. I am really stunning everytime when
he talks casually like a friend in face-to-face meet.

Happy Musical Birthday to all my dear fellow Rahmaniacs.

luving you all,
Sribalaji

Re: [arr] ~~ARRchennaifans~~ Re: Chennai ARR fans - shifting to next spectrum of social service

2008-11-20 Thread !--Sri Balaji--!
No response at all..

ARR is a extraordinary human being having lot of responsibilities and
commitments. ARR will meet people with a purpose. Last year people showed lot
of interest and made the celebration successful.

Now this year, no one is responding properly for the initiatives. Only Anees,
Vithur and Ganesh replied for this mail. Others are just silently watching
whats happening around.

NoNever ever ARR fans should be like this. We are not only admiring ARR as
a genius musician more than that we get lots and lots of inspiration from him.

I consider ARR as the successor of Swami Vivekananda.

Swami Vivekananda lived his life as a sanyaasin(Monk) and taught everyone the
way of living life.
A.R.Rahman has come to do the same in this rupture and arronged environment.

So guys, please co-operate and come up soon to plan out the things.

sribalaji

Hai all,

If we take a look at the recent and
forthcoming films of Rahman .I think most of them are Hindi films. Like
Yuvarraj,Ghajini,Blue, Dilli 6, Ashithosh Gowarikar's next film etc.
Exception is Yanthran(Robot) .

[arr] Chennai ARR Fans - Shifting to next spectrum of social service

2008-11-12 Thread !--Sri Balaji--!
Dear Rahmaniacs,

We chennai ARR fans did a charity event show with food distribution at
Nethrodaya - Homage for Blind on behalf of ARR's birthday last year.

This year we wanna celebrate ARR's birthday in a different fashion. Our Chennai
ARR fans club music band guys gonna start teach music and instrument playing
for Nethrodaya Blind people.

Lot of big talents available at Nethrodaya. Last year we found a great female
singer singing Chinna Chinna Aasai, another person playing flute made everyone
mismerised.

We welcome all the ARR fans to participate in this function. Hoping to make
this a successful event.

Luving you all,
sribalaji

Re: [arr] MAGIC OF RAHMAN :) Absolutely Siraj

2008-08-25 Thread !--Sri Balaji--!
Hi Siraj,

I am writing my experience. Indian Classical Arts called Rahman fans of Yahoo
Groups to work as volunteer for the ARR's concert held at Bangalore on October
8th 2005. Gopal arranged for that. That you all know. I am one among the 45
volunteers.

In that concert, at rehearsal times, ARR wearing a sea blue full hand T-shirt
and danced with kids in the stage. It was a rainy day. The school kids are
eagerly awaiting under the shelter to get onto the stage for performance.

I asked a Kid, can u speak some words about Rahman in Tamil who's(kid's) mother
tongue is tamil. He denied to talk in Tamil and started speaking in English
about Rahman. He said that he is going to dance for Vande Mataram song holding
small flag in his hand.

That kid adds up his favorite performing song is Vande Mataram. That moment I
realized how ARR inspired even a kid.

Thanks,
sribalaji.

Dear Rahmaniacs,

Chennai ARR Fans have thought over of celebrating Independence Day in an
Orphanage ( Name to be finalised soon ) with the children there . A lot of
activities have been thought over and a lot of discussions are going on like

1. Distributing PFMB Books to the children. ( In this way, we can contribute to
ARR Foundation, and also distribute the Books )
2. Setting up a library, sponsoring for their education like notebooks etc
3. Making them plant some saplings ( Afforestation Initiatives )
4. Flag Hoisting ( being Independence Day )
5. A Musical Performance by our Musically Talented members ( A lot many of them
being Km Students already )

Our members here have shown a lot of interest, and are planning for something
big. On behalf of all of them, I request more members from our YG  ( Fans from
Chennai ) to come forward and be a part of the celebrations proposed on Aug 15,
2008.

We should be finalising the Name of the orphanage soon, and would also be
informing members.

All are welcome. God Bless. :-)

Andrew Lloyd Webber's critically acclaimed Broadway musical Bombay
Dreams was staged at the fabulous Fox Theatre in Atlanta on August 8.

The audience, an eclectic mix of mainstream Americans and Indian-Americans,
enjoyed the colorful extravaganza that has music by celebrated Indian composer
A.R. Rehman.

Based on an idea by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Shekhar Kapoor, the
theatrical extravaganza first debuted in London in 2002 had a year long
Broadway run that began in April 2004.

The spirit of innocent fun, punctuated with exotic locales, intriguing
melodies, lavish dance numbers, love triangles and hairpin plot twists are the
various intricate facets of Bombay Dreams. Set in Mumbai, the musical blends
elements of Indian songs and dance numbers with the more familiar American
musical theater traditions.

Akaash (Sachin Bhatt), a young man from one of Bombay's poorest slums, dreams
of becoming a movie star. When he suddenly meets Priya (Reshma Shetty), the
movie-star daughter of one of Bollywood's most prominent film directors, he is
initiated very quickly into the world of glamor, glitz, romance, wealth and
fame that he dreamt of. He also finds himself at the apex of a love triangle
that involves Akash, the beautiful Priya and Vikram (Deep Katdare), her lawyer
boyfriend.

After realizing that his dream might destroy his friendship, family ties and
cultural links, he retreats at the end.

Rehman's score, especially the widely popular Shakalaka Baby and Chaiyya
Chaiyya made one want to join the company of the dancers on stage. The dances
were ably choreographed by Lisa Stevens.

The show ran successfully for six days. http://www.nripulse .com/CityNews_

Like listening to Bombay or Yuva tracks in the middle of few ADA
and JTYJN tracks, it is always refreshing when you go back and look at his old
interviews.. .An excerpt that I liked to share below...
Although Rahman's music has made him rich and famous, he remains something of a
Sufi ascetic. He wears handloom shirts and jeans (though he admits to owning
suits and things for special occasions), and drives a modest Toyota Qualis
because I don't need anything else. Gesturing at his studio, stuffed with the
latest mixers and synthesizers, he says: This is my BMW. He shares his house
in Madras with his wife, his three children and his mother, who still handles
his finances; Rahman asks her for money whenever he is short. I like to be
anbsp;musafir[vagrant] without any baggage, he says. Unlike other artists
steering themselves on a predetermined career path, Rahman is a strong believer
in taking a backseat. Life is a journey, but I don't hold the steering wheel,
he says. Somebody else is controlling it. I just handle each day as it comes.
Eachnbsp;day, maybe. But come the night, as the world is beginning to hear for
itself, it's very much
 A.R. Rahman at the controls.

How could you post such a kind of touching mail. I got tears on reading the
last two lines of your mail saying if copying is the issue try and copy
Rahman's humbleness, his talent, his helping nature to social causes That
will be something worth copying...nbsp;

Rahman RahE-maHAn ! wharey wah!!! Speechless on reading the lines.

I really salute your way of directing people to good path. Thanks Dinesh.

[arr] Yuva's RR and BGM

2008-05-04 Thread sri ram
Dear all,

I would like to discuss something that just leaves me perplexed about our
master's work in yuva. Do you people think that his work for yuva was at his
career's low(according to a particular review)?
I personally felt when I first watched the film that the BG for the movie was
one of it's kind and to date for me remains one of our boss's best work.
Any comments!

Hey Karthik,

I know u very well. In 2005 we ARR fans met at Anna Tower park beside Iyappan
Temple. Did u remember that? Myself, you, Vinoth Raju, Baskar, Guruprasad etc.,

We enquired at A.M.Studio itself. They gave us the Audio Media Education Pvt
Ltd., Office number. Thats it.

I got an information from one of ARR at chennai fan who knows the close
associates of ARR said that a new website gonna get launched soon. Registration
can be done in that.

I don't know how far this info is true. But as I observed from the consecutive
interviews of ARR, he himself mentioned initially 150 students are gonna be the
maximum strength and he got 300 applications so far.

I dont think this needs to be discussed here. Will it be appropriate to
criticise other MDs here. As ARR fans, we should never resort to that... ARR
will never like it.

Every MD cant become like ARR. Once in a millenium, there are incarnations,

2008-04-08 Thread !--Sri Balaji--!
Hi guys,

I got the confirmation of the concert by one of the associate of ARR. But not
officially announced. Because the Sharjah (Dubai) concert is on 18th which is
on Friday (sacred day for Islam in a week).

The concert on 20th may or may not occur depending on the action plan scheduled
for ARR between 18th to 20th. So lets wait.

Moreover, the audition for KM music conservatory is gonna be in action in the
2nd week of April, as a Principal ARR will finalize the list of students for KM
school. So we can expect the announcement in the 3rd week of this month.

  A Letter to my Fans

Dear fans

I had never thought of becoming a playback singer. I wanted to become a
classical singer and my role-model was Parveen Sultana.

It all started when I was in Calcutta for recording an album. At the recording
studio I met Kumar Sanu and he told me that I should give playback singing a
shot. I came to Bombay and I met Javed Akhtarji who introduced me to Mr. Rajesh
Roshan. He gave me my first break in his film - Moksh.

The turning point in my life came when I got a call from the very talented
living legend A.R.Rahman saab with an offer to sing for Saathiya in the song
Naina Milaike. I had met him a year back in a studio where I was recording a
jingle and then I didn't hear for him for a year. I assumed he didn't like my
singing till I got this offer from him. I have had the wonderful opportunity to
work with him and be a part of his group to be original, versatile and
different.

The winning of the prestigious Sony Stardust Award 2005 for the best female
singing sensation for the song kabhi neem neem in Yuva added new dimensions
to my musical sojourn.

I am thrilled to be singing with A.R.Rahman, Udit Narain, Hariharan, Shankar,
Alka and others and being on the same platform with that of the big names in
the music world of today.

I always wanted to lend my voice for Hema Malini and Madhubala.

My debut album is in process which would truly reflect the singing ability,
variety as a versatile singer. The announcement is due shortly.

Music for me is worship. My morning prayer itself is a musical offering to God.

I love to sing in front of thousands of cheering people and give them a
memorable evening to cherish. I am very much thankful to my fans audiences
who like to listen to me and appreciate.

SPB came on screen and sung a beautiful version of Jana Gana Mana composed by

Absolutely Rakesh. Adding up to rakesh's words, there is a new Television
Channel JAYAmax getting broadcasted in Tamil, which is dedicatedly telecasting
tamil film songs all the times.

Whenever you tune up to JAYAmax, you can often find ARR's songs. There is no
particular programme called Rahmania or ARR's songs. Its all the times
displaying ARR's chartbusters whenever I switch to it. Every morning after
getting up from the bed, I use to tune JAYAmax and watch ARR's songs being
displayed continuously.

Moreover, now a days most of the FM channels broadcasts ARR's songs
consecutively.

[arr] Reminder of the Martyres on March 23(film to which ARR's score awarded)

2008-03-25 Thread !--Sri Balaji--!
How many of you saluted the martyers Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru?

Did anyone watch the film The Legend of Bhagat Singh? ARR's composition will
move you and create a spirit of patriotism while watching the film.

Everyone knows that ARR got the best background score award for that film. I
think its the first chartbuster bollywood movie of patriotism for ARR.

I became an addict to this movie, I already watched this movie more than 15
times. Still the background score haunting, especially the score of the
Saunder's murder scene excellently portrayed with music, the escape of
Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and chandersekar azad from Lahore railway station, and
the death of Jatin da.

This movie should have given academy award for best background music score.
Moreover Bose - The unforgotten hero is tremendously scored. Rahman can only
do continous chartbusters like this. What do u say my dear rahmaniacs?

I preached many of my friends about ARR's music, I gifted some ARR albums and
all of a sudden everyone has become an ardent fan of our musical whizkid.

2007-09-10 Thread sri ram
arr was first introduced to mani by suhasini maniratnam, mani's wife.then mani
discussed roja with arr and asked him to do an album as an audition.arr sent
mani the album of roja to delhi within maybe one day and mani was so impressed
he roped in arr.we all know mani worked with IR until dalapathy after which he
had a tiff.
the point i'm making is, had mani known arr as an assosciate of IR,how does he
hear about arr through his wife?arr worked with IR as a keyboard player while
still a child and later went on to work with many other people.he was not
assosciated with IR for that long that he needs to credit his music with IR.the
music arr knows comes to him through his father Mr.R.Shekhar.

so guys all due respect to the great IR,but does arr really need to credit him?

What has been irking me more than 'ARRahman not crediting IR' is
'why

IR has not been instrumental in bringing out ARR's talent to the

world'. ARR has worked with IR for sometime, I would have expected IR

to pass the mantle. Why it has to be a director Mani Ratnam who heard

about Rahmans talent from word of mouth. Ofcourse a gifted talent

like ARR is not going to be hidden away. I have been a fan of IR

since 70s. I did not know much about the early years of ARR, as I

myself came to know his greatness as late as 1996. I am not trying to

stir up any contraversy, it is too late anyway, it is just something

I have been wondering but not opened up.

2007-09-02 Thread !--Sri Balaji--!
hi venkatesh,

It doesn't matter that you are professional singer or a bathroom singer. If
you have a passion of performing ARR's songs in stage then you are the person
who is most welcome.

I waiting for the proper response from our group members who belongs to
chennai. I know some good stage performing people but they are not more
passionate about performing ARR's songs.

Thats why i want our group's fellow instrumentalists to come up.

  regards,
  sribalaji

Re: [arr] Re: Aamir Khan deeply involved in Ghajini remake

2007-08-30 Thread sri ram
Ghajini as such is not a movie that is out of this world. It is a story of one's
vengeance which the director tries to tell in Memento fashion.
And as Aamir said he was not happy with the last half hour and asked for a
change which was accepted by director Muragadoss.
But in Tamil it was the protagonist's and the girl's performance with some
standout songs that pulled the class audiences to the theatres.
But with Aamir's touch and of course with our Isai Puyal, the movie should be
much more rocking than the original.
