[AsburyPark] Parking article in Today's APP

So I wrote:

Misleading article. Read on:

1. Pay for Parking is nothing new - just in AP now that it was PUT BACK after 
years of not being needed. See http://www.asburyboardwalk.com/cards/c6.htm old 
map for parking along with rates circa 1964...

2. The article FAILED to mention the pay by smart phone app - MPayToPark.com - 
many cities are using this app/system for public parking. Download the app on 
your smartphone, and you don't have to stop at a pay station - however you will 
be charged an extra .35 fee. BUT - you don't have to run back to a pay station, 
don't have to stand on line, no cash, no credit card AND you get a reminder 
BEFORE your time is up. 

THE DRAWBACK - you have to establish an account with a $25 balance - so you pay 
up and then every time you park, it draws down - just like ez pass which many 
people b about. the city should kill the balance requirement or processing 
company - it likes a deterrent to those who only come a couple times and don't 
feel like having a $25 upfront balance they may only draw upon once or a couple 
time. Other cities it's simple - pay as you same concept. 

As for problems - I had two - one resolved by letter to the court, the other 
resolved within 2 hours by the MPay2Park customer service - they answered, took 
down the info, passed it on, got back an email and a credit. 

3. EASIER TO PARK - when they did FREE parking in the winter, ALL the people 
living on cookman PARKED ON COOKMAN, taking up all the spaces for the customers 
(as do workers and business owners)

4. CHEAPEST PARKING - $2.00 an hour on ocean ave..., $1.00 hour 
elsewhere.big deal. $1.00 or $2.00 to park while you spend $10 on a drink 
or $20 for pasta or $12 for a burger?? And there are 15 minute short stops 
where you can park for free if you need to run in somewhere.

5. Income - Never understand why you have to spend almost ALL you take in on 
expenses. And you don't need an officer to run a parking authority. either 
outsource it or hire someone (non pd) to manage it and run it. Let a trained 
officer do other pd work. Not sure the setup, but that's a thought.

SO - Promote the parking app, maybe USE THE MONEY for other programs that 
REALLY HELP the kids and not to admin expenses - like RECREATION and OTHER KID 
PROGRAMS.

The danger of being shot is real for first responders in Asbury Park, says 
Robert Fahnholz, the president of International Association of Fire Fighters 
Local 384 — and that's why he says bulletproof vests for city firefighters are 
a good idea.

It's been talked about in the past. However, it's a complicated issue, he 
said.

Shame when you have to be in fear of doing your job - of saving someone else's 
life and risking your OWN life and that of your OWN family.

[AsburyPark] How long branch handles Certificate of Occupancy

anytime you want to put a new tenant in, they check your sewer tax and property 
tax - not current on taxes, you can't apply for a certificate of occupancy.

and they are pretty tough on inspections.

don't like it, don't be a landlord - in Long Branch.

Up up and away.

I still say the AVG they use isn't quite right. Looks like only another $20 
month... - like having a cosmo on the boardwalk off happy hour.

but for those above average it's a bigger hit.

You need new construction that is taxable to help soften this what look like 
little hits each year. you also have to hope that the schools continue to get 
state aid and remain troubled - the more problems, the more money they get to 
fix it. Kind of like raising homes in flood prone areas. The next genius will 
say they have to build the roads higher as well.

One interested municipality is Atlantic City, where the city's Casino 
Reinvestment Development Authority board heard a proposal from representatives 
of the Garden State Film Festival last week.

This is a tremendous opportunity for Atlantic City, said James Kehoe, 
chairman of the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority board, in a

I totally thought of you as I wrote that. I always respected your lessons and 
recall that you and your husband raised some good kids.

1. The Senior Center. You should call them 732-988-5252 . Im sure they would 
love to have you there.

2. The election. Again, I agree 100% . If people think the election was 
tinkered with on either side, then either have a new election or figure out who 
is and who isn't eligible to vote, how they voted, if they voted and did they 
understand who they voted for - without fear, intimidation or payoffs. - Did 
they vote freely.

3. Asbury has had and still does in all areas of the city - schools, public 
service, churches, social programs, courts a very large racially diversified 
group of qualified people. Male, female, straight, gay, italian, jewish, irish 
etc - mix it all up any way you want. This is where my comment:

 - Graduation has not gone up
 - Taxes have not gone down
 - Crime has not decreased

No one has a magic wand to stop the problems. You and your husband seemed to 
have that and some luck. 

Not everyone has the parenting skills and LUCK it takes to keep a kid going in 
the right direction.

4. As for the profiling -  when your own jewish princess get's profiled  - 
finally had to get a lawyer to put an end to it. Funny things happen when a 
girl turns down a date from an officer. 

Drive through allenhurst - we call it the Gestapo.

what race the person is who is leading the city.

That should be the least of the issues in AP. 

There is NO correlation to race and success of a city or it's people.

Matter of fact, many towns in NJ should MERGE, use shared services and be run 
by professionals.

Most everyone who ran in this past election is very qualified to service both 
on the council and mayor.

It's about time, RACE is taken out of the issue  - as well as sexual 
orientation.

Many of you may not like it, but it's a fact - 

CRIME doesn't decrease
GRADUATION rate doesn't increase
TAXES don't decrease

You just need good simple clean leadership. I like the approach to rotate mayor 
role. 

What fun would AP be without controversy.

And over at the BOE

nice to see an old super from Ocean Twp come over as a temp to help improve the 
49% graduation rate and oversee $90 million in 94% state funded monies.

the new mayor and whomever comes in as city mgr has to look at a budget where 
there are more on retirement pensions then actual payroll. And in looking at 
the ranks of potential retirees - there are quite a few who are approaching 
that time who stuck it out and deserve it. 

You gotta figure out how just to cover all those accumulated sick days and 
v-days that no one ever seemed to take. 

Taxes HAVE to go up . Hopefully Istar chugs along and continues to build so 
someday, that land will begin to pay into the fund.

I think I counted around 15 cops/special cops around the bw on my bike ride 
last night. Maybe more. Around 7:30 pm

Make sure you put in for a few minutes more - ain't no grace period.

Someone told me the other day they were in a show on a wed night - headed out 
to put mo in - and had already received a ticket Wed - 9:46 pm .

He was ticked that he was ticketed. (reminds me of 5th grade grammar class)

I finally downloaded the mobile app. MPay2Park.com to register. download the 
app on your phone and give them your CC . you get a $25 balance charged to your 
cc.

[AsburyPark] BOARDWALK Questions....

Had a nice dinner at Stella tonight - invited some people down and they took me 
out. Got to watch my son work - very enjoyable.

1. Noticed they added three of the new lights on the bw - one was lit. Looked 
real nice - much better then the parkway lights on the bw. 

2. We walked after dinner and got stopped at Convention Hall - seems they lock 
the doors to the arcade @ 9pm unless the beach bar is open - that according to 
the 2 AP PD working that end. 

3. F-in parking meter got me again - since it doesn't take amex - I didn't have 
a visa card with me, I had those singles ready - Thing stopped working after 
the first dollar - started blinking on me - BILL STACKER OVERFLOW - wtf - I 
hit cancel got same error - I noticed a receipt printed. I got a $1.00 refund. 
I guess I am supposed to take this to city hall. Great - like the last one I 
left in my shorts - went in the wash. 

SAw quite a few cars with tickets. Still alot of people don't get that you have 
to pay - MAYBE if they repainted the numbers, people will get it - or on the 
street - PAY AT METERS .. and change the mobile app so you can pay on the 
fly - instead of having to setup an account with a $25 balance...the guy I was 
with was more or less an internet and app - having made quite a few $ with some 
major sales of his startups - agreed - pay per vs setting up an account with a 
running balance. It screws up the single use visitor. 

Something about the boardwalk on  a night like this

[AsburyPark] Parking spot numbers...and mobile app

Are there plans to repaint the spot numbers - at least on first ave - if you're 
a regular you might be able to figure your spot number - but I watched a number 
of people guess at the spot number - because they are worn out. 

City should consider going to zone parking - 

as far as the mobile app - 

Went to use the app (mpay2park.com) other day for the first time. Started to 
register while I was the bar - and they want a $25.00 balance - or more. They 
up you when your balance goes below $10. 

Here again, this may be confusing or a turnoff for a regular visitor (not that 
I don't use it - I look for the $1 hour spot , my wife splurges for the $2 O 
ave spots) - feels like you are paying $25 to park - or that once your account 
goes below $10 you got popped back up to the $25. 

Curious how others use it or how well the mobile app is working.

In Ft Lauderdale  - their app is  paybyphone.com HOWEVER - there is a .25 
transaction fee - again no biggie or a .35 fee if you want a text reminder your 
meter is running low. BUT - there ARE NO BALANCE requirements. 

In looking at the 2 services the Ft Lauderdale app may be easier - and quicker 
and less to maintain - as they don't have space numbers, rather zone numbers - 
so you don't have to paint each spot. ALSO, may be better for a part time 
visitor or those without extra on their Credit card...

So who prefers what - the .25 transaction fee or a $25 balance requirement?

See the exceptions which should be eliminated anyway. If one unit is owner 
occupied, then they change. 

It was 1-4 as a rule. Better to own a 3 family or less, then you avoid the 
mess. 

The real issue is landlords and all property owners having a stake in their 
surroundings.

Condominiums, Cooperatives, Mutual Housing Corporations. Though the Hotel and 
Multiple Dwelling Law provides that multiple dwelling buildings having a 
condominium or cooperative or mutual housing corporation form of ownership are 
under the Bureau's jurisdiction, the law also exempts sections of such 
buildings that: 1) contain not more than four dwelling units, 2) have at least 
two exterior walls unattached to any adjoining building section and where 
attached, are attached exclusively by fire-resistant rated walls, and 3) 
contain dwelling units that are owner-occupied (if both owner- and 
non-owner-occupied units are contained therein, only the owner-occupied units 
are exempt).

not at all. Many landlords aren't exactly so great either. I'm not the world's 
best myself. I was just pointing out that given how many times a home is 
supposed to be inspected, many things get overlooked for one reason or another 
- such as the inspector isn't that comfortable looking around in some homes, 
can't get in, just does a drive-by or really isn't qualified. 

What's REALLY INSANE, in my opinion is how stupid the programs are - so if a 
resident in AP for example is on a voucher from say the Middletown Housing 
Authority, the inspector from THAT AUTHORITY comes out and does the initial and 
renewal inspection - along with the first time city co and fire inspection. 

it's really time to merge the maybe 62 or more different housing authorities in 
the state in addition to each county running programs . 

If they did then the convention business would suffer...http://www.phada.org/

but it may also save time for people to not have to shop and be put on a list 
for housing.

[AsburyPark] Single family homes and prices inAP

Since I've been kind of tracking single family home prices in AP the past 10 
years I think this is the lowest inventory.  Currently 54 single family homes 
are in the MLS. At the same time prices given everything else seem to risen 
again to new levels. I didn't look at what has actually sold the past year just 
the current ask. So you have to look at ask vs sold.  Either way west side and 
east side.

So what's responsible...you can write a hundred articles and twist 
it...hurricane sandy,   cheap money, cheap houses given the proximity to the 
ocean, a cool town, investor gambling,  istar cleaning up, springwood 
redevelopment causing westside prices to rise, new York prices too high,large 
homes appear cheap relativeto neighbors,dedication of owners one by one to 
rebuild and restore their community.

[AsburyPark] Schools ?

Has anyone ever tracked a student who has traveled from PRE-K to Graduation in 
AP?

In other words, can someone break down some data that shows over the past 12-14 
years:

1. Longevity of kids in the school system (exmaple - what grade they started in 
the system at  - Pre-k, 4th grade, 9th grade etc)

2. If they came in the system, where did they come from (higher performing 
district/lesser quality...?) 

3. If they left the school system and moved onto another, how'd they do? 

You get the idea. Of course you can add more.  That would make some cool 
research - and may yield some real info.

I still want to see the basic data - a kid from PRE-K to Graduation - how did 
they fare? 

Like a teacher told me in HOLMDEL - parents TRY to get their kids placed in 
Special ed - so their kids get more personal time  - time to take tests, 
excuses for being out not doing hw etc - NOT the real intent of the classes.

A shame.

HS also has lousy SAT scores and under 400 students - decrease from previous 
year.

Impressive to get a good football team with so few students.

SO much money at all these different programs in AP along with school dollars. 
All non-profits in AP and programs should be under one general board.

It may not matter who gets elected is the point without being able to deliver

Note the real plan of action. 

Not living in AP, but being there everyday more or less and having some 
interest (not as owner) in a building or 2 - there HAS been a difference - as I 
said - in the people that buy OR rent AND take pride in what they have. 


That's what you need.


I never understand the create jobs stuff - is that government jobs or public 
sector jobs ? 

One of the largest employers is right down the road - Jersey Shore Medical and 
all the doctors and related businesses. Do any of these already funded programs 
or the school have any programs towards a career in the medical field?

To me, the BIG question is that with SO many qualified people running (as per 
the bios that have been posted)  - how come all those bad things still exist? 

So far seems like a lot of buzz words...

Tossing hundreds of millions at the problems doesn't seem to be the answer so 
what is?

For the most part lots of AP seems to be in the best shape it has ever been - 
don't know who is responsible for it - other then the people who move in (rent, 
buy or invest) and appreciate what they have. Again, it doesn't matter if you 
buy or rent, just take a second to two and take care of your yard, sidewalk or 
street.   

Seems pretty simple. 

I've given a rake, a lawnmower and even offered tenants money to take care of 
their own yard some things will never change. 

So I spent the better part of my day yesterday being a good landlord - tractor 
leaf blower, trimmer - making sure my tenants enjoyed their sunny sunday. 

It may not matter who gets elected is the point without being able to deliver a 
real plan of action.

Now as for the McMansions 5 bedrooms plus etc - 

They typically are OVERTAXED relative to the schools and in general... they 
typically do not use those services - like schools (private) etc.

Some buy it because they can and have no real use for all those rooms. Unless 
they fill it with shoes and clothes and use a room or more for their cats and 
dogs... plenty of empty-nesters 

So says brother-in-law . 

The reason for places like Wesley and Senior housing - is to generate tax 
revenues and to support the schools with those taxes. 

there's plenty of studies on both sides.

Here at least the program in some way helped get the development going - but 
what if someone said nope ?

Doug, I guess Dan and Werner therefore should not pay towards schools either, 
since neither of them have kids in the schools - nor does dan use garbage 7 or 
months of the year...that's  not how the system works. and the city fire 
department - they don't only put out fires - they respond thousands of time a 
year to ER calls 


Reminds me of a crazy neighbor without kids who put the VOTE NO School Budget 
sign on his property - which happened to be the bus stop for the kids as well.

Well, I see we agree.

I responded to your point how some people have NO KIDS using the 
resources as if therefore, those people shouldn;t be obligated to pay their 
portion of school taxes - or garbage, ems etc

And my the $84,000 note was in response to a asburyparksun.com and APP article 
that the AVG assessed home in AP is $84,000 - which I believe to be wrong - the 
data on the state site is wrong and is based on the number of rows - 
associated to the database - which contains misc junk data - bored - I 
scrubbed it somewhat to remove it and came up with the AVERAGE ASSESSED value 
is $128,000. Of course, that has no bearing on taxes - just wrong data being 
used in research or comments to the press


And we agree there are arguments on both sides on whether the abatements, given 
to the developers (to spur development and therefore occupation which create a 
demand for businesses) has a long term benefit. those properties need to come 
on the tax rolls and will once those periods expire. State contribution will 
decrease (should) and AP may someday become less dependent on state aid to run 
it's day to operations.

Well that according to the AsburyParkSun and The BOE.

The only way I see that number - in wasting time looking at the tax records - 

Is to take All the single family properties as per the tax records (when you 
run it comes not 100% correct)

If you follow those results you get $269,549,615.00.

Take that and divide it by the number of records (3,194)

You get the $84,392 number.

Then my 8th grade teacher would say... now use your head - does make sense to 
you 

Ballpark not wasting to much time, I'd toss out records like condo parking 
and some common elements - 

I think without really going over the data  - the AVERAGE Single Family in AP 
is assessed at $128,000.

Then again it took me a few times to pass stats in college.

Tough decision to pass the budget with the State picking 83 % of the tab... 
(really more if add in the extra $).

[AsburyPark] Recycling and north beach dunes..

Its nice all that helped to build the dunes...next time someone should think 
that you can use old lumber for the posts or stakes not new lumberand to 
attach the fencing you don't need decking screws..cheaper to use a nail.
But I wasn't there to volunteer. Just thought given all the good lumber that 
went to the dump after the storm someone would use recycled.

$39,000 for 3rd ave pav (arcade, langosta)
$16,000 for the land from 1st Ave to 3rd. home to a few pop-ups AND the 
splash park , bathrooms etc. 
$46,000 year on 1st ave pav - on tax agreement. - whatever that is.
They pay $51,000 year tax on Casino...
-They pay $188,000 year tax on CH/Paramount

let's go back for the reason for the tennis courts - 

 - something like to bring the community together give the kids blah blah

 - somewhere maybe 5 years ago they paid people to engineer it etc etc  - 
probably another million for a 100,000 or less job. Just a guess.

tennis program only appears to exist for grades 5-8 according to rec info on 
city website. so I guess after 8th grade nothing exists?

I think the tennis courts should be utilized for what they were intended for 
and they should be named the Serena and Venus Williams Tennis Courts.

and then someone can start FB pages to save the serena and venus williams 
tennis courts in asbury park  

as for pickle-ball - it would be a great use there. ONE tennis court = TWO 
pickle-ball courts. 2-4 players  or 8 players.

summer looking to get together. Might be in spring lake area. I need to find 
unused tennis courts and or towns willing to convert a few to pickelball.  Half 
the size of a tennis court and fun. Fb page coming as the web site. Interested

1. Istar is smart.
2. There is a huge demand for apartment buildings and for approved 
developmentzforget the fact its in the OCEAN.
3.this is the hottest rental market for developers. 
4. Now to build material ain't getting cheaper. Labor is. Let the builder build 
without whom they choose not be forced to use all union or other politically 
appointed semi union labor...free market. 
6. Looks like the boardwalk is becoming the barwalk...

I should say that was from a FB post by Debbie Delisa - i copied the first part 
of her post.  Granted when they took the WB - it was a boarded up grey 
shell.

And MM did come in and clean up Fishman's mess - but then they signed up to do 
business with the City. MM also managed to finish up Wesley Grove... and the 
paramount and and and... 

$20 on the weekend and special events... 

the pony is more profitable to hold events outdoors...

Did with nordstroms, got my $ back, the ladders.com got my Recurring fee, 
timewarner, etc. 

Companies have to really take a good look at HOW and WHY they use non-social 
media  like twitter, fb and all the other bs - that is actually now charging to 
get your message out. IF you have a co and you post a message, it does not get 
out to all your followers.

2. Let's see - so if they keep it closed, people don't come, their leaseholders 
suffer and, if the leases are based on a % of sales, they hit their own 
pocketbooks. 

3. Do they need funding to get the minigolf cleaned up?

4. In the end, if a grant or other funding mechanism is needed to open it up 
and bring people in, guess what - it probably has to be done - unless someone 
has the balls to say no to a request they do need. 

5. and to werner, the building may be fireproof but people aren't. And SMOKE 
kills more then then flames do. And a fire is what eventually put out 
Convention Hall Coffee shop some...shit almost 40 years ago. Time flies. Codes 
were made stricter for places were people gather after the numerous club fires. 
Intentional and unintentional. 

A reason I never liked the pony - afraid of getting stuck in there. And I still 
think it's scary.

significant loss every year — and to invest so much additional capital in this

Doesn't sound that much given the size and complexity of CH. 

Kind of the reason supermarkets sell milk at a loss . 

CH was always run at a loss . But if you run shows /events - that brings 
people who spend money in the boardwalk businesses - and therefore you get to 
charge MORE rent and sell more booze.

Sell $2.00 beer all summer.

 HER Letter
Say no to the Asbury Park bond plan. What I really want to say is: Say no 
to the Asbury Park bond scam.

The City Council and city manager have concocted a sham wherein the city would 
sponsor the issuance of up to $58 million in bonds to finance the 
infrastructure on the waterfront.

They say that this proposal is innovative. It is not innovative, unless you 
think giving away our tax dollars is innovative.

They say no one in the state has proposed such a plan. Yes, that's probably 
true because no other municipality could be so irresponsible as to even think 
of proposing such a sham.

Without getting into detail, the proposed plan would give 40 percent of the 
conventional real estate taxes to the developer to pay off these bonds. This 
gift to the developer would last for 30 years.

In the past, the developer was always responsible to pay 100 percent of the 
total cost of the infrastructure, and that is the way it works in every other 
municipality.

I say, let the developer, a public corporation whose CEO is making millions of 
dollars, and the wealthy people buying their $500,000 townhouses be responsible 
to pay for their own infrastructure.

This plan is irrational. Asbury Park is still broke and under state supervision 
and has very high real estate tax rates. Its debt is astronomical, and yet the 
council wants to give our tax revenues away to a public corporation.

The overtaxed residents of Asbury Park should demand that the plan be withdrawn 
by the city immediately.

This council`s accomplishments have been higher taxes (a 40 percent increase) 
and higher debt ($60 million). This plan would continue their legacy of 
financial and leadership failure.

Do some homework. The state if nj has a study in abutments. One noted 
issue...schools being excluded. City benefits IF controlled right. City should 
then make payments to schools. Schools state funds will be reduced. Burden then 
shifts to taxpayers. No kids or one hundred. You avoid the fact that support 
for schools comes down to property owners. Most the country. If you can't 
afford the schools and the state cuts. Then what close the schools. Story now 
on half hollow schools in nj. Highest taxes in state or near so. Another report 
shows its. 26 year point where schools begin to receive money. Lots if studies.

Its also shown that abatements are used in what becomes a wealthy area vs used 
to develop lower income areas. You make more money using abatements when you 
build upper income .geniuses. brilliant co istar.

Nice to see some improvements in the streetscspes since istar got going.

Easier to have it the race track then schlepping everyone to ap... easy setup, 
host a bigger crowd/event with less risk and costs = more cash for the vendors 
and promoters. And the track can handle the crowd

Residents received a letter on Sept. 21 saying monthly rents would increase 
to $950 per one-bedroom unit; $1250 per two-bedroom unit; $1600 per 
three-bedroom unit; and $1900 per four-bedroom unit.
Currently, a two-bedroom unit is $966, one resident said at last night's 
council meeting, and a three-bedroom unit is $1,100.
Vitus Group is completing more than $7 million of repairs to the structures

This is one of the MAJOR problems with State and Fed subsidizing rents - it's 
based on MARKET RATES for units in a given area. So what happens - rents TEND 
TO GO UP, because the state is paying a major portion of the rent (like 80 to 
90%). So most tenant's find a place to live, not really caring if their share 
is from $10  to $300 if the going rents are $900 to $1800 - would you really 
care? 

The ones who suffer are those that ARE NOT on subsidies. And really, if you're 
personal income GOES UP , then the gov
t subsidy goes down, more  so then the income needed to cover the rent.

Shit, I can go on for ever. I might have more of these thoughts on RentLaw.com 
. 

And no one ever wants to lose the subsidy either (well some do). Instead, find 
a job off the books or work just enough hours on the books...as not to impact 
your subsidy

I had a tenant who took her middletown township voucher (used in ocean 
township) and decided after a couple years to move to Florida - voucher in hand.

There are those that truly need help and unfortunately, the system is broken... 
just as the whole banking and mortgage programs have been scammed as part of 
the foreclosure crisis. 

There are OPPORTUNITIES to take those subsidies and turn those into home 
ownership.

It's cause spending exceeds income. Like my house.

All someone has to do is take a few minutes and read the budget line by line. 
and you'll never be able to pay salaries, and all that saved sick and v time 
either. Just keep on pushing off what you owe down the line to someone comes 
along with a bigger eraser. AP isn't alone. Lot's of cities are bankrupt. 

My kid's nonsense traffic tickets can't pay all the salaries.

Here's a hint. When someone calls to open a business in asbury, they can't be 
given a runaround and be told to show proof it was used as a commercial 
building. You'd think after being used that way for 77 years that would be 
proof enough.

made by a former city employee who was intimately involved in the process, he 
have to ask some questions [sic], Beck is quoted as saying in the release. 
Asbury Park receives millions of dollars in state aid every year, more than 
any other town in Monmouth County. The state has invested itself into the 
future of Asbury and we need to know exactly what the City's leadership is 
doing with all this money.
A fiscal monitor has already been assigned to the city, according to the 
release.
Clearly we need to dedicate more resources to helping them get their house in 
order, Beck is quoted as saying. The Division of Local Government Services 
will have to increase its involvement to find out exactly what is going on in 
Asbury.

1. millions spent on red light cameras and new poles...all around NJ - not in 
AP yet.

2. few if any street cameras to MAYBE deter crime

3. someone calls city hall about opening a new business that would create jobs 
in an existing manufacturing type of building...and gets thrown to a million 
hoops. Ok, I got them into toms river...

4. remove the word luxury from 200 deal lake drive. Really. 

5. at the same time, if a kid gets done WORKING down the boardwalk and follow 
my advice at deal lake and kingsley slow and go  so you don't get approached 
by some luniatic at 200 deal lake drive - don't ticket them...

6. make some of the food prices for everyday lunch food a bit more affordable 
- that of course qould require MM not to shake everyone down so much in rent. I 
would love to get a slice of pizza on the boardwalk - but if a pizza place has 
to close down on a boardwalk - makes no sense.

7. If you can't serve good food cause you have a small kitchen, don't have so 
many tables. Better yet, if you do, make sure you bring out edible food. 
micowave chicken tossed under the rice is still microwaved chicken for $27

8. Be friendly when we drop tons of money in your place. Even if we don't, say 
thank you.that goes for owners, waiters, bartenders...

In reality sports are great for school spirit and pride. 

Most of us grew up geting our ass kicked on dirt and stone fields or on our 
street. For grass we headed over to the golf course.

Then along came lawyers and artificial turf.

As for grades improving grades - well none of us here have any numbers to back 
it up - maybe an example here and there. 

It comes down to not how well you play on the field - but how well you behave, 
learn and study. Like a playbook - for many it MIGHT be a way into college or 
staying out of trouble - but for 99.99 percent - the sport will not be their 
career. 

It's the books and learning how to read, study, write and present yourself in 
the real world. No coach, no catering to. 

For those that want to take some time and apply science, there are many studies 
out there with regards to sports and academics. 

Hope they keep the field up. If it works for x number of kids per year, then 
good.

County ended Friday – three weeks early – because of club finances, executive 
director Douglas Eagles said.

It usually runs until Aug. 31, but this is a way to ensure our financial 
viability to reopen in the fall, Eagles said.

The early closing affected 83 children. Another 35 children in the daycare 
program will continue through the summer, he said.

The club, at different times during the past two years, has reported that its 
fundraising had been slow during the recession.

During the upcoming three-week period, an area troupe, the Bar-Top Bandits, 
will be giving children singing and dancing classes from 2 to 5 p.m. each 
Tuesday through Aug. 28, said Everett Brothers, a co-founder and creative 
producer of the group.

A Labor Day weekend fundraiser in Asbury Park is planned to benefit the club, 
Eagles said.

We're managing through, he said. We'll do whatever it takes to make it 
happen, so the kids have a safe place.

I used Richs autobody on Asbury Ave - about 16000 of work when my neighbor 
rammed our jeep and bmw. On the bmw they had to cut the rear qt panel up to the 
roof and rear window out - trunk etc - matched up paint and all.

1. Its nice o see the tine and effort you put in Russ.

2. Never own something trendy. Fashionable elegant great view etc. Trends end. 
You are as good as your bartenderslocation helps the cool part. Then trends 
go to now where...ports etc. Bacca?  Only as good as long as someone else 
doesn't come along 
Cooler trendier etc. 

I can think of 30 cool trendy places I went to in AP over the past 33 years.
Now I just got back from AC with a barter with the revel. 
Very very trendy. Very well done. Bankruptcy always help.
Great food. No worse in price to most in AP. And entertainment
 And a clean room. Friendly employees going.out of their way. 

The trendy competition is heating up in AC. And not sure what your demo is but 
I watch and listen to my kids and myself.  I like music clean fun. Good people
 And happy employees when I spend my hard earned money

 4. As for rents as I say all the time. Landlord invests in a building. 
Landlord pays mortgage landlord has to pay taxes insurance most maintenance etc
 Then landlord has to hope tenant makes money. So tenant has to pay employees 
all etc...and build it into cover charge drink prices etc. Ugly cycle.

5. Drinking age. Dwi laws. Make places like revel great. Stay party and don't 
drive. 

Trends like AC ...@ 18 we drove down for playboy club resorts...then trop. Then 
borgota...now revel. Now resorts is getting a Margaritaville. Hardrock coming.

Who knows what will happen at monmouth park. Or if long branch expands. Or if a 
new hot spot comes to AP. 

I'm kinda in the music business. I have someone who more or less has lived with 
mefor the past ten summers. He raps. I'm pitching in to help him as long as 
college is first music technology. Good kid. 

And the fastlane wasn't always the fastlane. When my kid is blasting away at 
the new side of porta to a DJ...I still think of walking into Xanadu. Weird.

 the potential of this town could say that I don't value preservation.  I 
 understand the importance of preservation but at the same time, I understand 
 business.  This is my major problem with many people in this town.  They long 
 for the past but don't have a clue as to how to create something real in 
 today's terms.  
 
 I've put my money, my time and my passion on the line to create, support and 
 cultivate a true culture in Asbury.  I've been booking local bands at my club 
 for the past 2 years.  I've lost thousands of $ doing so, but I still do it.  
  I believe wholeheartedly in preservation and supporting the arts.  What I 
 don't support is sentimentality and the emotion that people have for 'the 
 past'. The Fast Lane is a broken building in a broken industry.  The building 
 has no value.  You were the one that called out for it to be saved.  If you 
 don't have the ability to step up and do something, then don't call others

 You're correct, the government has made many, many mistakes in Asbury over 
 the years.  The current council, as well as the zoning and planning boards 
 are continuing to clean up the mess of generations of corrupt and stupid 
 developers and politicians.  Do your homework and put the blame where it

Then you need the land on which to build.

Can't say the Empress is family friendly and more or less the Berk is the same.

AP on the whole isn't really family friendly - from eating to sleeping and most 
will say that's not the intent. 

Does someone want to build a hotel for one or two big events? Doesn't pay the 
bills the rest of the year. That staff and debt need to bet paid.

Turn the savoy into a holiday inn express.  -  shuttle people down to the bw.

Asbury Towers  - turn the top 5 floors into a hotel...

Deal Lake towers luxury apartments... need I say more. 

100 rooms in NJ gets you a liquor license. 

I'd like to see a small hotel with a blackjack table in AP.

I'd save some gas.
