I find it interesting that a certain group of people in society use the term "homophobic" when the term doesn't even apply to that situation at all. The term "homo" has to do with the idea of something being the same, and "phobic" has to do with fear of something. So, when someone labels another as homophobic, all they are really saying is that the person they've labeled as such merely fears things that are the same. Since we are all humans, homo sapiens, that must mean there sure is a lot of fear out there according to those who would use that term "homophobic".I also am sick and tired of people that get offended when someone uses a certain term, and then they go out and do the exact same thing. It's like being back in elementary school where a child would have a fit when someone else would do something, but would be perfectly cool with doing the same thing him/herself. Many of you, I can tell, understand where I'm coming from. I also know that some who view this may be offended, and that's fine with me as you have that right. I don't mind someone disagreeing with me on something, not at all. However, if you disagree with someone, don't just bash them, but back up your reason for disagreeing. I also thank whomever started this thread as you brought up these points in a good way. I also hope the rest of you out there are still hanging in there after all of this time being locked away like jailbirds. I feel for all of you. I have totally lost my career over this insanity, and now am forced to have to go through a career change which, I fervently hope, will work out.

Making of Audiowizards Multiplayer

Hi! My name is Martti Kandelin. I’ve been a member of the AudioWizards Multiplayer team since last Autumn, and while working most of my time as the game’s graphics artist, I have been recently moved to the role of Beta test coordinator. Now, while we wait for the Beta-Test Day, we thought it would be a good idea to tell a short story about how we reached this point.The project originates from Autumn 2019, in Turku University of Applied Sciences, here in Finland, during a Capstone Innovation Project course. We were initially seven students, but in January we grew to nine, including programmers, a networker, graphic designers, and one marketer. The main goal of the project was to figure out how to make an interesting multiplayer audio game. We didn’t have prior experience in audio games, and neither did we know what it felt like to play a game using only audio, nor how few are accessible out of most current games for blind and visually impaired players. The first couple of months we thought about different concepts, two of the most interesting being a player versus player and a players versus A.I. game. Time was running fast, and we knew programming A.I. could put, because of its difficulty, the whole project at risk. So we took the other option. Now, looking backwards, I think we made the right decision. We also liked the previous AudioWizards and the funny stories of Saundaman, so we decided to use that world as a guideline but under a new concept, so to say.After winter holidays, the concept, development roles, tasks and the project schedule were kind of clear. We got nice tutoring from David, the CEO of myTrueSound and from Jani, Axel and Joonas, who were behind the original AudioWizards. We met David every week, and the rest once a month. They were critical with us, but also gave us the freedom to create, test and innovate, because that was the point of the whole Capstone Course after all.We worked applying sprint periods and meetings every Tuesday and Friday. First came the movement, map layout, sound design and further re-definition of the game design. Later came the networking, controls, game mechanics, accessibility issues and so on. We have learned a lot, and by the end of the project we knew much more about game design and development. Work was fluent, but we tried to be critical with our own work as much as we could.As part of the Capstone Course we had to present our project in one pitching and two Demo Day competitions. Competition was tight, since there were 40 other teams besides us. Pitching didn’t go so well, I guess. First Demo Day went much better, even though we didn’t win. Second Demo Day was affected by COVID-19, but our team actually won the best presentation video award, and that felt nice. The Covid-19 also affected the way we work, and we had to change the way we meet and share ideas and tasks, since suddenly everything was remote.After the Capstone Course the prototype was working, but certainly we were far away from Beta. Me and Jakub, an excellent programmer by the way, were contracted by myTrueSound to get it done, and here Jani, Axel and Joonas came to join us and helped towards our goal.We are very glad at the moment. In a few days the closed Beta will launch, and nearly a hundred testers will gain access to it. I asked the devs about that a while back, actually. Yes, it is also available for Linux. However, they were not able to get text to speech to work on Linux with the Unity plugin they are using. Since this is a database for audio games, the author of the database entry likely wanted to only list platforms that the game is actually accessible on.

Lol, for Apple, the price is the biggest enemy. I hate the prices that they charge and in India, it absolutely doesn't makes sence to buy an Apple device. Therefore there market share is just 1% of the entire smartphone market of this country. Much like saying 1% of the population which is ritch buys Apple, 99% of poor and midle class go for other options.

Hi.well i have one problem with the Homepod, and the problem is called Siri. Don't get me wrong, I'm an apple household, I have an iPhone, iPad, Watch annd sooner or later a Mac or MacBook Pro, but Siri on the HomePod is just not at the level where I would like it to be.Generally speaking i don't see the appeal of smart speakers anymore. Back in 2017 I bought myself the amazon echo and used it pritty much every day. i sold it last year though.I'm not the person who wants to talk to his devices and doesn't need the latest in AI answers as human department. I use siri for some tasks, but most of the time I operate the device by hand.Greetings Moritz.

Before I started reading this topic, my head was in that weird state where you feel as if a headache might or not be coming on. Well, that headache definitely is there now, and I feel exhausted and disappointed.But yes, that most certainly is MY fault. I chose to open this topic knowing it would be terrible. I chose to continue reading when I got proof it was, and even when it was clear it was starting to effect me.It is my fault because I could've also done ... almost anything else. I could've gone to read another topic. I could've opened Mastodon, where I have a nice set of filters for avoiding the topics that bring me the most stress. I could've watched some Youtube videos. I could've talked to people on Discord. I could've read a book. I could've ... I think you get the point.I'm not victim blaming here. When someone is actually abusing you, hurting you, manipulating you, what not, it is not your fault. But on a public forum, nobody is telling you what to read, what to respond to, how to react to it. And even if you do encounter something that effects you negatively by accident, you can control yourself. That's one of the things that makes us different from other animals, is it not? We don't just act by instinct, we can control ourselves.That's why, even though I'm not feeling all that good, I haven't written even a single fucking swear ... oh. Sorry. So yeah, Dan, I cannot agree with your opinion that it is other people's fault that they make you angry with their posts on a public, easily avoidable forum. I can see how it might feel like you're stuck here, because you don't know where else to go. But the internet is huge. Unimaginably so. If you do not feel well here, then I promise, somewhere there is a community of people made out of pure awesomeness that would fit you better -- at least if you don't then start drama there as well.I'm not saying you should leave -- though I must admit, the thought has crossed my mind, especially if you really believe it is not your responsibility to control yourself -- but if this place is really so bad for your mental health, perhaps a break might be wise. there are a couple players in here that are helpful, even thoough they are usually 2 or 3. Plus, @2, you  can usually gather scale for sewing from gremlins, etcetera, and you can find skeletens(make them by striping them of their meat I think) and crack them for some bone.You can mine metals and gemstones for forging armor, weaponry, etcetera, and use the gemstones to add some bonises to your armor or weaponryThe people might even help you gain materials, if they are around.

@54If you'd like an example of properties, look into [OpenAL PyLite], alot of the classes use them. Though there are a few applications, lets say you want to get and set the volume of a given sound, you can use two functions for getting and setting the sound individually. I'd just like to point out really quickly that the word "homophobia" is an example of the evolution of language.If you break it down, "homo" means "like" or "the same as", and "phobia" means "fear". It's true. But the meaning of the word now is very clearly a hatred, fear, mistrust or unreasoned prejudice of or toward homosexual people or actions. Language is ever evolving and changing, so trying to cite the original Greek or Latin roots of a word in order to attempt to render a term or label absurd is...well, calling it a deflection is kind, and calling it wilfully obtuse is only half of the story.Again, language evolves. The meaning of the word "homophobia" is now extremely clear in a cultural sense. You can argue with it, but while you're at it, you might as well argue that blue isn't even blue.I sympathize a great deal with those of you who are struggling more by being stuck in the house, or who have been forced to lose your livelihoods over this whole Covid situation. It can lead to all kinds of mental health struggles, and the hell of it is that they'll manifest differently for everyone. For me, it's a disruption of my sleep schedule, a desire to sleep more, a periodic lack of motivation and the sense that I'm reaching something of a breaking point when it comes to certain issues that I am simply not willing to soft-pedal. For others, it can look like all sorts of things. I can disagree with the things a person says all the way down to the ground, and I might even challenge those opinions loudly if I think there's a reason (and, let's be real, sometimes when there isn't a reason). But I care about people, and if there is some way I can help any of you, please let me know.

Before I started reading this topic, my head was in that weird state where you feel as if a headache might or might not be coming on. Well, that headache definitely is there now, and I feel exhausted and disappointed.But yes, that most certainly is MY fault. I chose to open this topic knowing it would be terrible. When someone is actually abusing you, hurting you, manipulating you, what not, it is not your fault. But on a public forum, nobody is telling you what to read, what to respond to, how to react to it. And even if you do encounter something that effects you negatively by accident, you can control yourself. That's one of the things that makes us different from other animals, is it not? We don't just act by instinct, we can control ourselves.That's why, even though I'm not feeling all that good, I haven't written even a single fucking swear ... oh. Sorry. So yeah, Dan, I cannot agree with your opinion that it is other people's fault that they make you angry with their posts on a public, easily avoidable forum. I can see how it might feel like you're stuck here, because you don't know where else to go. But the internet is huge. Unimaginably so. If you do not feel well here, then I promise, somewhere there is a community of people made out of pure awesomeness that would fit you better -- at least if you don't then start drama there as well.I'm not saying you should leave -- though I must admit, the thought has crossed my mind, especially if you really believe it is not your responsibility to control yourself -- but if this place is really so bad for your mental health, perhaps a break might be wise. Hi.I didn't know it would be free, but rereading this thread, I think you mentioned open source so that's good.I kind of get what you're doing now and am glad you've seamed to have calmed down since last year or whenever that web thing was made.Honestly that kind of annoys me a bit when devs try a screen reader, or app, then think I can't do thing x so obviously it can't be done by others. It can, it's just these people haven't been using the tools as long as we have I hope this tool works out for you and that we get to see some games using it in the future.Oh, BTW, sable already exists for RPGs for blind people, I'm just letting you know so that you know what's out there.

@haily_merry, That may or may not be very limited. I know you can select Portable within the installer, but you may have to do some exploring on your own TBH. If you do select Portable, I know you can obviously select any path like a memory stick or SDCard, so in theory, I suppose so. I don't know where the portable copy is going to search for the config, unless it's just in the same folder?

Part 2 of the Aurora tutorials with me and Zak are here.In this, we create an engine and build 2 geosurvey vessles and set them to scout.We were both a bit tired so it did not come out as well as it should, and yes ... you get to see different design philosophies in practice here.Zak starts very early with geosurvey while as it takes me several years and much better technology. I build larger vessles with longer range and more geosurvey sensors and a science department while as he builds them very cheap, small and expendable. @51 if you use like that. you will want to type all objects in each lines. instead if you create a constructor then it wood bee easy. you will use parameters to type the values.may bee you have to type more while creating classes. but if you dont type these much then you must type  tuns of lines every time you use that class. may bee your writing small function now but in future if you write big classes then it wood be so hard to write tuns of lines every time you use the class. so i recommend you to habituate with constructor and try to use parameters as much as you can.thankyou

Part 1/2 (Yes, this is long.)(Steve posts I'm drawing from: Naval Organization, Command & Control Rules, Admin Commands.)Commander SlotsThere's four ways for a commander can provide a bonus. From lowest rank to highest, they can be a ship's officer, a ship commander, a fleet commander, or an admin commander.• A ship's officer provides one skill at 100% effectiveness, depending on which position they hold. This always requires the appropriate command module (e.g., you can't have an Executive Officer on a ship unless the ship has an Auxiliary Control module).• A ship's commander provides all of their skills at 50% effectiveness. Every ship can have a commander.• A fleet commander provides 100% of their Reaction skill to the whole fleet. This requires a Flag Bridge module on at least one ship in the fleet. (If there is no Flag Bridge, there is no separate Fleet Commander slot. The senior ship commander in the fleet will be shown as fleet commander, but they will not provide a Reaction bonus to ships other than their own).• An admin command provides a different bonus depending what command type it is, and it provides that bonus to every fleet subordinate to it (directly or indirectly).Admin CommandsA ship can benefit from any number of admin commands, in principle. However, each admin command requires a higher-ranked officer than the commands under it, so you'll run out of officer ranks at some point.Unlike the other commander slots, admin commands require no ship modules. They're based on the Naval Headquarters buildings on your planets, instead. Any planet with NHQ buildings has a radius - the first NHQ gives you radius 1, then each time you double the number of NHQs, the radius increases by 1. So a planet with 2 NHQs can command two jumps out, 4 NHQs can command three jumps out, 8 NHQs can command four jumps out, and so on. Patrol and Survey commands double this radius, so a Patrol command based at a planet with 4 NHQ buildings will have a radius of 6, not 3.Training commands are a special type of command - ships in a Training command will gain skill much more rapidly, but they will also use much more fuel and supply that they otherwise would.You start the game with a top-level admin command, of type General, based on your homeworld. Unlike other admin commands, it cannot be deleted, but the type and host planet can be changed.An ExampleConsider the Survey skill, as an example, and how it applies to a basic survey ship with one basic survey sensor(strength=1) and a science department, surveying Alpha Centauri I.• Because the ship has a Science Department module, it can appoint a Science Officer. The Science Officer provides 100% of their bonus. Let's say Lieutenant Commander Reggie Redshirt has 25% Survey skill and gets this slot.• Every ship's commander gets to provide 50% of their bonus to everything (or 100% if no module exists). Because the Science module exists, it's 50% in this case. The commander is Commander Keen, and he has a 20% bonus. 20%*50% = 10%, so this gives a 10% bonus to the ship's Survey ability.• The ship is in a fleet of its own, so there's no fleet commander slot. Even if there was, it would provide no Survey bonus.• The first admin command over the ship is Alpha Centauri Survey Command(of type Survey, naturally), run by Captain Londo Mollari. Because it's a Survey command, it's 25%. Londo also has a 20% bonus, and 20%*25% = 5%, so this admin command provides a 5% bonus to the Survey skill of all ships in the admin.• The next admin command over that is Universal Survey Command(also of type Survey), run by the unfortunately named Commodore Sixty Four. She's a really good survey commander, with a 40% bonus, and again Survey commands give 25%. So 40%*25% = 10%, and she gives a 10% bonus to all ships in her admin.• Above Universal Survey Command is Exploration Command(of type Patrol), commanded by Rear Admiral William Adama. Because this is of type Patrol, it provides no survey bonus, so Adama's 5% survey bonus provides no bonus here. (His high Engineering skill does help them stay on station a bit longer, though)• Above that is Non-Combat Forces Command(of type Industrial). Like Adama, Vice Admiral Shannon Foraker cannot apply her Survey skill here, and her 10% is of no use. It does help keep our ships organized in a nice clean fashion, though, which is nice.• Finally, the top-level command for the whole navy is Terr

The only social media I have is reddit.I think you said you were alone in your house, man be thankful you have a house to be alone in. I'd love my own flat but it's impossible to get one in London and it will still be impossible after the virus clears up or whatever's going to happpen to this country.You could watch youtube, learn to cook a different dish if you have food items in your house, listen to podcasts, listen to the radio, read fan fiction, play an audiogame, read a book, I'm sure tehre's more but these are just the things I can think of.

Part 2 of the Aurora tutorials with me and Zak are here.In this, we create an engine and build 2 geosurvey vessles and set them to geosurvey sol.We were both a bit tired so it did not come out as well as it should, and yes ... you get to see different design philosophies in practice here.Zak starts very early with geosurvey while as it takes me several years and much better technology. I build larger vessles with longer range and more geosurvey sensors and a science department while as he builds them very cheap, small and expendable. Here's a funny story I would like to share with you guys, just a little thing behind the scenes. So some games don't have sound test modes, meaning to get all the sounds we have to actually play the game and get them to trigger. Such was the case with the Hyper Dash extreme. It took me about a week of playing level 3 over and over with six players to finally get this recording. Can anyone explain why when I set my default downloads to my external 4 terabyte drive my user content folder is in documents in a native instruments folder on my internal? Seems stuff works ok but that still seems weird to me.Also anybody have the labs presets and addictive drums ones as well? I can not seem to grab them from the dropbox despite it being a public folder. I am not a member as pro tools takes up all of my free account but I should still be able to view other folders if public, no?

I'm sure one of my early RPG attempts is still online somewhere. It had a weird system as regards turn-based Vs realtime (because it was made for IE6, mostly), and I did a very poor job of supporting new skills even though I knew I would need to from the beginning. What I did, though, was focus first and foremost on getting something playable, then rushing through major plot-points so a complete playthrough was technically possible (I think the only cheat I added was to let you set your inventory, but I might have forgotten something).Oh, and it's also the first time I did anything with positional audio, so that was fun. The enemy AI was pathetic but every now and then actually accomplished something. The item system was exceptionally silly, as I put items at fixed positions on the map, and picking one up removed it from the list, causing all the other items to teleport to different positions. And there were some poor design choices with the map that made navigating in certain areas confusing.Where was I going with this? Umm, the point is that this was about a year and a half after I'd really started learning programming, and I threw everything into arrays instead of classes, and it was a big mess, and it worked well enough to be playable anyway. I'm not sure what anyone else would learn from looking at the code, but I certainly learned things (like "don't move 80+ images in every frame if most of them are already off screen"  ).I'ma go try porting that to Python or something. It'd be nightmarish for BGT, but ... eh, maybe? I also "like" how porting it to Python feels more realistic than updating it to continue to work in _javascript_.

No, you don’t have to do this. Your approach creates a new player object every time. What you can do is this: me.x += 1 This will add one to the object of type player with   The name me.

i will explain you how it works. as you remember in __init__ function you declared self.x=xself.y=yself.z=zthis self means class it self. so on outside we will change me.x. but in class we are declaring inside it so we use self. so when you want to change it using externally you must call using class name instead of self. if you dint get at all, contact me by my skype and i will explain you.OK?thankyou.

So I am replaying this and one thing that struck me was that there are no character descriptions. Usually I don’t care, but now I’m bothered. It’s like, if you don’t notice it it doesn’t hurt you, but when you do, you can’t stop thinking about it.  I’m assuming they don’t appear in the sighted mode  either, correct?  Nevertheless, I’m sure that I’m not the first person to notice, or ask about this.  Have the developers answered questions of a similar nature? If so, what did they say?

I said very, very early on that I can stand a lot of heat. I'm more than willing to get stuck right in and take a kicking if that's what it takes. Sometimes this is good, because it means you can put me out front and I won't just blow up with the strain. Sometimes it's bad, because I don't take it sitting still and I'll eventually kick back, sometimes very hard.So what's the point, you ask? I don't like being quiet, even when tactically it might be wiser to do so. I'm working on that. But I believe in honesty, and I believe in standing up for what is right, both personally and for the forum. Sure, I could've thrown in the towel, but I truly believe that despite some mistakes - some far bigger than others - I'm doing a fair amount of good here. I'm by no means alone in this. The other staff members, and many individuals not on the staff team, are also doing a lot of good work here, so this isn't a glory-grabbing situation by any stretch. But I feel like I'm doing good, and I want to go on doing that, learning from it, admitting when I screw up, and generally just being a relatively stable presence. If it ever gets to a point where this place is taking too great a toll on my mental health, my overall happiness or my stability, though I will have to leave. We're not at that point yet; I have pretty thick skin. Until then, here I am.I'm definitely glad that this thread appears to have calmed down, and am only hoping that Dan is taking some time to mull over what he's gotten here.If anyone ever wants to have it out with me on a moderation decision but does not want to cause drama, feel free to shoot me a private message, and we'll chat about it. Defender has already taken me up on this at least twice, and while I can't promise I'll agree with you, I'll hear you out and will consider what you've said. Sometimes it will mean straight-up admitting I was wrong. Sometimes it'll mean me explaining - sometimes at greath length - why I disagree. Either way, my door is open, and I hope that goes for most of the rest of you when trouble hits.
