[Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Labels change during daily use
Running Ax3 SP4 KR3 I have a very annoying - and recurring - problem. We are running an Ax environment where the default language is Danish (da). If we print out external stuff like purchase orders, order confirmations etc. to foreign vendors/customers, the language selected for those vendors/customers are of course used, so that English vendors receive printouts with en-gb as language, German customers receive printouts with de as language etc. This is normal Ax behaviour. However, sometimes - 2-3 times a week - all printouts are in Danish - no matter what language the purchase orders, order confirmations etc. are setup with. And of course - this does not look good... :-( The only solution is to close down all 3 Ax object servers and restart them again. Then it works - for a while... I am a little curious as to what causes this strange behaviour. I was wondering if anyone else has encountered this? Best Regards, /Jens
RE: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Labels change during daily use
Thanks Kim, Too bad about the not supported part ... I have a feeling that the error was introduced 6 months ago where we introduced a new partner module - and thereby new labels. Of course - I cannot verify this, since we use the module on a daily basis. Could you shed some light on the root cause in AX 4.0 - assuming that it is/was the same cause in AX 3.0? [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Label index problem
I have recently experienced situations where labels are not getting translated on reports for other languages (en-gb, en-us, de etc.). Instead, the labels are displayed using the default language; in this case da. During the last week or so we have experienced this problem, where reports all of a sudden display incorrectly - although they have worked properly during, let's say, several hours during the day. The solution - however not that great - has been to shut down all AOS instances, delete the .ali files and restart AOS. Actually, I would normally also delete the .aoi and the .udb files, before I would start the application in 2-tier mode, thus creating a fresh .aoi file. After that, AOS start. Any input, solutions, causes to this? /Jens Ax3.0 SP4 with KR3 running Citrix on SQL2005.

[Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Using/copying DAT company account
Hello there, Our Ax application (Ax3SP4) holds 20 different company accounts. During the initial installation the data for the first company was placed in DAT, while all subsequent companies were placed in separate accounts, eg. But - I was wondering if any of you guys could see any challenges in this approach, since the DAT company account is also used to hold other, non per-user tables and features like users, access etc. Any pointers or experience shared will be much appreciated. [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Data Upgrade problem (Ax3SP4 -- Ax2009)

I guess that the error message is slightly wrong; I suspect other issues to be the cause. Anyone with experience with this - and hopefully either an explanation or a work around ? Thanks. /Jens

If you open the EmplTable form definition in the AOT and notice the tables that are joined. Then look at these table definitions in the AOT to see what unique indexes are defined in AX 2009. Then check uniqueness of the index in the tables in SQL Server. You may need to remove duplicates for the upgrade. For example, in AX 2009, there is a global address book that is cross company. If there is a company copy in the database that you are upgrading, then the employee table in AX 3 would have duplicate entries. The global address book may be unable to add the duplicate entries. When I did an upgrade, I did the data upgrade on a single company. I made a backup and deleted the non-essential companies and I was able to avoid this problem. If all companies are essential, and employees are duplicated across companies, you may need to get help from Microsoft regarding how to handle the duplicate entries. Thanks for your input. Your solution works... It turned out that I was actually mistaken, since my test was executed on a pre SQL2005 ... I was not aware of that until later. Actually, the code below works just fine with a SQL2005; the only bit that needed changing was DataAreaId, which should be changed into upper case, ie. RE: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Excel templates for Uploading opening Stock
Hello there, There is another trick that you could use ... :-) Do not load records directly into InventTrans, since this table is one of the key tables in Ax. Instead, during quite a lot of implementations, I simply load data into InventJournalTable and InventJournalTrans. Once the data is in the journal, you simply use the built-in function to copy a journal. Once the journal is copied, the corresponding journal lines are now updated in such a way that you will be able to book the journal without problems. I use the same approach when importing sales orders/lines and purchase orders/lines. I simply import them as journals, after which I let Ax handle the rest when changing order type from Journal to Sales Order / Purchase Order. Hope this helps. /Jens _ From: Axapta-Knowledge-Village@yahoogroups.com [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of madhubabu_r Sent: Sunday, October 07, 2007 2:26 PM To: Axapta-Knowledge-Village@yahoogroups.com Subject: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Re: Excel templates for Uploading opening Stock Hi Ashwani, Thanks for such a detailed information which would be useful to all our fellow implementors. At the time of creation of record in journal lines (Inventory journal Trans), system automatically search for inventdim and if not found, then create a new record in InventDim, else allocate the available one on the InventJournalTrans. After the creation of new record in InventDim, same numbr is allcoated to respective transaction based on Dimension combination. Different inventJournalTrans lines can have same inventDim id. So in addition to above two tables, you have to import another third table InventDim. Now the question arises, how to pick / define the correct InventDim in the import file in Table InventJournalTrans, as this table does not have Dimensions (config, color, size, warehouse, location etc...) Because system allocates, this on the basis of unique combination of dimension, so in excel using concatenate formula, create a new column and put formula in that to get value. Now there must be unique values in this field (refer above bold sentence). Filter out the duplicates, and now you should have single record of each type. Take the current data of InventDim table to Excel by copy paste. Do same concatenate column in this worksheet also in excel. now using the Vlookup formula of Excel, check in earlier inventdim, what is the inventdim of those records. you will find some records / rows in excel where you will not get any inventdim. Take those records in new worksheet for import in inventdim. When you import these records, system will create the inventdim id for those records. Put these new alocated number along with the previous that you find in the InventJournalTrans. Now you can import InventJournal and InventJournalTran Tables. After importing them, ensure that all lines will be having inventdim id and cross validate for the dimensions (config, color, size, warehouse, location etc...) in them for 5 - 10 records. If found satisfactory, then you just have to click the Post button. System will post the same in inventTrans and inventsum, to update the inventory. We should not have to import the records in InventTrans / InventSum, because these tables are the heart of Dynamics Ax, which may later on result in malfunctioning of the system. This whole lenghty explaination appears to be difficult / complicated, but once you do it, you will find it as the easiest and quicker exercise. RE: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Huge CostAmountValue...
Hi there, Thanks. Well, actually we cannot run a Recalc, since the value is too high for the DB to swallow. So currently I think that I will just clear the value in InventTrans and InventSum. However, as a result of failed Recalc's we also have transactions in the table InventSettlement, which our Oracle DB does not like either. It seems that Ax is really trying to fix things during Recalc, but the values are just too high to handle. We have only 8-9 transactions for that item number, so it is rather easy to overview. Any pointers as to clearing the large values in InventSettlement as well - since they sum up a fine 0 anyways ... ? /Jens _ From: Axapta-Knowledge-Village@yahoogroups.com [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Allen Joseph Sent: Friday, March 09, 2007 1:09 PM To: Axapta-Knowledge-Village@yahoogroups.com Subject: Re: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Huge CostAmountValue... [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Problem with ProdPickList
Hello there, If I print the report ProdPickList, the field wmsLocationId gets cut off, so that the last character of that field does not show. It seems that I am not able to adjust the width of the wmsLocationId in the report. No matter what changes I made to the field properties, the width is apparently fixed to 10 characters (which should be fine, but with some capital letters in the wmsLocationID we run out of space). [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Month display in dates
Hello there, I am trying to achieve, that a certain date should be displayed in a way that it can't be mis-interpreted. Example from the report PurchPurchOrder : The delivery date 12-05-2007 could be perceived as May 12 by some, December 05 by others. In order to fix this, I changed the DateMonth property to always display the month with the first 3 characters. This works just fine; with the example above 12-May-2007 is printed. However, Axapta does not consider the language setup for the purchase order. If we select Danish, it should read 12-Maj-2007. German would probably read 12-Mai-2007. But it always prints the month in the same language as the system setup. Is this a bug - and if so: Any workarounds ? Thanks in advance. This will happen if - after the coverage plan has been run - you have planned orders for a given item, while at the same time have an existing purchase order for the same item, that Axapta will suggest to increase in qty. Let's say that you have a purchase order of 100 pcs, while you have a planned purchase order of 50 pcs. If setup properly, Axapta will suggest that you cancel the planned purchase and increase the the current purchase order by 50, so that you end up with 150 pcs. You will then see an action to increase the current PO, while cancelling the planned order. Just remember, that you will also have to consider positive and negative days. RE: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Re: import data to Counting journal
Hello, Well, you could tweak the logic a bit. When we implemented Axapta in one of our companies we had to import opening balances per item. This was done through the standard import functionality of Axapta. Now, in order to get things right we simply copied the imported journal to another journal - thereby allowing Axapta to take care of the InventTrans logic. After that we deleted the imported journal, posted the copied journal and we were just fine. This is probably not documented - but it works every time. We did this for 20-25 journals with 1.000 lines in each. Hope this helps. /Jens Hi I have imported records to counting journal (inventJournalTrans) by use of Axapta standard import functionality. The imported records looks good. But each record in the counting journal should create a invent movement - create an inventTrans record. That doesn't happen! I have looked at the Counting form and tried to execute the code on the modified method on item id and Counted field plus the table update method - these methods usually creates an update invent movement. Nothing happens! Do you have any idea of how I can update this programmically, I would appriciate a suggestion - I have approx. 30.000 records and I don't look forward to enter them manually into the journal :-) Regards Irving Sharing the knowledge on Axapta. RE: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] ZipCodeLookup
Hello Brandon, Correct me if I'm wrong, but if there are 2 identical Zip Codes then this must be a data entry error, right ? Normally, we would enter the zip code as DK-9530, DE-1234 or SE-56789, so we wouldn't get into a duplicate key situation. Do you know of any countries that allow duplicate zip codes ? /Jens -Oprindelig meddelelse- Fra: Axapta-Knowledge-Village@yahoogroups.com [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] vegne af Brandon George Sendt: 28. februar 2006 21:56 Til: Axapta-Knowledge-Village@yahoogroups.com Emne: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] ZipCodeLookup Hello Everyone, Does anyone know the fix for the ZipCodeLookup form, where when there are two or more Zip codes with the same zip, then the lookup code for the following method: public void closeSelect(str _selectString) { if (callerAddressMap) { callerAddressMap.AddressMap::initFromZipCode(zipCode); } super(_selectString); } For some reason does not set the City, States, etc. based on the ZipCode table. We have added a new field to the batch group table containing number of days that the batch will be valid. We are picking up this value when batch numbers are issued. Hope this helps. /Jens I am st SP4. I create batch numbers and no matter what there is an expiration date that gets populated which is always = the Manufacturing Date = current system date. Hello Hardi, No, it will not do any damage. [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] How to set financial date ?
Hello there, Something strange has happened in our live environment, Axapta 3.0 SP3. A given purchase order contains one purchase line, which is marked as Invoiced. We have received a qty of X, and invoiced the same qty. However, if you go to Stock / Transactions you will notice that two of the transactions are marked as Receipt = Received and Issue = Deducted. In other words, these lines have no financial date... So: I have an invoiced purchase order, where some of the underlying purchase lines are not financially updated. 1. How can this happen ? 2. How can I financially update the two lines, that are still only physically updated ? I have tried to receive an additional qty of 1, but this will not trigger any changes to the purchase lines in question. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I don't believe this is a bug... Think of this situation, item A and Item B, both have transactions against them. According to Axapta there is nothing on hand for A, and 5 for B. However, there is some A in on-hand in the real warehouse (i.e. the original stock count was incorrect or the wrong batch number was sold). If the journal does not contain item A, then the user will not count item A, and then you would loose control of item A i.e. theft I hope I am making sense... [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Persmissions in Axapta, bug ?
Hello there, I have stumbled into a possible bug, when I am assigning user group permissions within a specific area. We have been able to reproduce the error in all our 3 Axapta environments, and it could be interesting to see, if someone can do the same. We are running Axapta 3.0 SP3. 1. Create a new user 2. Create a new user group 3. Give the user group permission to something in the production menu, e.g. Route. 4. Log on as the new user If I am correct in my assumption, the user cannot access anything; no menu is opened. Axapta cannot - to the best of my knowledge - see, that certain permissions in the production module have been granted. The supposed bug may be further visualized, if you view the security tree based on Main menu. Here you will, once you have granted permissions i for example Sales Ledger or Purchase Ledger, experience that the menu changes to bold. If you choose something within the Production menu, the menu will not change appearance. Can anyone of you reproduce this ? Any feedback will be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance ! /Jens Yahoo! [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Picking list journals for several productions
Hello there, I was wondering if Axapta has an option to register picking list consumption across work orders ? Currently, as I see it, you must use one journal per works order, i.e. you lookup the production, create a pick list journal, goto Lines and add the item. This must be performed for every production. I am looking for an option to enter all information in one form - with production info on each line, after which Axapta would generate pick list journals for each production. Is this an option already (can't find it, though) ? Best Regards, Jens Yahoo! Groups Sponsor ~-- Get fast access to your favorite Yahoo! Groups. [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] WinAPI - wait for completion
Hello there, I am looking for a few pointers. From Axapta (AX30SP3) I browse through certain vendors. For each vendor, I need to generate an Excel sheet. I do this by WinAPI::shellExecute(_ExcelFileToRun) where the Excel file is a valid file with macros that will eventually generate another spreadsheet and send this to the vendor. Now, how do I make Axapta wait, so that it will not go to the next vendor, before the first one is completed (i.e. Excel sheet has to be done and sent). I have been looking for WinAPI::waitForSingleObject but I cannot make it do what I have expected it to do - or I just don't understand ... :-) Any hints would be greatly appreaciated. RE: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Add same information in 2 different company accounts
Thanks for your input. We are actually using virtual companies a lot. However, currently we do not share InventTable, and we might want to do that. I know that a lot of auxillary tables should be shared as well, but the specific issue is that if you share InventTable between company A and B and add a new item in company A, this will only populate InventTableModule in company A, not in company B. We need to keep InventTableModule "local" due to prices, since one company is located in Europe (EUR) and another in Asia (THB). So, I am looking for a code sample to "copy" newly added tableinformation in one company to another company. In case (in table inventTrans) you are using the Index StatusItemIdx then you need to include in your select statement first statusReceipt, then StatusIssue, then ItemId and then DateStatus. If you dont want to use any of these in the select statement then you can exclude it but have it in a proper order. This is the reason we see multiple Indexes created on the table (take ex InventTrans). The ItemIdx should be used when you are going to have Item first in the index. Take another example of SalesLine. If you are making a search by SalesId and SalesStatus we use SalesStatusIdx (see the method calcCreditBalance in the salesLine table and see the order of fields used in the statement). Also should consider no of times the record/combination of records are available. If we see the find methods we usually see that the index used is the one which is unique or least nos of lines. This is also because there would be only one/least record with the combination. Ex; SalesLine table SalesLineIdx. May be all my assumptions/findings may not be right. but we are here to learn. cheers, Girish --- Harry (Harshawardhan Deshpande [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: hi 1. the order of where clause statement is not important 2. And therfore replace in my select using datefinancial with datastatus... Part of my select originally would be (basically the std select to calc cost for an custinvoicetrans but with date range added): inventTrans.dateFinancial = _runStart inventTrans.dateFinancial = _runEnd inventTrans.ItemId == 'ABC' inventTrans.qty != 0 inventTrans.packingSlipReturned == 0 inventTrans.statusReceipt = StatusReceipt::Purchased

RE: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Max Journal lines
Title: Message James, How did you import - and from what ? Did you just use *.dat / *.def files ? If so, you might have problems posting, since some values in the journal lines could be "not initialised". We solved this problem by actually 1) importing from external files, 2) copying each journal into a new one (using the Function / Copy"), 3) posting the new one, 4) deleting the original journal. This worked just fine... /Jens -Oprindelig meddelelse-Fra: Axapta-Knowledge-Village@yahoogroups.com [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]På vegne af James FlavellSendt: 18. august 2005 08:46Til: Axapta-Knowledge-Village@yahoogroups.comEmne: RE: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Max Journal lines Thanks Jens that will help me alot It seems I have inventory journal of 7000+ that managed to import to journal but not tried posting yet... I think I remember seeing a posting long ago but cannot find it... It seems I have v3.0 SP2 and some XPO imported do not have all the properties set (such as alignment), this is of course a very serious problem if we cannot trust an XPO is imported 'fully' and so I need to get to the bottom of this. I know there has been alot of posting aboutimport with and without ID, is this likely to have any effect? Thanks James Sharing the knowledge on Axapta. YAHOO! RE: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Re: Master Scheduling: Error Messages
Exactly. Just create a small job that runs through all BOM lines and lookup each itemid. RE: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Adding a new inventory dimension to Axapta

To the best of my knowledge you cannot add another inventory dimension without making a lot of changes to the application. Personally, I would not do that. I would appreciate if anyone can help me find this document (if it exists) or adivse from your experience of what needs to be done and how long it might take and how riskysuch a modification is. I had already set the entire Development node in the permissions tree to No access, so that isn't it. I also followed the advice from another reader to turn off the configuration key Advanced Forms Customization in System Configuration, which should prevent everybody from making changes, but this also seems to be ignored by Axapta - this may be a bug. [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Copy BOM
Hello there, This is a question for the clever guys among us ... :-) How/where do youI tell Axapta NOT to assign new linenumbers, when you copy from one BOM to another ? Example: The From BOM contains 3 lines, numbered 5,10,15 (they are all converted / imported from another system). After you have done your copying, the To BOM (naturally) has 3 identical lines, but they are now numbered 1,2,3. The reason for my question is, that we keep additional information per BOM line, where (BomId + ItemId + LineNum) is the key. During BOM copy, this information is copied as well, but after copying the line numbers have changed, so that we cannot retrieve the specific information. Any hints ? Thanks in advance !
