Re: cannot create vlan in a VTP server

2000-10-31 Thread Frank B.

Here's how I understand it...but I'm not quite a Catalyst expert. By
default a Cat is in VTP server mode (ther are 3 modes: server,
transparent and client) Before you can set-up any VLANS you have to
place the VTP server within a VTP domain. If you type the command "set
vtp ?" you'll get a bunch of options and switches available...but you
must at least set the domain name before you can create VLANs. Hope
this helps, Frank

Novell servers - rconsole list keeps changing

2000-10-31 Thread Andrew Larkins

Hi all,

My client has recently upgraded some of the Novell servers to version 5.
These are IP capapble and do not use IPX any more. Does anyone have an idea
how to see these servers, like "sho ipx serv" or reset by "clear ipx route
*" ??? The reason for this is that from rconsole, the list of servers keeps
changing - no problem with the IPX side of things.
IP and IPX is being redistribute across the WAN using EIGRP

Thanks in advance

You need to first assign a VTP Management Domain name to the switch, using
the "set VTP domain" command. This will then allow you to assign VLANs,

Issue the command "set vtp ?" at the CLI for more info., as there are
additional options covering switch VTP mode, VTP Version, VTP message
passwords and VTP pruning which may be of interest.

/WILD_SPECULATION ON:
I presume a domain name is required FIRST because VTP Summary Advertisement
messages contain both VLAN information and the VTP Management Domain name.
If you configure VLANs without having the Management Domain name set, the
VTP can't advertise/synchronise VTP information with other trunk connected
switches. Anyone know for certain why?

Hope this helps,

Passed BCRAN was RE: Recommended Books for BCMSN & BCRAN

2000-10-31 Thread Jon . E . Gudmundsson

Take a look at the archives about BCMSN. There was a message from me 2
months ago about BCMSN books.
I passed BCRAN yesterday and here are the studymaterial that I used:
Books:
- Building Cisco Remote access Networks by Pacquet et al. Cisco press. It is
good to have for the exam bechause it is based on the BCRAN course and it
helps you to consentrate on the right subjects.
- BCRAN Building Cisco Remote access networks by Tom Thomas II.Macraw Hill
It is an excellent book and much better than his BCMSN book. It explains
everything in details.
- Cisco IOS 12.0 Dial solutions. Cisco Press. This book contains everything
about dial up networking. I am definetly going to read it again for the
CCIE.
- Remote Access Exam Cram. It was not as good as the Exam Cram for the BCMSN
Other materials
-Papers from www.cisco.com
- Cramsession from www.cramsession.com. It was excellent paper to brush up
few hours for the exam and much better than the cramsession paper for BCMSN.
- Experience. On the job experience. I could set up a lab with 1 3620 one
800, 2500 and 2600 to play with.
Hope this can help somebody on the list

Integrate Datacraft and Cisco Routers

2000-10-31 Thread tselvan

Dear friends,

I am in a Project with Telecom people.

They are using Datacraft Routers for point to point
Leased links between Telecom exchanges.
As Datacraft routers (a product from Australians)
are obsolete, now they want to integrate with cisco 2610 routers.

Now they want to use Datacraft router at one point
and Cisco 2610 router at the other point, in a leased line.
They were using PLP protocol like PPP protocol that
we use in Cisco products for leased links.

They assign One IP address as single entity
for  One Datacraft router and this router has 3 WANPorts. For each WAN port
they assign a Port number which is a 5 digit number.

I would like to know if i enable CDP protocol
will that help me.
Help me in this regard

BSCN Exam

2000-10-31 Thread WKelly

Passed Routing 2.0 today, thanks in part to info I got from the
questions on this site.

If your prepping for this; know BGP and EIGRP theory & focus on the
syntax of the set and show commands. You need to know the command syntax
and also the console prompt it should be entered from. You should also
be familiar with interpreting the effects of such commands when
presented with a few lines of config

Good luck.

Re: Novell servers - rconsole list keeps changing

2000-10-31 Thread WKelly

If the Novell servers are 5.x using Pure IP, [no IPX] then you would need to load the
SCMD module to get a virtual IPX stack on the server. This module has different
switches
on the command line, depending on whether it is connected to an IP/IPX/Both segment.
This should match the servers in the other segments. "Display Servers" on the console
is
an IPX application - basically it will use SCMD to get the info it needs to display. If
all the servers are not running scmd then they will not all appear in the console
output. Novell's Appnotes are available freee on the website and discuss the design and
operation of SCMD, and SLP.

Also, for global visibility you should probably be implementing SLP with a Directory
Agent [DA]. The DA registers the services available for a configurable, given part of
the network. You run the DA on one server with other local servers pointing to it [use
slp.cfg in the sys:etc directory]. A DA can register services for itself, or for a
subnetwork. When you issue the Display SLP services command you should see a list of
servers and services that server knows about.

SCMD and SLP work to eliminate IPX RIP and SAP traffic. Previously, Netware advertised
all available services. In NW5, using SCMD and SLP, services must be requested. As
usual
with Novell, this is very configurable - which means you can get better control of the
network traffic, and into a lot of grief very quickly if you don't understand it. :-)
The Appnotes will give you what you need to get it running.

W Kelly

RE: Wireless LANS

2000-10-31 Thread Stanfield Hilman B (Brad) CONT NNSY

11Mb is only available within close proximity to the Access Point. As you
move away from it your speed drops off at specified levels - 11Mb -> 4Mb ->
2Mb -> 1Mb. High density placement of Access Points are required to maintain
11Mb. throughout a given area.
There's this company that bought a really nice wireless company with an
excellent product line called Aironet? (Now, Cisco Aironet), and they have
lots of literature on wireless and the 802.11 Standard.
Most of the systems have on board encryption per the 802.11 Standard called
WEP, Wireless Equivalent Privacy (56 bit DES), and they are working on an
upgrade to triple DES. Also, there are products that provide a software
piece for your remote device and a hardware component for the wired portion
of the LAN that provide FIPS certified encryption for the airwave link.
(TimeStep VPNS offer the best FIPS certified one so far.)

The biggest thing to remember is that every time you add an Access Point to
your LAN, you've added an open air antenna that is accessible by anyone. Not
necessarily able to enter the network automatically, but a potential point
for exploitation.
That's why my answer was Security. You have to know what your
vulnerabilities are, the type of data you deal with, and the level of risk
you are willing to assume.
All of the answers so far have some validity. There are places that wireless
is the proper solution and other places that it isn't. Also, All wireless
LANs of any size will have a wired infrastructure, so the only completely
wireless network is going to be small.

Seriously, high-bandwidth wireless applications will become more popular.
Bandwidth is like closet space. There's never enough of it.

SNMP Traps

2000-10-31 Thread Austin

Can one configure SNMP trap data to go to 2 different monitoring locations
simultaneously?
If the main NOC is in NYC and the colocation is in San Jose and the main NOC
goes down, can San Jose still get SNMP trap data?
Any references on CCO will be helpful.

STP question

2000-10-31 Thread Emil

Hello

I'm a little bit confused about STP calculation process
I know that switches sends BDPU frames to a special multicast address "to
all bridges". What is it?
And next question?
Are these messages sent only to next bridge - I mean if the neighbour bridge
receive multicast BDPU frame is that sent to next bridges or the bridge is
looking to this BDPu and comparing it to its own.

Hi all

Should I shelve ATM studies?

I was right on the edge of starting a study of ATM. I even have ATM
switches, LANE modules. Is this worth pursuing or is this "icebox about to
be superceded by something else". The assumption is time is not elastic,
that we could put our energies into something else - sleep, family, things

Selvan,

This router is most likely being authenticated by a
TACACS or RADIUS box.  Try to locate the authentication server and reset
the name and password.  Other than that you'll need to breat into the
router via a console connection, and then reset the boot registers.

Hope this helps.

2000-10-31 Thread Chuck Church

Based on the amount of voice/multiservice on the written, it looks like
AVVID will be plentiful on the lab. That, and the fact that Cisco wants us,
as a reseller, to really push IP telephony. I just hope this doesn't make
the CCIE "easier" to obtain. I'd rather have to take it twice than having
it become easy enough so that most people pass it the first time. My MCSE
(which I got in '96 when it was harder) is so easy to get these days, it's
ridiculous. (Please no flames from those who just got their MCSEs) I'd
just rather see it remain the high-paying, hard to obtain cert that it is.

Re: SNMP Traps

2000-10-31 Thread AWTroxell

>From Austin to Austin;

Once you enable SNMP traps ("snmp-server community public RO"), these
messages go out on the wire for any monitoring station to read. As an
example, I've set up a new NOC at my current contract that will use both HP
Openview and Compaq Insight Manager. With snmp enabled on the routers and
servers, I can monitor all of my "essential" nodes with BOTH stations.

BTW: For Novell servers running NetWare 4.11 and up, you specify the trap
destination(s) in INETCFG.

A sample Cisco router config is:
"
snmp-server engineID local xzxzxzxzxzxzxzxzxzxxzzxzxx
snmp-server community public RO
snmp-server community xxx RW
snmp-server enable traps snmp
snmp-server enable traps config
snmp-server enable traps entity
snmp-server enable traps bgp
snmp-server enable traps frame-relay
snmp-server enable traps rtr
snmp-server enable traps dlsw"

Re: Novell servers - rconsole list keeps changing

2000-10-31 Thread Keith Townsend

If what you want to accomplish is see the same list in rconsole all the time
the easy thing to do is to use Rconsole for NDS. It reads the information
in NDS instead of a SAP list.

If you want to continue use "Display servers" then you should follow the
directions WKelly gave. But if you are trying to move to a pure IP
environment use Rconsole for NDS is much more stable in a NetWare 5
environment.

R&S lab - ATM gone?

All,

I'm a little curious about them taking ATM LANE off the lab. Why didn't
they just say ATM? Is ATM without the LAN emulation supported on any Cisco
devices that are part of the lab? I know they don't require you to set up
ATM switching, but is it used in native mode on any of the AVVID products?

RE: O/T Digital Cross Connect

2000-10-31 Thread Munoz, Michael

For the first question:

Digital cross-connect systems (DCSs) have been used for several years to
manage the digital DS0, DS1, and DS3 channels between switches--the
intermachine trunks. Digital cross-connect systems provide a termination
point for backbone trunks in the local and long distance network. A variety
of DCS products can terminate DS1 and/or DS3 trunks, copper or fiber, and
cross-connect channels within them. Through this cross-connect arrangement,
end-to-end circuits can be established at speeds ranging from 2.4 Kbps to
44.736 Mbps. Using manual reconfiguration commands, circuits can be rerouted
by establishing new cross-connect paths at one or more local or remote DCSs.

DCSs are planned for deployment in the local loop to provide the same
level of control for customer access circuits. In this case, customer access
circuits would terminate on a central office DCS where individual data,
voice, or video paths would be cross-connected to the appropriate local
service equipment or intermachine trunk.
DCS provides centralized operations, administration, management, and
provisioning capabilities to the carrier. This includes facility and
performance monitoring, loopback testing, and alarm generation and
processing.

Once a circuit is defined via cross-connected channels, the DCS is
transparent to data flow. The DCS can be considered an electronic version of
a manual patch panel. The DCS also can support a dual path capability
between two DCSs. These self-healing services all function in the same
manner. When a DS3, for example, enters a DCS, the signals it carries can be
sent out on two separate transmission paths to their destination. At the
destination DCS, the best signal is selected for delivery to the customer. A
failure in one path will generate alarms, allowing repair and restoration to
occur while customer service continues uninterrupted on the other path.

There were 3 buildings involved, each seperated by about 150 m. One of
the other committee members worked for Lucent and we were able to get a
WaveLAN installation at a good price (cheaper than a cable run, we paid cost
for the hardware and the Lucent technician who did the actual installation
volunteered his time). The system is 'rated' for 11 MBps, but the actual
throughput is closer to 3-4. This is not a problem for this situation, but
I could see where it might be for some others. Our internet connection is
directly to the school building, so the student/teacher traffic, which puts
the mosts traffic on the system, does not even hit the wireless segment.
For the parish priests and administrative staff in the rectory, the speed of
the wireless link has not been an issue.

In my day job, I work for a small private investment firm, and if we told
one of the traders or analysts or partners that we were putting then on a
shared 11 MBps segment, they would freak out, whether they needed more
bandwith or not.

Also, from my experience actual throughput is much less than 11 MB. I've
been lucky enough to test the Cisco Aironet, Compaq, and RadioLan offerings.
The RadioLan wireless has the best actual throughput, but they don't conform
to the 802.11 specification, operating at the 5.8Ghz range as opposed to the
2.4Ghz standard. The Cisco Aironet series drivers stink for win2000, and NT,
with many little issues, but I'm sure they'll improve them since Aironet was
just bought by Cisco. We use the RadioLan stuff in production, but we'll
move to the Cisco Aironet around the first of the year, as soon as Cisco can
catch up on orders. I hear that the Lucent offerings are

Just make sure to use encryption. And I would agree with most that the
wireless has its uses, but won't replace wired LANS for a while.

Something to note, the 11MB is shared by all users of the base station, they
don't each get 11MB.

Hey Austin,

Thanks for the post ... but I do not see the snmp-server host command ...
so on all routers it should be snmp-server host 192.168.3.1
   snmp-server host 192.168.4.1

.3.1 and .4.1 being NYC and San Jose respectively?

router lab equipment

2000-10-31 Thread Lopez, Robert

Hello Group,

The following is a list of used equipment that I was thinking about
purchasing for about $8000. Is it worth it? Thanks!!

This is everything you need to study at home for your CCIE. As you know,
CCIE's are worth well over 6 figures these days; this equipment pays for
itself and it retains its resale value, so you can use this to prepare for
the CCIE Lab exam and then sell this equipment to a friend who is the next
to conquer the CCIE!!!
Three (3) Cisco 2501
One (1) Cisco 2511 (Async)
One (1) Cisco 2513 (Token Ring)
Cisco 4500M (4 serial ports)
(This operates as your frame relay switch I the middle of your CCIE Lab Gig)
Three (3) BayNetworks 10-BaseT Hubs!
HP 10:10 LAN BridgeMB (RMON Probes)!!
Motorola Model DA-56
Three MicroMMAC-24T 24-port Token Ring Hubs!!!

Lantronix ETS8P
Intel Netport Express XL Token Ring Print Server (While I doubt you will get
much practical use out of this old dog, you use it as a Token Ring Node so
that you can verify connectivity when working your 802.2)
IBM PCMCIA Token Ring network card (hard to find!)
Miscellaneous Cisco serial cables (about a dozen)
Miscellaneous fiber optic cables (about half-dozen)
Some Ortronics Velcro cable ties Power cords
Miscellaneous Cisco documentation (Your choice if you want to pay for
shipping these things)

I just passed the BSCN following the CCNP track to prepare for the CCIE.
What is the recommended test to take next? What is the most difficult test
of the CCNP track? What is the easiest?

Besides TR, are there any points I need to stress along with the CCNP track
to prepare for the CCIE?

Thanks,

Re: Subnetting questions

2000-10-31 Thread Donald B Johnson Jr

If there are 16 hosts then you would have to use the corect subnet. 224 is
the same whether it is a routed network or not because a 240 will only
support 14 hosts and a 192 will support 62 hosts but that is a waste of
space. a 224 will supply 30 addresses plenty for 16 hosts, routers and
expansion.
The test will see if you know how to subnet it should be clear how many
interfaces there are.

RE: Check what's new on CCIE R/S Webpage, right now! Shelve ATM studies?

2000-10-31 Thread Craig Johnson

This is very cool, IMHO. I have always been a little fuzzy on LANE, and my
Decnet knowledge isn't where it should be. (I take the Lab on December 13 in
San Jose). It's also good to know that if I happen to fail the first time,
I can wait until after February and not worry about Appletalk (even though
my appletalk knowledge is very good). For those who haven't seen the page,
here is an excerpt:

Effective immediately, the following topics have been removed from the lab
exam content:

LAT
DECnet
Apollo
Banyan VINES
ISO CLNS
XNS
ATM LANE
X.25

Effective February 1, 2001, the following topic will be removed from the lab
exam content:

Appletalk

NOTE: These changes only affect the Routing and Switching Lab exam.
Some of the test topics may continue to appear on the Routing and Switching
Written exam. Readers are advised to consult the Content Blueprint for the
Routing and Switching Written exam for a detailed list of topics tested on
the written exam.

Hi all

Should I shelve ATM studies?

I was right on the edge of starting a study of ATM. I even have ATM
switches, LANE modules. Is this worth pursuing or is this "icebox about to
be superceded by something else". The assumption is time is not elastic,
that we could put our energies into something else - sleep, family, things
normal people do.

Some Networking Study tips

2000-10-31 Thread Chuck Larrieu

I came across the following approach while preparing for my CCIE written.
Both BOSON and CertificationZone practice tests used questions centered
around this approach, and I found it useful in studying protocol behavior.

Draw out an environment kinda like the following:

Hostmediumdevice---mediumdevicemediumdevice-
-medium-host

Medium = ethernet, token ring, FDDI, frame relay, T1, OC3, ATM
Device = router, bridge, switch

Put as many media segments and devices as you want
Data needs to go from host to host. Substitute in various specifics for
medium and device.
Ask yourself what protocols have to be in place, and where.
Ask yourself about source and destination MACs from various places within
the chain.
Ask yourself about source and destination Ips
If the media on either side of a device is token ring, for example, what can
the device be?
If one side is ethernet and the other FDDI, what can the device be?

I'm sure you all can come up with even more complications and examples.

For even more fun, make the drawing three dimensional ( multiple devices
hanging off the various media segments )

You can have a lot of fun with this, and also practice visualizing what
happens as data is moved from here to there. As I said, I saw examples like
this from both BOSON and CertZone, and I found it useful in practicing
protocol behavior recognition.

however, the two routers can not ping each other.

Is there something like " ip ospf network point-to-multipoint" for this

HSRP priority bug???

2000-10-31 Thread NeoLink2000

Hey Group,
Got an issue for you. I am faced with a dilemma here. We have a client
who is about to make us upgrade about 100 IOS's to fix this issue and I just
want to know if there is another way around it. We have a site with 2
redundant routers. HSRP is configured between them. The modle is Cisco
2612(Token/Ether) when we configure HSRP with a priority of 100 on the
secondary router and 105 on the primary both of them get stuck in INIT. The
rest of the network uses these settings and everything is nice and dandy.
When we go onto these devices and try to set the priority to 100, HSRP does
not work!?!? If we set it to 105, 110, 115, etc. it will work just fine but
for some reason it will not except 100. Has anybody ever dealt with this
problem or know how to fix it? I would really appreciate it if somebody could
help us out or it looks like we will be working nights here if you know what
I mean. Thanks in advance all...

Don't use '100', just use 120/110 priorities and use 'preempt' so that
they will overthrow the other if the router has a higher priority.

I'm not sure what you mean about a specific address block. In
general, providers will let you, subject to their prefix length
policy, advertise:

  provider-independent space assigned to you

provider-assigned space assigned to you by the same provider.
Depending on the particular network design, they may aggregate this
and only advertise the aggregate to other ISPs, or might advertise
your more-specific as part of a multihoming strategy

as part of a multihoming strategy, and with proper coordination
and preapproval, they may allow you to advertise part of another
provider's space that is assigned to you.

Could you clarify what you have in mind?

Aironet Wireless

2000-10-31 Thread Sites, Bob

Question, I have a set of Cisco Aironet wireless bridges that I am
connecting two bldgs with. They are only about 100yds apart. As part of the
bridge diagnostics I can look at "radio strength, which is at 100%", and the
"radio quality, which fluctuates between 40-60%." Is there anything I can
do to improve the "quality" of the signal. Everything seems to be working
fine, but I can't stop thinking that the quality could be improved in some
way? Anyone from Cisco have advise on this?

Mark,

I have run into this before. Chances are there is another device on this
segment that is listening to multicast 224.0.0.2. Do a "debug standby" and
see if these devices are communicating. My intuition says that another
device on this segment is hearing the 224.0.0.2 multicast.

Let me know what you find.

I would aquire the Omni-Directional Access Point Antenna as this should
allow the bridge to receive radio strength better. Also, check the
surrounding area to see if there are any devices that might cause a
disturbance with the bridge's communcation.
Also, you might want to get a lightning arrestor,

fragment bit is set to on. None of the token or fddi frames are fragmented.
We have 2 DS3s to the internet and, planning on deploying couple of PIXs
behind the gateway routers. The gateway routers are on a FDDI ring at this
time and would like to step to gigether. What are my options for the
tokenring users and people on FDDI rings (We're phasing out token, its going
slow!) out there. Just looking for feedback and suggestions. I do
apologize if my request is not clear.

Thanks,

Nabil

Yes he is an incredible inventor. I heard he invented the internet. I'm
guessing he'll invent hell on earth next if he gets to be president. Not
something I'd volunteer to help him with.

Yes please Mr. President take the honest peoples guns from them so only the

help society as a whole pull together. (by cowering in there homes with 911

RE: Jobs in DC

2000-10-31 Thread Irwin Lazar

I hate to jump into this, especially considering my distaste for Al Gore,
but the claim that Gore said he "invented" the Internet is a lie that has
been spread by those on the right side of the political spectrum for most of
the last year.

Gore's statement that ``During my service in the United States Congress, I
took the initiative in creating the Internet.'' has been taken "way" out of
context, and folks like Vint Cerf and Bob Kahn have stepped up to defend
Gore as being a champion of the development of what's now known as the
modern "Internet". See: http://www.mids.org/mn/904/large.html

We now return you to your regularly scheduled Cisco Study-related

Frame Relay for the Lab

2000-10-31 Thread Keith Townsend

I'm deciding on a router to use as a frame relay switch in my lab. I read a
view posts back about the 4000 being a good value. How is it compared to a
2521 for the lab? The 4000 looks like it would be more expensive but it's
moduler. What exactly could I do with it in the future?

Thank

Shelve ATM Lane, do not shelve ATM PVC, SVC, Classical IP or MPOA. They
still exist on the exam.

In your Sun server, there is a file that you need to modify to allow

#CONSOLE=/dev/console

Save this file and it will work.

Javed,

What do you mean by "non-technical guy"?
Everyone had to start off somewhere as nobody was born with Cisco box in
their mouth so to speak. If you want to learn something and and train hard
for it ... you can do it and go for it ...as Chuck Larrieu said ... having
passed his CCIE Written he feels as if he has made it to basecamp of Everest
... well he had to become the climb somewhere and he knows where he wants to
be and as per Stephen Covey ...Begin with the end in mind sure you
can do it!! ... Welcome to our world!!

2520's and 2521's don't exactly go for cheap either :)

2520 and 2521 have 2 high speed serials, and 2 low speed serials. The
4000 NP4T is high speed. 4000 could add token, ethernet, hssi, fddi, etc.

The 4000 is a nice box, would cost around $1200 with np2e,
np4T. 4500/4700 can add a Fast Ethernet as well.

I use an AGS+ for my frame switch. I didn't think at first these could do
FR switching, but other pointed out here it can. If you get an AGS+ make
sure you get the CSC/4 with 16MB DRAM 4MB flash. For a FR switch their
are alot of ways to go, but the CSC-4T is probably what you want (4 high
speed serials). I paid $75 for my AGS+, it has:

CSC/4 processor
CSC/MC+ flash memory
CSC/4S 4 slow serials
CSC/4s 4 slow serials
CSC/1s 1 slow serial
CSC/1r 1 token ring
MEC44 ethernet
CCTL2 Ciscobus2 card
CSC-ENV enviromental card

I added a CSC/4T - four high speed serials for $50.

Its ugly. Its loud. but it works :)

RE: Need Advice

2000-10-31 Thread Daniel Cotts

The answer is "yes". The "how" is more complicated. The trick is getting the
experience to reinforce the knowledge you gain through study. My first job
in IT included moving furniture, taking out the garbage, and shoveling snow.
After that I might be able to work on the computers. It's called paying your
dues. For the next job I was the only applicant who really had a clue about
networks. It was a small company. Luckily it grew to a world-wide presence.
My knowledge and experience grew with it.
There are many similar stories. The main point is to find the situation
where you can learn and grow. There are many good folks in this field who
will be glad to assist you. There are also a few who "have room for
improvement".
Learn something new every day. Be proud of your accomplishment. Be humble in
asking for advice. Never claim to know something that you don't. Buy
equipment as budget allows and practice. Good luck.

Re: Escape sequence

2000-10-31 Thread Matthew . Sypherd

Brad,

I believe that you just need the control-shift-6 part of that. This is
important if you happen to be telneting/reverse-telnetting through another
router to where you are attempting to run the trace. If you use
ctrl-shft-6-x, you'll get kicked back to the previous router. For example

termserv>r1
Trying r1 (10.1.1.1)... Open
r1>trace www.groupstudy.com
Type escape sequence to abort.
Tracing the route to www.groupstudy.com (208.32.175.78)
1 * * *
2 * * *
3 * * * [ctrl-shft-6]
r1> <--- just takes you back to the CLI
r1>trace www.groupstudy.com
Type escape sequence to abort.
Tracing the route to www.groupstudy.com (208.32.175.78)
1 * * *
2 * * *
3 * * * [ctrl-shft-6-x]
termserv><--- kicks you back to the term server

Hope this helps. At least it'll save time logging back into the router multiple times
trying to run multiple traces.

Just look for the CSC/4. This will allow you to got 11.2(22) which was
the last IOS produced for the AGS+.

It helps to read up a bit too on the cards available so you know what you
are getting when you buy. The AGS+ supports two busses, a MultiBus and a
CiscoBus. If you want to use the CiscoBus then you need a CiscoBus or
CiscoBus2 controller card.
