Well I got it working. Looks like Mobile Safari tries lots of different ranges to see what works best, maybe some sort of bandwidth detection. So the links to the .mp3 files (for mp3 files) that are already in the songinfo page could be used to play a file. You can use that to construct a page with a playlist (including the files) that iPhone would play. You cannot control it through SC anymore, but you can browse the DB and play files. I would say streaming Internet Radio to iPhone is less important since every radio that is not deeply sleeping currently tries to get a streaming app online for that so nothing SC needs to do. Of course, a real App that uses the stream or even understands the squeezebox protocol would be much better, but it's a start. I don't know what's needed to fix this (technically speaking), but I know that the server would have to support "byte range access" which means the client can select which portion of a file it wants to download at a given time. If you don't have an iThingy to test you can use QuickTime, I think it has the same limitation. -- pippin --- see iPeng at penguinlovesmusic.com pippin's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13777 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=49991 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

I know iPhone does a lot of optimization to conserve power, so maybe it somehow detects an empty stream and shuts it of... The behavior is completely reproducible: When I pause the stream (on SC) and then also pause it on the iTuner app, it loses the connection (and indicates so). When I then try to restart (on iTuner) it says "cannot recognize stream format". But if I then re-start the stream on SC it can connect again. It also seams to buffer ahead quite a bit (30s for my 192 kbps mp3s and more than 2min for 64kbps streams) so I can only imagine the distorted playback has to do with decoding issues. Lower bitrates make no difference, it seems to have more to do with the track, some songs seem to be more sensitive than others (reproducible). The strange thing is it seems to have no such issues with shoutcast streams. What you have to do is actually start to stream something (play a track) before the iTuner picks up the stream. That said, the iTuner application gives a very bad oveall impression. I get "Out of Memory" messages from time to time, it manages to hang while entering a url (and doing nothing else in the meantime) and it even comes with a type in the default "http://"; tag ("http:/b/", I first thought that is some kind of code but it's just an error). I'm trying to stream a radio station from the following URLs: 128kbps (http://128.208.34.80:8002/listen.pls) 64kbps (http://128.208.34.80:8000/listen.pls) I started out with the 128kbps stream, and it seemed to play fine--for about 30 minutes or so, and then it just stops. If you push play again, the stream will pick up again and play for another 30 minutes or so. Sometimes it's less than 30 minutes, but I'm not sure it's ever lasted longer. Things I've tried: - Multiple versions of SqueezeCenter. I've tried the 6.5x series, the 7.0 series, and I'm now on a 7.1 nightly. The 6.5 series stuttered instead of stopping, but other than that, it was the same. - Just stream it on the PC. Yep, on the PC it doesn't stop after 30 minutes, so I think that shows it's not a problem with my Internet connection. - Lower bitrate stream. I tried 64kbps, same results. My 1.5 Mbps DSL connection may be pokey, but it should definitely handle that fine. - Take wireless out of the picture. Same results wired. - Proxied vs. native playback. Same results either way. I could open a bug if I only knew more. I'm thinking that the stream periodically "refreshes" or does some fancy redirection that my PC can understand but the SB3 can't. Could I use Mplayer (I'm on Linux) to read the stream and redirect it to SqueezeCenter, like the AlienBBC plugin does? How would I do this? WPBerryman39, fight the strong fight brother. It's your right to get things fixed your way, you shouldn't have to rip apart your setup. You definitely have put enough effort into fixing someone else's problem in this case and it's time to move on. Please contact me via PM and I will gladly take that SB3 off your hands for $100. I have a 100' Ethernet cable and portable amplifiers and speakers to test it with. Re: [slim] Duet Remote - Bug In Menus
Well that one's really odd. It's manifesting itself in the same way as the Favorites menu issue that FredFredrickson saw (already fixed in 7.1, btw), but the Random Mix menu is delivered in a fundamentally different way (straight Perl->JSON) than the Favorites menu (XML/OPML based). I'm running a 7.1 system locally here, and I can't reproduce what you're seeing. 7.1 is on the near horizon, so if you're amenable can you hold tight until 7.1 is released, then report back if the bug continues to be an issue? cheers, #!/ben -- bklaas Logitech Developer: Squeezeplay/SqueezeOS/SqueezeboxController/SqueezeCenter Community Developer: Nokia770Skin http://www.last.fm/user/bklaas/ 'KHAAAN!' [slim] Losing my mind...
I've had the squeezebox duet for about 3 weeks now. I had been running slimserver/sqeezecenter for quite a while for remote streaming, so there was really little for me to do to set it up. It was fairly easy and really worked flawlessly (including the MiP mixes) for a week. I've had to exchange the remote because of a bad screen and nothing has worked correctly since... If I put the remote down and stop playing music for more than 20 min or so, the remote loses connection to the server (red light on the wifi strength indicator on the remote), but never my wireless. 50% of the time I have to shut the remote off and turn it on to have it connect (choosing player doesn't work). The other 50% of the time, I can actually browse and play music even the icon is still red--this never changes back to white either. Now I can't even reboot the remote--it gets hung on the "Goodbye" screen and I have to pull out the battery. Other problems: I can no longer use a password (it worked fine with my first remote) on Squeezecenter. This is a problem because I use it for remote streaming. It'll prompt me to enter username and password and then just go in a loop where it keeps asking me over and over until it hangs. Currently I'm not using a password at all. And finally, I'm able to make a single MiP mix. Every single mix I try to create pulls up and plays the first MiP mix I made--this occurs even if I clear the first mix. What's so frustrating is that this product really was working flawlessly, with the exception of a bad screen on the remote and now it's virtually unusable. I've also tried uninstalling both squeezecenter and MiP and doing a full scan which didn't help either (oh yeah, clear libary and rescan doesn't work either--I have to blow away the database manually.) Sqeezecenter Version 7.1-21511 Remote Version 7.1 r2704 (just downloaded this morning, but the inability to shut down the remote remains) This is running on XP SP3 Any help would be very appreciated. -- Ultraviolet Ultraviolet's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=16516 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=49981 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Anyone who is a bit bored.
Hi, thanks! i tried this one (LameTag) too, unfortunately without success. Those CBR-mp3's don't have lame-tags at all - i probably have encoded them in the pre-lame-days with something like bladeenc. The tool which finally was able to "repair" those tracks was 'MP3 repacker' (http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=32379) and it's GUI 'WinMP3Packer' (http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=40780&hl=). It even preserved all ID3-Tags. the steps i've done to get rid of these messages: - disable mip for the time (to reduce the scanning time) - set scan, scan.import & scan.scanner to debug - perform a full scan and identify those mp3 tracks - use WinMP3Packer with default-options to re-package those tracks - sometimes converts CBR to VBR (!!! this overwrites the source !!! make a backup before and somehow save/note the timestamp if you'd later want to restore it) - enable MIP & disable debug log for scanner & perform another full-scan - no more warnings kind regards, Markus -- schiegl schiegl's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=6654 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=48548 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
[slim] minor bugs, anyone else seen these?
(both refer to recent 7.1 SCs) when i do a clear and rescan, it goes thru the steps, and i watch on the status page, which is nice to have now btw. however, when it gets to the final 'database optimize' step, it gets about 7 seconds in, and just stops updating. i can wait many minutes, and its stuck [displaying] at 7 seconds. if i then refresh, and go back to the status page, it shows that it completed the database optimize, and only took 30 seconds to do so. is anyone else seeing this? second minor bug?: on the settings page, if i click the advanced tab, there is a drop down type of box in the top left, and you can pick "command line interface" thru "software updates" however, when picking, i get scroll bars both vertically as well as horizontally. this is the only drop down box in settings that happens, (i know of). i assume they aren't supposed to be there, right? -- MrSinatra www.LION-Radio.org Using: Squeezebox2 (primary) / SBR (secondary) / SBC - w/SC 7.1beta - Win XP Pro SP3 - 3.2ghz / 2gig ram - D-Link DIR-655 MrSinatra's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2336 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=49977 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

There are various options in SqueezeCenter (I don't it in front of me now) and there might be an option to list composers with the artist, and that could be the cause. -- Khuli http://www.last.fm/user/khuli Khuli's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=851 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=49938 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

Probably not related, but over the last couple of months my SBR has woken me up on three occasions in the middle of the night. I don't even have any alarms set, but it still managed to come out of pause those three times. -- andynormancx Yes, it will. Yes, all of them. Yes, SoftSqueeze as well. What ? Re: [slim] Question about tagging
That is correct - SqueezeCenter will not know that you have removed a music file unless you clear and rescan. I am surprised that you have no problem replacing an mp3 file with a flac, as the filename extension is different. It will only show up once on the remote, but does it play? -- Khuli http://www.last.fm/user/khuli Khuli's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=851 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=49938 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Please Help: Problems after downgrading to 7.0.1 (pause and music database)
Hi, I had exactly the same problems. I downgraded to 7.0.1 and experienced the 'no artists' issue. I've clean installed 7.0.2 - too early to say if all is OK, only re-installed late last night. Will report further when I check my system tonight. -- Calodoucas Calodoucas's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=7606 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=49941 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

This may only be if you have the premium version (are Power Tools still only in the premium version?). You will need something to keep track of your played tracks though and import this back to MIP. That said, I gave up trying to get MIP to keep up to date with my track information (this was a few versions back, mind) because it kept double counting plays of some but not all tracks. -- Siduhe Who am I on 'LAST.FM' (http://www.last.fm/user/siduhe)? Re: [slim] MusicIP Rocks!
BTW, does MIP track how often you play something? I'm just asking because I just had a look at my LastFM account and found out that my library is dramatically dominate (in terms of # of plays) by my iPEng test playlist (like 2500 listenings vs. xx listenings for stuff I feel I listen to typically). Will have to make sure my mac stops scrobbling... But I don't want MIP to prefer those a lot over the rest of my library. -- pippin --- see iPeng at penguinlovesmusic.com pippin's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13777 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=48270 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

My little server took about 5 Weeks to analyze my library (four of which I was not at home, so fine...). I had some "esoteric" stuff there, too (own recordings, audio books) and it took about all of the time for 25% of the library. Re: [slim] When Duet controller can support Chinese Characters ??
When using Simhei fonts, it appear fine during the "Now playing" but was totally distorted in the "Artist" or "Album" listing. Totally distorted meaning fuzzy char. But when wangTFF version was used, alot of blank spacing appear with correct chinese char display in all display modes. Re: [slim] Question about tagging
I have a large collection of cd's ( 600 pieces ) wich are ripped to mp3's. Now i am replacing them by Flac's. I remove a mp3 album and replace it with a flac album. I do a scan for new albums and tag-updates. But on the remote controller i have an artist with two identical albums. One flac version and a mp3 version ( even though i removed the mp3 version, before scanning ) The mp3 version shows, on the remote controller, empty. I have to do clear and new scan to get rid of the double versions. The only disadvantage is that this version of scanning take aprox. 6 hours. I found out that if a place the flac in the mp3 dir and it has the exact the same tag, there is no problem at all. -- ewreck ewreck's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=18665 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=49938 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

Dragging and dropping the music files would be done in SC. Since SC has access to the music library I dont see any issues for implementing such a feature. Myself I use iTunes to manage my library. I create and update playlists inside iTunes. iTunes supports drag and drop feature so I dont really need it in SC. I consider SC as a server application that is running in the background to server my SB3. -- Pascal Hibon Pascal Hibon's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=7969 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=49962 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

[slim] Woke up at 3AM
Hi, Last night i got woken up by my sqeezebox just after 3AM. This is the second time its happened. I have an alarm set for 7AM so i just assumed it was time to get up. I've checked the server log file but there is nothing in there regarding it. Are there any other log files i can check to see why this happened? Could it be anything do do with my alarm? maybe the squeeze box's time went temporarily 4 hours fast? How do alarms work... is it the server that wakes the sqeeze box up at the right time or is the alarm stored on the player? Does this happen to anyone else? I've had a breif look arround.
