[Dx4win] Printers for QSLing
As I am about to print in excess of 1500 QSL cards, I am thinking I might change my printer. Make sure that the mode field is enabled. just hit S to select SSB and C once or twice to select CW (Clover also starts with C). You work PSK and RTTY from the mobile? In any case R selects RTTY... P selects lots of stuff... but if the inactive modes were removed from the dropdown the situation would be improved... not many using Clover for example. J.F. This doesn't address the fact that a CW contact prior to 1975 does count for the mixed award but not for the CW award... you can't just eliminate the QSO from the count... so you have to do it twice, without the filter for Mixed and with the filter for CW. Re: [Dx4win] Wish list
Check again... you should see this order: CW, SSB, RTTY, ASCI, ATV, and so on. I still think inactive modes should not appear at all... generally D4W is very good at data entry in off-line mode without using the mouse if you set up the disable fields which just disables tabs to that field ... but if I enter an SSB contact followed by a CW contact I have to hit the C twice when Mode has the focus to step through Clover. Not a big deal... just untidy... Terry wrote: I'm not seeing this behavior. I only have CW, SSB RTTY enabled and yet the mode field in the QSO window still shows everything in alphabetical order. Say you try to log a QSO on a non-enabled band or mode. Now you can't log it without changing your preferences. I can see how it's easy to lose such a QSO in the panic of battle. Or you can log it with the wrong band or mode, change your prefs, then change the QSO, something else that's easy to forget to do. 73 - Jim AD1C On 3/18/2009 7:48 PM, J.F. Re: [Dx4win] DX4Win - Wish list
It isn't copied Ernie... it is a unique record that maps to the callsign... and is very useful as it stands... it should be left alone. BTW, I have the same issue as my log goes back to 1969. What Paul needs to do is add a new field for name. I'm not sure, with access to QRZ.Com and such, whether there is any need to store the address... maybe a short field for QTH might be useful. These fields perhaps should copy forward by default... but this could be overridden. This would take care of this issue or archival information. And Paul... PLEASE add a field for frequency data. D4W complicates lfe unnecessarily when exchanging data via ADIF by not supporting dedicated fields for Name/QTH/Freq. Paul, if you read this... it would require a data migration utility. The present convention seems to be name on the first line and QTH on the second line of notes. Better late than never, as it will, obviously, help others. My other, very long standing, wish is that the name/address of any call should not automatically be copied to a new QSO in the 'Notes for this Call' box. The sheer number of 'old' calls' re-appearing with new owners makes this information, as it functionally stands, useless as far as accuracy is concerned for a significant, and growing, number of calls. Also, many Dxpeditions now identify the actual operator with which you had the QSO, and it would be nice if you could record this information, accurately, in the 'Notes for this Call' box. (Yes, I know you can record it in the 'Notes for this QSO' box - but that is a, poor, second best, scenario. So, a 'switch' to turn this function 'on/off' would be a good way to suit everyone. Re: [Dx4win] Wish list
The way I think D4W is working... that's not going to happen like that. However, it is possible to have a combined award display where the spot priority (which determines the color) is determined to be the higher of the awards you are actively chasing. That way, if you needed Zone 2 on 160M, if you see a brightly colored VE2 you can be pretty sure it's Zone 2. I don't think that would be too much work for Paul... and I suspect, given D4W's raison d'être is award chasing, he is going to support the new CQ awards eventually and will need some extra selections. Instead of having a selection DXCC/WAZ/WPX have checkboxes for DXCC/WAZ/WPX/CQ Field at the top of the form. If you check DXCC and WAZ... if its flagged... work it... figure out why later ;-) Terry wrote: Like many of us I chase DXCC and WAZ. The last column on the right is one I created to show WAZ opportunities. The colors would be the same as you have set up for DXCC. To be complete I guess there should also be a WPX column that would function the same. I would leave the DXCC/WAZ/WPX toggle as this would determine which of the three the main screen shows. The two new columns then would display the other two. http://kk6t.com/DX4win_WAZ_MockUp.jpg 73 de Terry KK6T __ Dx4win mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Dx4win@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html -- Mel, VE2DC __ Dx4win mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Dx4win@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
Re: [Dx4win] Bug?
Hi Paul... I had mentioned this in the discussion we had on spot levels. I realize it is by design... but my reasoning is as follows... At present, if the spot is outside the filter zone it's grey. Correct. If a spot arrives from inside the filter, indicating it is being heard in the area of interest, it is colored. Correct. Now if another spot arrives withing a couple of minutes from outside the geographic area it turns grey again... indicating it isn't being heard in the area of interest? Wrong. It's probably still being heard. I would be inclined, on receipt of a spot outside the area of interest Not to flip the color back to grey. Or maybe, a refinement, a colored spot should be protected for a period of time... 15min, 30min... I'm not sure... a valid spot inside the zone resets the timer... but this requites more work. Of course, all this alert logic is wasted when dopes insist on posting spots informing the world of what they CAN'T hear or begging for contacts. Perhaps a future refinement... a spotter blacklist ;-) (Actually not a bad idea as I think about it.) Speaking of lists... have you considered supporting friend.ini. Its probably a better source of operator's name than the CDs Servers (Which usually have my formal name of Melvyn from government records instead of my on-the-air name of Mel) and wouldn't require much coding to query. You seem to miss the point completely Guy... perhaps you are confused by the word bug in the subject which started the discussion... Re: [Dx4win] LOTW, DX4WIN and contest logs
Hi Tom. I just can't think of any good reason not to import all your contacts into DX4Win. I would seem to me to be a lot easier to keep track/backup of one large log instead of dozens of small ones. I use Writelog. After the contest I import everything and delete all contest logs after a few months have elapsed. Tom Brown wrote: Soliciting opinions on this. Re: [Dx4win] eQSL
Good... There are a few improvements that could be made that probably don't involve too much effort. I actually moved all my data to a more expensive, much more feature rich logging program. But after a few years, I missed D4W. The last thing I would want to see is a lot of new features... I like the fact it is fast, slick (easy to enter data) and accurate (thanks Jim). Anything Paul does to the program has to reinforce these attributes because it's what distinguishes D4W from the other programs. Areas to be addressed: Data safety. eQsl. user configurable modes. a table containing the mode, type (Phone,CW,Digital,Image) and equivalent ADIF mode if necessary. For example: USB,P,SSB LSB,P,SSB CW,C FM,P FMN,P,FM PSK,D,PSK31 PSK31,D interfacing with subscription XML callbook services. I love the spotting in D4W but I believe there are a few simple improvements to make it even better... I'll save it for a separate email to see what the gang thinks. There are some things that other programs I think he should stay away from because they generate a continuous need for fixes. Scraping data from QRZ.com or Buckmaster. Digital modes. It would be better to interface with MixW, DM780 or Winwarbler. Let someone else keep up with the latest digi modes ;-) BTW I am active on Digital modes but use a dedicated program. We have drifted from the original thread. The fact that you can screw up DX4Win by starting two instances almost simultaneously is perhaps an interesting bit of trivia... and the RunOnlyOne utility is interesting... [Dx4win] Ver 8 wish list re spotting.
As i mentioned in another e-mail, I really like the way DX4Win handles spots... but I do have a few quibbles. We presently have to choice of flagging a new DXCC either when we have never worked it... pretty rare for me nowadays... or we have never confirmed it... I have lots of those. It would be nice if, at a glance, we could differentiate. New DXCC and unconfirmed new DXCC and do away with the check-box in preferences. Could we use priority 0 for never worked DXCC spots? Grey spots... the trouble is there are different kinds of grey spots that D4W treats the same... and I don't want to. If the spot is for a band or mode I do not or can not operate I never want to see it... Grey minus... lowest possible priority... or hide them completely. If the spot is outside spotter geographic region I am filtering on... I usually don't want to see them especially if the spotting network is busy. However, if the band is quiet, such as early morning, I do like to monitor all spots. These are the real grey spots. Priority 10. (Not 9... I need room for a new level). If you have worked a station before D4W flags them as grey spots. The logic is obvious, you don't work a station twice for an award especially if it's a DXpedition. However I'm not convinced this is correct. Even if you don't need a station, on a particular band for example, it is useful to see a spot for a needed award/band/mode regardless of where they are operating. For example if you need VP8DLM on 40 but have worked him on 20. If you see him on 20, you know he IS active and he IS NOT on 40. This is of interest! This should be one level above black spots.. Priority 8... black spots pri 9. As I do switch grey spots on and off, there should be a quicker way to turn them on and off. Maybe a right mouse click option. Grey spots may update a higher priority spot, but should not change the priority. IE if grey spots are on and a European station sends a spot (assuming we are in NA) for a needed country... it should not assume the grey spot priority (unless it's older than 60 min)... because the station is being heard in the filtered region. __ Dx4win mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Dx4win@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
Re: [Dx4win] DX4WIN in DEMO mode
When Paul told you it was impossible he was probably referring to the logic of the program with which he is very familiar. However there are bugs in code that can make it do something totally unexpected. Examples are buffer overruns, dangling pointers etc. Depending on the development language used some can be ferociously hard to track down. I do agree with you that Paul should do something to mitigate this bug... and I think the best way is to write a transaction journal file... writing the whole log requires too much IO bandwidth... but just writing an ADIF journal file, especially if it could be written to removable media, would mean that any kind of failure, hardware or software, including the occasional and inevitable bug, would not result in the loss of data and would be very easy to recover from as you could just import the missing transactions. I really really think you should do this Paul. Please Mel, VE2DC Jack Shirley wrote: Yes This same thing happened to me. Almost exactly as you describe. ( I will leave out the *four letter explicitives*.) I described this to PAUL at Dayton and he told me this was impossible. For me it happened while N8S was on and I lost a lot of contacts. I had to go back and dupe most of them.As you have found out, after you try to close the program and it tells you it can't be saved, you really fd. You can even say no and get back into the program to hand write the last contacts. I started backing up all my important QSOs on paper log. I suggested they get rid of the Demo mode and make a version maybe excludes certain features. But not being able to save...?? There is a lot of free logging programs and have better support and features than this one, so why the demo mode. The most value in this program is in the updates which are done by AD1C and that's why I stay with the software. If the updates to the databases were done with the enthusiasm of Paul, this would be go to the same place as DX Desktop. So you might have someone in your computer that you don't know about. I suggest you run a offsite program by microtrend and run house call and see if it finds anything major. Start it at night when you are ready to go to bed as it take a long time for it to scan everything. The other bugs I think the program currently has and Paul won't address: Random going into: ignore Mode in real time Spots/sort by frequency/stupid program toggles between the lowest freq and current freq. I have been a registered user for many years. Currently using ver 7.07.02. I have NEVER seen this happen before. I opened DX4WIN using the same shortcut as always. It appeared to open normally. I saw ZL7T spotted on 17m CW on the DXCluster (I did not have PACKET open on DX4WIN, instead I was using the separate VE3SUN DX Monitor program for my spotting). I did an F8 search for ZL7 to see if I needed them on 17m CW. I did, so I worked them, and all seemed OK. I had received some QSL cards in the mail so I did F8 searches for those calls and marked them as confirmed. Over the next few hours I worked C6/W6DXC on 20m SSB, C56YK on RTTY, and H40FN on 17m CW. Again, before working H40FN I did a F8 search to see if I needed H40 on 17m CW. All my F8 searches went normally and when I logged each new contact I searched for their QSL info and put the info and address in the QSL MGR window. Everything seemed to be working FB. My complete log was open and seemed to be working normally. But then, when I was ready to shut down I did an ALT+S to save the changes. OK. I then clicked on the uppermost right corner X to close the program. When I did that a window opened saying C:\PROGRAM FILES\DX4WIN707\SAVE\K7ACZ.DXL WAS MODIFIED, SAVE LOG TO DISK? I clicked on YES. Another window opened saying something to the effect that changes could not be saved in DEMO mode. I looked at the top of the main menu. It read something to the effect DX4WIN DEMO MODE. It should have read DX4WIN 7.07.2 K7ACZ, etc. At this point I knew I was in trouble. I needed to close the window that said: C:\PROGRAM FILES\DX4WIN707\SAVE\K7ACZ.DXL WAS MODIFIED, SAVE LOG TO DISK? so I could write down on a pad the calls, times, modes, etc, of the contacts I had made during the day so I could reenter them when I could open the program back to normal logging again. So I hit the CANCEL option thinking that would cancel the closing of the program. But it closed anyway causing me to lose all the cont act s I had made during the day including a new mode (RTTY) for C56YK and a new band/mode (18m CW) for ZL7T and H40FN. I can't remember when during the 6 or so hours DX4WIN was open I actually made those contacts, all I can do is guess within an hour or so. When I restarted DX4WIN of course those contacts and changes made while in DEMO mode were gone. Is there anyway to retrieve those contacts? Could they be saved someplace I can't think of? How and why did DX4WIN get into the DEMO mode anyway? I can't duplicate it. I don't see how to get it into DEMO mode even if I wanted to. ___ Alan Zack Amateur Radio Station K7ACZ Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Delta Rocket Quality Engineer, The Boeing Company, Retired Aviation Chief Warrant Officer, U.S. Coast Guard, Retired __ Dx4win mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Dx4win@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html -- Mel, VE2DC __ Dx4win mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Dx4win@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

Somehow it had managed to stay un-reissued since 1970 when I gave it up after moving to 4-land. My question is, what's the best way to handle two calls in DX4WIN? I can start a new log for the new call, of course, but then I don't have the benefit of any of the information about previous QSOs with people, and the spot window is this solid wall of red. [Dx4win] Adding Rig Freq to QSO
I'm not surprised you didn't find it... it's anything but obvious. On the log scteen, under QSO --- Contest mode... Add $$ to the note field. This will insert the frequency into the note field whether the program is in Contest Mode or not. This is not a really satisfactory solution, as it is not possible to import/export this info in standard ADIF format... ie and ADIF import will lose your frequency data... Why Paul will not change this is beyond me... DX4Win seems to be out of step with every other logging software... It has been suggested by those more cynical than I that Paul doesn't want to make switching log data too easy... Does the DXP38 support a command mode as opposed to a host mode? I used DX4Win for years on RTTY, Pactor and Amtor using a PK900. It doesn't work with sound board RTTY... it would be a welcome improvement. The QSL manager has some limitations, but saying it is far to limiting to be useful is an exaggeration... but some improvement would be appreciated. Date sensitivity would be very helpful. Then hit Enter and Log the QSO, then, bring that QSO back to the log window by double clicking on it in the logbook window and choose the QSO pulldown menu and select Delete QSO. this will make a callsign exception for that callsign anytime it is entered into the log window in the future, from that date on. Only if Alert Unconfirmed is unchecked... Then you can fix it so you're all ready for when LOTW goes live. I don't know if the API has now been delivered to software writers, but in looking over the data that are being delivered by the web site, it strikes me that one really good thing would be tight integration with the QSL stats in DX4WIN. It would be great if there was a way, inside DX4WIN, to mark QSO records with QSLs received/matched through LOTW, and then to do submissions for awards in a clean and seamless way. I realize that the mechanics of the latter may not be totally clear, even in ARRL's mind, at this stage, and will do my best to be patient. FAQ: I get an error that the port driver cannot be found This error indicates that the port driver, the program that 'talks' to the LPT port, is missing. This typically happens when you copy all the DX4WIN files to a new computer without installing the port driver. You can correct this problem by copying the port driver to the correct directory. There are two port drivers: one for Win/NT, Win/2000 and Win/XP, the second one for Win/95, Win/98, Win/SE etc. When the correct driver is not available, you can still retrieve the driver from the DX4WIN installation program. You can retrieve individual files from the installation program dx4w602.exe. Add the /X parameter on a DOS command prompt, or create a link to the install program and add this parameter. [Dx4win] Error creating new selection names

Here's the scenario: Filter - Selection. Click on Add, and the top box now says Replace this Name -- so you start typing in that box. Here's the problem: If the first letter you type matches an *existing* selection, you are now editing *THAT* selection, and not the new one you created! For example, I have a selection called 2000 IARU. Say I want to add a date selection for calendar year 2000. I start typing 2000 in the top box, and now all of a sudden, the dates and check boxes get filled in as if I'm editing the 2000 IARU selection, which I am! If you save this selection, you will have over-written the old one. I found a work-around, which I don't recommend (it involves editing your .DXL file). Give the new selection some weird name like XYZZY -- it must be at least one character LONGER than the name you really want. Then save it. Exit DX4WIN and edit your call.DXL file using an editor like Emacs. Search for the weird name XYZZY and change it to what you want (in the .DXL file, it said XYZZYce this name, so I changed this to 2000Yce this name). In my case, since 2000 was shorter than XYZZY, I went back into the selection editor and carefully deleted just the last character from 2000Y to get 2000 clicked Update than OK. Paul, I hope you understand this problem and can come up with a fix in the next revision. 73 - Jim AD1C -- Jim Reisert AD1C, 7 Charlemont Court, North Chelmsford, MA 01863 USA +978-251-9933, [EMAIL PROTECTED], http://www.ad1c.com PGP Fingerprint: D8E2 3D78 339F A7F1 8C13 1193 B5D1 4FB6 79D1 70DC ___ Dx4win mailing list Dx4win@mailman.qth.net http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win

The 5.x PSK selection was completely independent of the keyed line for CW. In DX4WIN 6.02, it seems that your only choices for PSK keying are either the CW interface or VOX. What happened to the ability to independently choose a com port? In my 5.03 configuration, I had been using the LPT port for CW keying, and the com port for keying in either PSK31 or MMTTY. As long as I did not attempt to simultaneously open the PSK window and run MMTTY, this arrangement worked fine. Under 6.02, I attempted to work-arounds... neither which seem to work: First work-around: telling DX4WIN to use the LPT CW interface for PSK keying. It doesn't work. PSK does not key via the LPT port... although CW still works fine. Second work-around: Re-configure for CW keying via the com port. This allows CW and PSK to work properly, but prevents MMTTY from running. (DX4WIN grabs control of the CW port upon launch, and if you try to subsequently launch MMTTY you get a port conflict error.) If you configure to key the rig in CW from the LPT port, PSK keying via the same LPT port does not work. -larry K8UT - Original Message - From: Mel Martin (VE2DC) [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: 'Larry Gauthier' [EMAIL PROTECTED] Cc: 'DX4Win Reflector' dx4win@mailman.qth.net Sent: Sunday, March 16, 2003 3:24 PM Subject: RE: [Dx4win] PSK31 config change in DX4WIN 6.02? In DX4WIN 5.x, the PSK SettingsTx screen allowed you to select the PSK keying com port from 1-8, and either RTS or DTR as the keyed line. (DX4WIN grabs control of the CW port upon launch, and if you try to subsequently launch MMTTY you get a port conflict error.) Has anyone else encountered these problems? Does anyone have a suggestion on how to solve them? -larry K8UT --- StripMime Report -- processed MIME parts --- multipart/alternative text/plain (text body -- kept) text/html The reason this message is shown is because the post was in HTML or had an attachment. On a number of XP systems this works as expected. Looks more like a MS upgrade issue to me at this time. o If my packet, RTTY or rotator window fails to open (local problem with USB ports and RF), the next time I open DX4WIN those windows are all over the place, not where they belong. Changing the Startin folder does not help. If DX4WIN is opened directly from the .exe file, no DOS window appears. This problem has also been reported. *** And I have no clue what is causing this to be different. What data source are you using? Just wondering if other XP users see the same? o Re above, if I set Automatic Update, a search begins on the first character typed with no delay, which ties things up for a while and prevents me from completing typing the call *** On-line has a warning about this; bet you have the callsign update option enabled. 2. Wish List o Green-reverse spots when not confirmed even when the contact contributes to nothing (as discussed) *** Done for the next release o Ability to copy a few lines from the packet window so I can paste them into a manager's address window *** Works for me; I think you have to be in holding mode for this to work (to stop text coming in) o Ability to customize fields and their sequence in the Same Call window (I would like to add QSL method, Label?, etc.) *** Will check that out, but not sure how much demand there is for this o See local time in the DX Sunrise/Sunset - Info window -- wasn't that there once? *** This display now uses the 'closest' info available (like state, iota). Old version only used the country information which had a somewhat 'bogus' field containing the time difference for the country with UTC. If I can estimate the local time based on the longitude we would be in business again. o Revert the map to 5.03 where I could see a highlighted country much more clearly *** Not sure what has changed here; highlighted country is shown in Yellow as was done in 5.03 o Double click on RTTY fields to populate QSO fields *** In the planning stage; had more requests for this o Use gray for disabled modes/bands only. Use black for confirmed mode and band. Be able to ignore both. *** Had a few requests for this, but not enough to make this change. Many users are used to the current setup and consequences. (Spots become gray when you work a station that was previously listed as important for example) o Station worked as part of SWL card *** This comes up so now and then, and I don't see the need for this. The result is that all qsos I want added on the selected log #5 are added on the log #1 (as predisposed on FILE|PREFERENCES|QSO|GROUP|#), with hard problems to restore the right situation (re-install the backup file and repeat the qso adding). I should like that the QSO|GROUP|# in the QSO window have an automatic change, according to the QSO|FILTER|SELECTION activated. In fact, if I select a specified group, I want to work on it only!!! Why not improve an automatic QSO|GROUP|# change, in presence of the QSO|FILTER|SELECTION switched NOT ZERO? In short, I should like the QSO|GROUP will be fixed: - equal to PREFERENCE|DEFAULT FOR NEW QSO|GROUP if the FILTER|SELECTION is not activated (set to zero). - equal to FILTER|SELECTION|# if the FILTER|SELECTION is activated (not zero). Only few lines of code needed, I think, as: IF [QSO|FILTER|SELECTION] =3D=3D 0 [QSO|GROUP|#] =3D=3D [FILE|PREFERENCES|QSO|GROUP|#] ELSE [QSO|GROUP|#] =3D=3D [QSO|FILTER|SELECTION|#] ENDIF I already made You aware of this problem also on V.503 - 7th - When importing QSL Managers or Managers' Addresses would like to see which entries were changed!! Not just Replaced 55 and Added 32. There could be messages the same way as when merging CTY files! (Maybe I need to restore some data!!) (requested also by tonno/es5tv). That is all for the moment. I'm testing I hope it is of help! [Dx4win] report coloum on SSB
But I also think extended signal reports should be optional... for most 59 599 is adequate and preferable... - Original Message - From: ON4AOI [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Dave Cossar [EMAIL PROTECTED] Cc: Dx4win@mailman.qth.net Sent: Friday, February 07, 2003 11:07 Subject: Re: [Dx4win] report coloum on SSB Dave, This is not a BUG It's because reports are now possible for AURORA, Meteor Scatter, EME, Rain Scatter etc the RST field can be 59A - R27 etc, for more details read the manual its explained there - Original Message - From: Dave Cossar [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Dx4win@mailman.qth.net Sent: Friday, February 07, 2003 12:52 PM Subject: [Dx4win] report coloum on SSB Just noticed when on SSB I now have a choice of 3 numbers for the report I don't expect to give 599 on ssb .the only way round this to TAB to the next field. Before in ver5 when 2 charactars where pressed whilst on SSB the cursur moved it's self. Why is this ? will there be a fix ? [Dx4win] Green on white spots
If the same station is spotted that you've worked before... It should be black... If it's a different station it should be red... But I'm not sure which way DX4Win works... I'll have to test it... -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Jim Reisert AD1C Sent: February 6, 2003 5:22 PM To: Dave Jaksa; 'Wendell Wyly W5FL'; dx4win@mailman.qth.net Subject: RE: [Dx4win] Green on white spots It's hard to explain, but there are those of us who like to work every country on every possible band/mode combination. It's a sickness, I'll admit it. Here's how I think of the colors (sorry, no priority numbers for me): DU9RG is spotted on 40 meter CW. I have never worked DU on 40 meters, so the spot is bright red. So I work him for a new one. Now if DU9/N0NM is later spotted on 40 meter CW, the spot will be light red (worked but not confirmed on this band). Doesn't matter if it's spotted on SSB, same will apply, since it's not confirmed on this band.
[Dx4win] Green on white spots
Actually it's grey once you work it... Something I'm not sure I agree with... Think it should be black... Grey should be just those spots you have indicated you don't want to see at all... -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Mel Martin (VE2DC) Sent: February 6, 2003 7:30 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]; 'Dave Jaksa'; 'Wendell Wyly W5FL'; dx4win@mailman.qth.net Subject: RE: [Dx4win] Green on white spots If the same station is spotted that you've worked before...
